Nioh Thread

Anyone played Nioh?
Favourite and least favourite boss, level Weapons etc?
How's the DLC?

game is great and DLCs are the best parts of it.

My favorite fight was Oba Nobunaga and my least favorite was this fucking thing

Attached: fuck this guy.jpg (1920x1090, 445K)

This fight was so easy i completely understand why you dislike it. That and the centipede in the mine or really crap.

Also does status augmentation mean it's easier to apply that elemental debuff on an enemy with less hits required? Not sure what it means exactly.

Just finished the tutorial tower and the first level.
Is it just me, or is level design kinda shit? Unlike Dark Souls, it feels simply unfair at certain moments. Kinda like when you compare Super Meat Boy and IWBTG.

it's not dark souls at all. It's more like diablo-style progression game. You will revisit those places because game has several difficulties and each one of them significantly harder than another.

Is John Dee technically the voice behind Kelly?
I mean, Kelly was an alchemist who managed to turn lead into gold before chasing after Amrita, and he met with John Dee at some point before the game starts. Yet, given the fact Kelley in the game is a homunculus with many clones, who is a puppet of John Dee, would it be plausible that the original, real Kelly died prior to the start of the game and the Kelly we see in the tower of london is quite simply a puppet that is controlled directly if not at least through some 'unbreakable bond' by John Dee, the Prime Minister of England?

Game was fun the story was dogshit. Didn't understand any of it.

Only a white man can be Japan's savior.

>Anyone played Nioh?
Yes. 350 hours on the PC version, 270 hours on the PS4 version.

>Favourite boss
Hino-enma, Yuki-Onna, Oda Nobunaga, the umi-bozou

>Least favourite boss,
The centipede thing

>Favorite level
The sunken temple, the first village, Nobunaga's castle, the majority of the DLC episodes levels.

>Favorite weapon
I've only used the katana, the axe and the odachi. The odachi is by far my favorite.

>How's the DLC?
Excellent; best part of the game even when the difficulty curve kicks you in the balls.

NIoh was a pleasant surprise and became one of my favorite games this decade. I'm really hyped for 2.

Attached: 1540546675820.jpg (5947x4080, 2.36M)

The story is very simple and not overly complex.
If you don't have a simple grasp of japanese history or folk lore then i can understand being confused, but essentially everything is there for you to read and replay (cutscenes and character information boxes in Amrita Memories) once you've done the missions or character introductions. It really isn't a complaint that the story is shit if you didn't spend the time trying to understand it, especially going into a game like this.

I'm going to be honest: if you're a Souls fan, you should drop and refund Nioh right now.
They're very different games and almost all the Souls fans who played Nioh ended hating it. You said it: it's unfairly designed. That's how the entire game rolls.

I enjoyed the Souls games when they came out but the novelty wore off while playing the 3rd game as it was just the same shit with a different coat of paint. I have no idea why this board loves them so much, outside of the original and Bloodborne. Looking back at them now the only thing they have going for them are decent DLC, an all rounded and enjoyable OST as well as some great designs for bosses and weapons and some fun, memorable co-op and invasion sessions. I've had much more fun in the co-op for Nioh than i ever have in the souls games.
With that in mind having put more time into Nioh i can safetly say it's better than the Dark Souls games for the actual parts of both franchises that can be compared (i know alot is different). I'm also a massive fan of Bloodborne but enjoy it equally to Nioh, for different reasons.

Off topic though i was dissapointed we couldn't have a trasnformation for Lady Chacha or Maria in her Japanese dress.

>if you're a Souls fan, you should drop and refund Nioh right now
wrong, i enjoy both souls and nioh.

They’re different. I feel like nioh is much more easier to git gud at whike dark souls is more knowing how to be gud than gitting gud itself

Nioh bad
Souls good

I really liked the combat, but I quit playing because I got really bored with dark/rainy level with human enemies. I'm looking forward to 2

anything but katana is wrong

>Nioh is more easier to git gud
True
>dark souls is more knowing how to be gud
What? There's alot more complexity in Nioh than Dark Souls.

