A lot of the issues with him also come from the last, LAST minute twist that he was once Klaus because it's a twist that is actually pointless at the point that it's placed in the story.

In retrospect, I think part of the problem with Zanza is the way XB1's history is told. We don't get any flashbacks showing him and Meyneth actually interacting back then, we just get a brief overview of their big fight, narrated by modern day Meyneth.
I thought XB2's total overload of villain flashbacks towards the end of the game was a little silly, but I wouldn't have minded XB1 having one or two of those to flesh out Zanza.

Also, I think people are also reading too much in that Monolith want to hire a resident artist. Maybe I should find the exact words and maybe I'm wrong, but I think it doesn't rule out the possibility for Monolith to still have freelancer artists as the main artist, like they've done since forever. If anything -and the recent artbook also points this out- a main artist only does the main shit. You then have all the other shit to do, even important secondary characters. I don't think Minoth or notPalpatine were done by Saito for example, but probably by an intern artist. Same for NPCs and shit. Heck, even Blade Form Jin was Monolith. They definitely need someone to fill that role.

To be honest, I don't think there was much impact to lose for those who played/finished 2 before XC. Aside from finally learning that the world of 2 is essentially a once-destroyed and somewhat-rebooted Earth several hundred years in the future, it was neat for the game to run tandem with the events of the original.
The only connection there is between the two games is that Klaus becomes a god-like entity in both games - benevolent in 2 but malevolent in XC
That and I never considered XC's ending to be one of weight or feeling said weight, it was a fun adventure with some bizarre turns along the way. Much like 2 really.

I never stumbled into any problems, nor had too much issues with aggro. Only late game, because you're pulling out so much damage with Rex it's not even funny, not tank could keep aggro. The only few game overs I had were when I accidentaly bumped into a Unique Monster I shouldn't have. And I fucking hate grinding in jRPG, so I definitely wasn't overleveld. Game was too easy, actually.

I think the first game has the better main story, but I find that the interactions between the characters really lacks compared to XC2. I just got toSword Valley and the whole game's just been running from story bit to story bit. There hasn't really been any scenes where the characters just bond and interact, in my opinion.
I love the game almost as much as XC2. It's got a great story, amazing music, solid gameplay (apart from the myriad of mundane side quests the game keeps throwing at you so you end up overleveling easily), okay characters and to top it all of, an absolutely breathtaking world.

She's way better than Tora for most of the game. Tora only becomes better once you have a decent setup with Poppi QTpi. Even then you can easily run her in your team alongside Tora and Rex/Zeke. Give her Shulk as her primary blade to get that 40% damage modifier for all active blades as soon as you have max affinity (run hunter's chemistry on two of your blades)
I played her for the whole game and the entire challenge mode, I only optimized my Poppi in NG+

I forgot I haven't beaten Malos in the Torna expansion yet. I fucked around trying to kill all the special monsters and super bosses. But those super bosses are absurdly difficult and I just lost motivation. Is it worth 100%ing?

I really kind of hated the combat for like 80% of the game but I just liked everything else in it.
The factory dungeon was pretty fun too, and I loved exploring other shit too, wish there were more secret areas.

He wasn't asking for much, but was denied even that. That drove him nuts and opened his eyes to how shitty the whole blade system could be.
That meant that when he eventually met Malos again, he a lot more open to seeing things from the 'fuck all humans' perspective, but it also was what convinced him that just killing humans wasn't enough, and that the Architect was a part of the problem.
