My problem is the enemies. They take too long to attack. Having buffed Enemy Step would be nothing if enemies can attack you with ranged attacks. I've listened to reviews but they've seem to remove the "unique key items to progress" mechanic so this means we get long corridors. This sorta makes it boring. All my worries would be washed away if the enemies get significantly better on higher difficulties though. What I mean is that by that is enemies get new moves and are more aggressive.

DMC 5 is literally just a suped up DMC 3 tho

I know about the parasite but I mean more unique items. The reviews and some footage I've seen seems to indicate they mostly got removed. That stuff, a few puzzles, and some unique areas is what made DMC1 and DMC3 memorable to me. Need a bit of variety even if the combat is the strongest aspect of the franchise.

Above all mix up attacks
Take advantage of being able to pull enemies toward you on the ground and in air
Charging special shots for your gun and throwing them into your combos helps
Try to get some Ex-ACT timings down
Have fun and do what feels natural and stylish

I'm still stuck on DMD Mundus like the absolute shit I am. It's not fun like DMD Vergil 3 or something, or even the other DMC 1 bosses on DMD. I hate space harrier now.

I don't actually care for the key items themselves, only how some imposed limits or modifiers to you in order to spice things up.

What does the dpad do in DMC? Left stick is camera control and I imagine that the dpad is used for style switching for Dante but what about the other two.

That's fair enough. Besides, 1 has different design priorities than 3 and 4 anyways, so it makes more sense to go with release order. That said, you unlock new difficulties by going through each game, so be sure to go through at least some of those if you want the bonafide DMC experience.

Quick rundown on inertia?

Something in DMC4 that made it so certain moves carried momentum which would persist throughout your combo in the air, essentially making you move around a certain way.
For example, Charge shot with Nero blows Nero back and that means he's flying backwards a bit when if you attack in the air after a charge shot.
JC'ing Killer Bee with Dante would have him move forward and made you able to rainstorm over enemies to the other side.

Yes partly, it's not quite the same, but you can still rainstorm over enemies and so on in 5 because of mid-air control. Mid air control is only for 1 attack in your combo.

They get super armor when you use an attack that blows them back. When they rush you then jump and stay in the air to avoid with Nero. Try not to use streak or finish a complete combo, keep it going for as long as possible to not blow them back.
For example:

Some missions will let you see another player in the distance fighting enemies while you go through your own level, there's at least two levels I know of where you play alongside someone, one with Nero and V and one with all three. Not sure if there's any more. Some think bloody Palace will have a co-op mode as well.