Combat was good.
Fucking hated Diablo loot.

Playing it for the first time. Am on the second mission and having fun so far. Any tips for a beginner?

I wonder how it would have turned out if they'd kept the original durability idea instead of going with the loot focus.

How do I kill those demons on the roof in the beginning, I can't seem to get past that part.

Picking a favourite is too hard since they're all so good. I suppose maybe Yukimura or Muneshige, I like Mitsunari and Ogress a lot too. Least favourite is Great Centipede, only boss that's really missing something to be a great fight.
The DLC is fantastic for anyone that likes the game already, it adds so much and some of the best levels/bosses in the game.
It's just you thinking it needs to play like Souls. The level design is excellent all the way through. It's not really unfair barring some excessive damage which you have and can take better advantage of (to your own detriment), and which can be easily avoided and lowered anyway.
Where did you stop? There are many levels unlike that.

Centipede was complete trash.

Umi only sucks because the stage itself killed me more than the boss.

I enjoyed it but the game goes on too long for the amount of variety it has. To be fair I was exhausting all the optional missions and stuff, but about 80% through the story I just completely ran out of steam and interest. It is good, though. I really liked the pacing of the combat and the atmosphere.

The loot grind is what makes it good retards. That and the mission based maps we're fucking great.

I dropped it too but I actually loved the dark/rainy levels. The first one was really good anyway.

Which ones, the ones that spawn when you touch a mist of sorts?

Yea level and enemy design are the big weak points here.
Its a solid 7/10 game but damn did they drop the ball in those regards.

>the literal PS2 rain on those stages
PC version made it a bit better but damn did this game look shitty at times and not just because of the nonexistent resolution on the pos4.

Which mission?
Are you still in England?
Which demon? You mean the Executioner?
Have fun and play around with weapons. Learn how to ki pulse (you'll get into the habit of it once you start practicing). Also make sure to know what different stances are useful for;
High Stance - Slow, but more heavy hitting attacks. Can leave you open to enemies but useful for slower bigger mobs
Mid Stance - For blocking and parrying. Also good for dealing with multiple mobs depending on your weapon
Low Stance - Fast hitting and more about dodging and evading than blocking

Remember to only level one/two stats for weapon builds. (Check what each stat does when leveling up, and trait accordingly). Dont' go for an all round build with weapons (Choose 2 from strength, skill, heart and body depending on your preferred weapon). Choose 1 or 2 and don't level the rest past lvl 20ish). Put decent points into Dexterity, Magic and Spirit though.
Check what each and every item you use does. Some enemies are weak to elemental damage (bosses in particular). Keep a note of this for what's good against what, as the game doesn't tell you this;
Fire > Water > Lightning > Wind > Earth > Fire
(fire beats water etc etc).
You'll notice red blood stains on the floor. These are dead players. Activate, summon and kill them for good loot. It's the most viable way to get better loot in NG, so do as many as possible. You can ignore the blacksmith for the most part until the half way point of the game, but be sure to check out what she offers as it becomes invaluable end-game and DLC.

Im a Souls fan and I dont hate Nioh at all.
Its certainly mediocre but its still a nice game that I enjoyed a lot.

>grind is what makes it good retards
yikes

I was playing on an HD CRT at the time so you're probably very right.

Focus all your energy on learning and using Ki Pulse and stances, take full advantage of enemy Ki and experiment to maximize your damage per situation. Be greedy, and learn from it. Use the help option, sorting options and read the actual options. Learn the strengths of blocking, each dodge type and running for dealing with attacks. Take note of the usability of ranged weapons, items and check every skill tree.Read what stats do what when leveling and for what weapon, including as you increase them. Every build benefits from a bit of every stat to a degree but the choice of focus is yours. But you'll want Spirit for passives. Cheat engine yourself smithing texts for wooden weapons and reforge Weaken Melee Weapons on them.
It's not like the two are mutually exclusive. Quite the opposite actually. The loot was always an important factor.

