Wurm was the savior of MMOs and you rejected it. Now you've doomed us all.

I still play Worms with my friends.

MMOs are dead, killed by Discord/Twitter social platforms, by burnt-out players not being able to "invest" in another MMO quite the same way ever again and the shitty f2p models (or even worse subscribe + cash shop, getting fleeced both ways)

No. This is clearly second life/minecraft

No the only things that can survive is WoW and its newer and hip estranged weeb skinned clone FFXIV
Look at FFXIV's cash shop. Sub Fee and a 400+ item cash shop with prices averaging around $15-20. WoW is no better either.

Aaaaggghh

someone post the pic

>futuristic setting instead dried out high fantasy

Okay I'm interested

deader than dead

guess you dont actually play many mmos...

theyve only made one game though. cant really judge them on that.

You absolutely can judge them on their previous work. To say you can't is fucking retarded.

MMOs are dead because they all promise an amazing new experience where you can do literally anything, but of course none never deliver because it's impossible to do. Doesn't keep them from continuing to do it over and over again while retarded continue to fall for it, though.

He's saying that you don't know what aspects of the game were just unique to that one specific project and which aspects reflect the style of the company as a whole. Even if Black Desert was more mature in theme, that doesn't necessarily mean that Pearl Abyss is incapable of doing anything else. There are plenty of companies that make wide range of games for different ages

Pearl abyss aren't going to change their monitization just because their new game is a different theme and age group.

Less on impossible and more on the end of companies not wanting to take risks anymore. Take Square Enix and FFXIV, kept to its same formulaic patch cycle since Heavensward. Why take risks when you can just do the same and get praised for it, hell look at Eureka itself. Content that in most games would be dead but by shoving in the coveted Relic carrot they'd propped up what they knew already failed one expansion and kept it going. Why take risks when the carrots are enough to take your Sunk Cost players thru it all.

It isn't impossible to do so, the problem is that either devs are too focused on copying WoW and under some delusions about MMOs needing to follow some similar structure as WoW, when really they can make it however they want. Or it is the fact that the average MMO player is such a fucking retarded faggot that none of them will play an MMO that isn't just WoW with a reskin. Either way, WoW was the worst thing to happen to MMOs ever.

god

>Korean MMOs
>how about just making MMOs where you are living in modern, city-looking, yet not realistic, fantasy-based world, just like Splatoon did to the same old tiresome genre that is shooter?

Cash shop is optional user

What does it look like???

>weeb garbage
>family rpg

luckily for them you weeb idiots will love it

not weeb garbage, but korean trash, which is even worse

>BDO devs

It's just going to go the way of all Korean MMOs isn't it?

Yeah.

I'm sure sticking my dick in a blender would be more fun than playing the new game.

>imagine excusing a cash shop that is apparently 400 items large on a game that already charges a sub fee
Isn’t the point of a subscription to avoid F2P tactics like Cash Shops?

youtu.be/k5VEOJoQS2k

That's not the problem. I play FFXIV, this god forsaken game and the fact it's all cosmetic was never the problem. Anywhere else the fact it's optional is never the problem either.
The problem is these items are in-game items which are not obtainable in the game by playing the game. The money or how much it costs is just a layer of confusion for critics to get caught in.
Playing the game is great, players like playing the game, they play to get various items yet some of these items are not obtainable, are not rewards for achievements of dedication or skill and if a cash shop has only 10 items in it then it is 10 missed opportunities to satisfy the player. 10 failures to make it a bit of a better game.
In the case of ffxiv's extensive cash shop it is 400 failures to expend the world of Eorzea through little quests and challenges.

preemptively lmaoing @ incels getting hosed hard

seriously though BDO has the second most mentally ill playerbase of all time, after FGO. I 've seen people defending it as not p2w because cash shop items are so mandatory you might as well count them as paying upfront for the game

Are those the ones that stayed? I recall a friend of mine who liked the lifeskilling part quitting in the middle of last year with the introduction of some P2W bullshit.

You can't save mmos by copying wow can't be done, it's like trying to build a house while knocking down all previous progress made.

I can't find the Black Spirit.

And XIV used to be generous in rerunning rewards from previous seasonal events from prior years but now its all locked behind said "optional" cashshop
