I'm playing DMC3 for the first time, I got all the way to the end, and now I need some tips for this Chad, whatcha got Yea Forums?

Do what you did the first two times; use guns at a distance (E&I-Spiral are really good imo), then strike Vergil when he finishes his combos. If you can JC Beowulf’s dive kick consistently, the damage racks up quick. Don’t be afraid to hit him in DT to get him out of it, and just run and jump to avoid his Judgement Cut spam late in the fight.

Jump a lot especially when he parries you. use devil trigger a lot to heal and get him out of devil trigger. Stinger to chase him when he teleports away to moon slice. Trickster helps for avoiding the 5 hits. I was just fighting him 20 minutes ago and I almost won except for whiffing the killing string.

Fuck, I forgot to mention jumping Iframes. Literally nothing better than avoiding the helm breaker barrage by jumping em.

The hardest part for me is answering his DT, my friend says to knock him out of it, but any attempt to get close is a crap shoot

My advice is to juke him until he does a move with above-average recovery time (like helmsplitter>stinger) and then hit him with your own helmsplitter. You can hit him twice if you're quick, and that should be about enough to break him out of it, at least on normal.
t. Just beat him on Very Hard

My friend was playing DMC 3 for the first time and shitting all over it for:
>fixed camera angles
>guns not doing enough damage
>combat is dogshit
>boss rush near the end
He stopped at the boss rush and watched the rest of the game on Youtube. Rated the game 6/10. Should I still be friends with him?

He gave up, so he's a casual. Ditch him.
Boss rushes are my favorite vidya trope.

Nope

I was actually on the fence, but I can say now that I've played all of DMC3 [cept for beating Vergil, lol] that I'm a DMC fan

Oh, and it should be mentioned that Gunslinger and Swordmaster are virtually useless in this fight; your fancy extra moves aren't gonna help you here. Royalguard is for people with balls the size of a continent, but Trickster is generally the way to go.
Oh, and one shot from Kalina Ann will deflect his Round Trip attack (boomerang sword attack)

Kalina Ann and spiral are good at knocking him out of DT at a distance

Spam killer bee.

If you’re gonna discourage OP, at least use the right image.

This. At WORST they’re literally just a measure of patience retesting your skills

I fucking love boss fights.
A level in a game that goes HERE, DO ALL THE THINGS YOU REMEMBER MOST FROM THIS GAME
IT'S JUST FUCK YEAH LET'S DO THIS SHIT I LOVE IT

helm splitter is a decent move here in my experience
you can do it

DMC3 is a casual filter in a sense that Trickster + Rebellion is the safest choice that people never experiment out of it making the game look boring.

Rebellion and Beowulf are good.

When he starts doing repeated teleports into Helm Splitter, keep running and jumping or short hoping while moving, don't double jump here. If you want to work on Royal Guard, just do an empty stationary jump up and air block (slightly larger window than blocking on the ground).

If you're far away, Beowulf is useful when he goes into dimensional slash because you'll easily close the gap diagonally.

It doesn't help that you have to level up each individual style.

Pity him.

OP here, while I'm not a combo master, I have been using the Style Switcher mod, and I've been using the different weapons for different situations. I definitely really liked Rebellion, Nevan and Beowulf, on Swordmaster of course

If you time the Beowulf divekick correctly you can bounce off his head. You can also catch him with the divekick and switch between Rebellion and Beowulf to keep the combo going. DT when he DTs, learn the timing for the summon swords.

Preeetty sure summoned swords are only a thing on DMD difficulty. Op is on his first playthrough.

That's true for some people but most people see DMC as a brainless franchise that it'll give you satisfaction just by never experimenting. I've seen a guy say Royal Guard is trash because you take damage. It never occured to him that he was mistiming his parries. The style limitation without a mod is a flaw though because of the level system.

Rare to see someone use SS on the first run. Haven’t used it myself, I never bothered downloading DDMK for the HD Collection, but most people I’ve seen recommended it if you’re just fucking around and wanna break the game. Should prep you for Dante in 4 and 5 at least, though the styles are majorly nerfed in the former.

I like having as many options as possible, even if I can't do big boy combos yet.

Can’t fault you there, it definitely looks fun to use in 3. I just feel like going modless makes for the ideal first playthrough, but I don’t decry you for it or anything.

>fix camera
>gun damage

This should not be a problem for DMC3 though.

It actually lead to an interesting moment, when fighting the 3 whale hearts, as each heart was weak to a different weapon, left was Cerberus, right was Agni and center was Rebellion. It all just kinda came together, and I thought it was cool.

Trickster and beowulf is all you need

>each heart was weak to a different weapon
Shit, really? I know 3 has elemental bonuses (A&R on Cerb, Cerb on Agni, Beo on Nevan), but that’s new to me. Really do learn something new every day.

Sometimes just takes a fresh perspective that's crazy enough to hit everything with everything

use beowulf

Doppleganger is also weak to Beo, and Gigapede is weak to cerb

I use Rebellion most of the time in 3 and still usually get S style rankings. Just gotta mix up and taunt. I'll switch to Cerb or Beo occasionally, but for the most part, I feel naked without the sword.

>tfw have played through all DMC games multiple times
>still always forget to taunt

It's just a habit you get into. Force yourself to do it. It's awkward at first, but once you're used to it, it's second nature.