>It's certainly mediocre
>Implying
Many games wished they were as polished and well designed as Nioh.

>Nioh
>polished

Attached: 1551306903043.png (172x139, 31K)

Based
cringe.

It is. Denying it doesn't make it any less true.

Nioh's so fucking good. I can't wait for 2, I'm more hype for it than Sekiro. Recommendations for interesting weapon combos/builds? Already done a ninja playthrough and a heavy with axe/odachi.

I'll let you in on a secret, any game that went through a development circle like FFXV is gonna be the furthest thing from polished and I like both of these games.
Stop being a retard and start thinking critical and objectively.

>I'll let you in on a secret, any game that went through a development circle like FFXV is gonna be the furthest thing from polished and I like both of these games.
The Nioh we got was developed in the span of four years, not since 2003 and you know it given the cues it takes from Dark Souls.

>Stop being a retard and start thinking critical and objectively.
Ok.
Nioh is a very polished, well designed game. Even when it recycles a lots of its own content.

I'm a Souls fan and I still haven't played this game, damn. Is it as fun as it looks?

Too bad it's underrated on Yea Forums.

>Favourite Bosses
Tie between Date Shigezane and WotW/N Sarutobi Sasuke

>Least favourite boss
Giant Centipede. It felt like it didn't belong in Nioh.

>Level
The Ninja themed one where you fight Giant Toad (Pronounced Giant Toad) at the end.

>Weapons
Tonfas. I don't care if they're weak. I don't even use the one with the Tonfa gun affix, I just slap water/lightning/wind elements depending on what I need and Heavenly Chain/Shove cancel everything to death. I use a Kusa or Spear if I want to be lazy and pop Living Weapon, though.

>How's the DLC?
Adds so much variety in how you can build your Wirriam. You miss out on the Odachi/Tonfa without it. I highly recommend that you pick it up, if you haven't yet. Just don't be a bitch and go to WotS if you've only completed game once before you start The Dragon of the North DLC. The DLC gives you plenty of experience and gear to be level appropriate for the bosses. Going to WotS may ruin things for you in terms of difficulty.

The Nioh we played didn't take 10 years. It got scrapped and restarted from scratch multiple times by different people.

Imagine trying to shit on Nioh because you're embarrased of having enjoyed it and at the same time you don't want to lose street creed with Matthewmatosis and the rest of the Soulsborne gang

The ones in the town of villages
they were the ones that were mist first then they spawn when you get close to them.
I'm on the level where just just get off the boat after beating the tutorial

>Tonfas. I don't care if they're weak
My fellow tonfa bro, they aren't exactly weak they're just specialized to rip through ki and grind down enemy while they're still drained

Do you mean the ranged guys? Use ranged back at them, you should have a bow and/or a gun with L2.

Try to break their horns; that drains their stamina and makes them fall to the floor allowing you to stab them. A heavy attack on high stance should do the trick.
You better learn to fight them because they become regular enemies.

It is a rather well polished game.
The amount of detail to attention is insane.
There are cosmetics for most of the main characters in the game that you can play as, and they're all fully voice acted. The clan system in the game is also refreshing and and while not exceedingly interesting it's a whole new dynamic that offers weekly replayability to rise in the weekly leader-boards alongside buffs, benefits and items you'll need on NG+ etc.
The crafting system and gear variation in both weapons and armour puts even alot of RPG games to shame in such a regard. The musical score while lacking in a large OST has some pretty great moments in boss fights, and speaking of boss fights it's probably one of the highlights of the game, with the exception of one or two. The weapons themselves have so many variations and combos that i've yet to find myself get bored of the 3 i've used since my first runthrough. I've not yet touched the other 4.
The combat is extremely fluid, the actual storyline while likely boring to people that don't have an interest in folk lore or Japanese history is really enjoyable for me and pretty accurate outside of Kelly, William and the Amirta banter. William was a bland protagonist but i didn't mind with a game full of 10/10 waifus. Essentially Nioh is a game that you can tell has had alot of love put into it, and while it doesn't strike out as anything unique, it's really well rounded in what it offers and the crowd it's appealing to.

