Metroid fusion

god, who was the fucking retard who designed this fucking boss fight? who fucking hurt him so fucking badly in his life that he decided to take it out on the players like this? nightmare feels like a pure RNG boss, I've been stuck on it for a while and it's so goddamn frustrating that it's tilting the fuck out of me. I can get through his first two forms without taking damage but his goddamn third form is such a huge jump in difficulty over the previous parts of the game that I don't even know what to say
>can only do damage to him in one tiny spot, and only if you're to the left and exactly in front of him
>super erratic, high speed flight pattern that takes up 1/4th of the room and can last anywhere from a few seconds to half a goddamn minute depending on how much he feels like fucking with you
>if you take even one hit while he's flying around, he disrupts your ability to recover into another space jump, meaning he's going to keep hitting you over and over again until he decides he's down with his flight pattern attack, this can mean that getting hit once often means you'll lose 3-4 energy tanks
>90% of the time when he's done with the flight attack, he's in a position where you literally can't shoot him because his face is too close to the left side of the wall for you to get in there and blast away at him
This ENTIRE boss comes down to how lucky you get with his AI. You basically have to cross your fingers and hope and pray that
>he doesn't get stuck looping in his flight attack
>that he finishes flight attacks to the right side of the room in front of the ladder
Anything else and you're shit out of fucking luck. What the FUCK were they thinking?
>inb4 haha pleb filter
This shit is 2/3rds of the way through the game, how can it be a pleb filter? The previous bosses in this game all rely on skill to dodge shit, and this one just ends up being a big fuck you that means absolutely nothing

Literally just git gud. Nightmare's AI is extremely exploitable, I've beaten him multiple times on 1% runs because of how easy it is to control his movements.

Holy fuck I think I'm just going to give up on this game. I can't fucking do it. There's literally NO WAY to dodge his flight pattern on the third form if he decides to fly diagonally and not in a circle, and again if he hits you can't recover into a screw attack jump and keep dodging so you lose a fuckton of health. For the last 3 hours I've been getting to his third form over and over again without taking any damage, and then he'll fucking destroy me with his flight pattern attacks and never let me get a single hit in during his idle after because he'll come out of his flight attack all the way on the left with his face smooshed up against the top or bottom part of the wall. Fuck this goddamn game, it was a masterpiece up until this moment and now it's irredeemable trash.

I know, this guy fucking sucks

jesus christ you're a faggot. Nightmare's flight pattern is entirely determined by where you are in relation to him when he starts flying. You can force him to fly in wide circles around the room just by baiting him into the right spots.

You can dps him quicker if you have a few energy tanks and just give zero fucks

lmao i first tried this boss when i was like 5 years old you cant be serious son

>see Metroid thread
>been awhile since I've had a reasonable discussion on the series that hosts my favorite game
>get moderately excited
>see it's not a "muh zerosuit ass" thread
>get pretty excited
>OP is just bitching about Nightmare being "hard" in fucking Fusion

Goddamnit, OP. You are weak, your bloodline is weak, and when the purge comes, you and your kind shall be among the first to fall and history will forget that you ever wept.

I can't, he won't stop flying around. He just gets stuck in the flying attack for half a minute at a time, whenever he comes out of it he's facing the wall and I can't get any shots in.

I am serious. I was having no trouble with this game at all before this boss. This shit is artificial difficulty at its finest, you can't really defend this shit. If you have to exploit a boss AI to make him beatable that's inexcusably shit game design. If you just play around dodging his attacks and not trying to "exploit" them he doesn't stop flying, into you at diagonal angles you can't dodge, doesn't let you recover and start jumping again, and then when he's done eating half of your health bar he'll fly over to the left side in an invulnerable state for a few seconds before starting all over again.

It's one of the best bosses in the game.
You should have full health bar untill this stage.
When he increases gravity, you should jump, he repeats your movements.
Then shoot with the charge beam when he flies down.

I'm not talking about the gravity stage. I can get past the first one and increased gravity one without taking any damage, I come into the third stage with full health each time. It's the third one that always fucks me up because of his erratic, never-ending flight animation and tendency to come out of it too close to the wall for me to do any damage.

Stop blaming the video game for your incompetence
Literally only you have trouble with this boss fight. Literally only you can't figure out Nightmare's patterns.
Stop hiding in corners and bait him into flying in the patterns you need to be able to dodge him.

>Literally only you have trouble with this boss fight.
Serious doubt. Since when has Yea Forums not been full of try-hards who pretend like every game is a piece of cake? You rarely hear anyone admit on here that they struggled with something even if it's universally known to be a difficult aspect of a game.

I beat it as a child with no guide or issue so I’ll defend it

He flies all over the room, but he stops, then the ladder and shooting in the face. It took two or three attempts for me to beat him

>le purge le weak normie gaymers xd
jesus, tone down the cringe. you can have a metroid thread without it being a cocksuck of the game, and you gain nothing by coming in and trying to establish yourself as an internet tough guy in a cringy manner. if you want to discuss metroid and not just make a post obviously fishing for validation, then why not have your post actually have something metroid-related in it?

When I get to his third stage, he never stops in front of the ladder at a level where I can actually shoot at him. He'll fly at weird diagonal angles even though I space jump around the room in a circle, knocking me into corners then just flying through them over and over again before I can recover and jump away, and then when he gets sick of that and decides to hover he'll hover on the left side of the room either above or below the ladder, too close to it for me to get in and either shoot him directly from the ladder or at a diagonal angle.

He's not weak because he's having trouble with Nightmare. He's weak because he's being a bitch and ruining the potential of a Metroid thread with said bitchness. It was not a commentary on his skill at a video game. My post was relevant enough, as this thread has no hope to begin with.

>He's weak because he's being a bitch and ruining the potential of a Metroid thread with said bitchness.
in what way? a handful of posts don't dictate a thread, coming in and posting cringy shit arguably hurts the potential of a thread even more. ironically, instead of trying to foster some kind of discussion, you come here and start bitching at someone instead like the whiny cunt you are

He'll fly toward you, but he's slow to turn once he starts moving. You can make him fly at a shallow angle by hovering in place at a certain spot then getting out of the way when he actually moves towards you which will give you enough space to squeeze past him.
This is basic matador boss fighting. He's not erratic at all, you just need to be patient and predict how he behaves.

I agree that Nightmare is a poorly designed boss. I took a break from the game for the first time when I got to Nightmare. Just keep at it though, you'll beat him eventually

During the final phase, going morph ball in the bottom left corner usually works for me to dodge the attack, but more often than not you can just tank the damage and quickly get back on the ladders

I'll try this user, thanks.
I'm thinking of taking a break too if I can't get it in a few more tries and just going on to zero mission, next game in my backlog. This boss feels really out of place gameplay wise compared to all the previous bosses encountered

>struggling with a Metroid game on a casual playthrough
Nigger, you haven’t even begun to experience the game