Attached: yuki-onna-gif.gif (540x275, 1.9M)

The game actually tells you weaknesses and resistances in the Amrita Memories, but you have to fight the enemy first. And really you get so much attack in general that stats aren't as important for it, gear level has a much larger factor. Also the dirtiest secret is that mid stance has no effect on your Parry/Toughness, aside from the skills it just lets you recover Ki while moving and guarding. The moveset is what makes it defensive thanks to it's wide sweeps and long pokes.
Nioh's an incredible game but it's not entirely polished. Not in a glitchy way but the bad translations and poor balance as well as a ton of more specific nitpicks exist. Though it was originally better to an extent in some areas and maybe the others could have been addressed if "something" hadn't distracted them and taken priority. That said some of the finer detailing and effort is severely underrated or ignored.

You want to learn to block and manage your ki (stamina). As this guy says their weakness is their horns so test out what weapon stances have a high downwards thrust attack and use it on them when you see an opening.

Play it safe. Go in, get a couple of attacks and then dodge back to recover your ki. Let him whiff and repeat. Be aware that if you mash at him he won't stay staggered and you'll get fucked up. Respect his moves and get him down. You have a mobility advantage, so use it. Their advantage is in their raw power, so don't try and compete with it.

NIOH 2 NEWS FUCKING WHEN REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEÈEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Attached: 1k1is7.jpg (394x360, 11K)

Yeah, I'm in the middle of WotN now and I'm still tearing assholes apart just with a Water talisman alone and no other buffs. I don't think I can play around with Graces until I go through the Abyss autism simulator. I'm just using Susano + Amaterasu with some mangled Skill/Magic/Spirit build. My only complaint (if it's even a complaint) about Tonfas are, because they're so fluid, it's hard to go back to any other weapon. They just feel "right" against bosses.

>mid stance has no effect on your parry
Sorry, i didn't mean parry in that regard i was referring to countering an enemy's attack. I can't recall what they name it in Nioh again.

No it's the big mist demons
Many thanks anons, I expected a git gud and not actual help

It's coming soon™

If you want to do a long combo, go in and bait them into doing the attack animation where they flail their sword/axe around, then go out. You can get many free hits in if you'd already broken their horn and can't find an opening.

No worries, if this thread is still around later and you need a hand just post. Surprisingly most of the Nioh threads on Yea Forums i've been in have been some of the few genuine video game discussion threads that stay on topic and are good fun. Good luck out there, and don't let the first boss make you give in.

They're your first real little test. By getting to grips with Ki Pulsing and stances you should start feeling how much you can attack them and when while in what stance before Ki Pulsing to retain enough Ki and shorten recovery to be safe. Their horns are a breakable weakspot and due to their speed you can get behind them for bonus rear damage, but be wary of counterattacks. Yokai Ki works differently to human Ki, and calls for different strategy, stay on top of it. Keep all this in mind for later.

Anyone who isn't saying Masamune or the lightning guy is their favourite boss needs to reapply themselves. Such a fun challenge, those two.

>>Is it just me, or is level design kinda shit? Unlike Dark Souls, it feels simply unfair at certain moments.
How is it unfair?

The only boss fight i still haven't done on Way of the Samurai and i'm already on Way of the Demon. You can't cheese it either (though i've not tried using Sloth).
Any advice?

He has a point if he's referring to enemies hiding round corners at times. It frustrated me abit as a new player, but there are ways around it and it's something you should definetly get into the habit of expecting after a while. I always block when moving and strafing now.

Attached: maxresdefault (2).jpg (1280x720, 133K)

Hope you like elements cause this might confuse ya. The stat Parry on weapons affects the stability of your guard, like Toughness, but it also calls the skills like Water Shadow and Haze parries. One of the load tips says mid stance enhances blocking but it doesn't in that regard, you lose the same amount of Ki by default. I just try to use the ingame names whenever possible, even if Discord is better than Confusion. Actually now I'm thinking about it the only other time parry is used on an effect to seemingly refer to those skills is the Yagyu set. I should look up that description again since I never really felt a difference using it.

you're doing everlasting duty? i just spammed LW but even then it was still kinda hard

So essentially parry is referred to as the counter attacks but is also the stat that stabilizes your guard. Fml, talk about translation issues.
Yeah that one. I tried to poke them with a spear and it worked well but it's such a massive fight even fighting at range.

How do you parry?
Does it work on all enemies?

Dark Souls have plenty of enemy ambushes too though, with some enemies dropping from ceilings for grab attacks, enemies dropping behind you after you enter a corridor and enemies ambushing you right as you enter another room.

People can enjoy more than one kind of game retard. I love both souls and nioh and understand that while they do have a few similarities, they're ultimately different and both provide enjoyable experiences. Things have gotten hand about people who enjoy souls games. So many generalizations and it feels like every falseflagging retard now represents the "fanbase".

>Still no Nioh 2 news
Maybe they announced it too early.

It's been a while so my memory maybe foggy, but i used tonfa, focused on hideyori first then took out nine tails and I'd pop amrita every so often to take out chucks of their health with living weapon
youtube.com/watch?v=P8PgEJEF2Vo its a long video but i watched this when i first started playing nioh, basically explains everything to know about parrying

Thanks

Unless the original poster is referencing it as a game he started playing after Dark Souls i don't understand the comparison here, though i agree it does that to.

It's not a parry, but you can unlock a counterattack skill on any weapon tree.
It only works on human enemies (which makes them a breeze if you can always get the timing right), doesn't work on any demons.

Attached: Counter.webm (640x360, 2.73M)

The most useful thing in the fight is the huge arena. Use all of it, create distance to take your time and reset the fight as often as you need. Fox is perhaps the best to focus on first, try and put her between you and Hideyori to lessen his attacks but watch out for his projectiles. Clear the Yokai realm as soon as possible even if you have to use some (not all, they're powerful against the two of them) of your Hamaya arrows. Unless you're Confusing her which is still tough at times, Ki breaks are the biggest openings you get. Above all else, watch out for the cheeky rocks.
Kinda, yeah. But as I said, it only says parry to (maybe?) refer to what we colloquially consider parries on that set, and some of the skills themselves, "Parries their attack and places you behind them.". Of course there's also the weapon effect Parry Disabled on Guarding Enemy which stops all stance attacks from bouncing on guard and lets you continue strings like in high stance.

What's that armour set?
Looks great for cosmetic.

Double boss fights aren't meant to be played legit. It is completely possible to play them the normal way but if you don't want to tear your hair out you need at minimum a complete optimized build and a weapon with the proper rolls on it. (CTA, CCD, Familiarity) etc.

I like both Souls and Nioh, despite both series having balancing problems. I'm excited to see what Nioh 2 will be like if it comes out this year.

Attached: gyokuto.jpg (150x150, 7K)

The video doesn't mention it, but what makes Earthly Flow special is that outside of unblockable things like grabs and maybe one or two I'm forgetting, it works on ANYTHING. Yokai attacks, even projectiles and AoEsGranted you'd probably be better with Mind's Eye but it's cool and fun to do. Also I always felt Waterfall was more of a slow parry, never counted guarding attacks like Spirit Wind and Demon Thrust as parries, and it's worth mentioning that Backwave timing is similar to a slow parry.

Nioh was one of the best games I've played last year, I played the demo at my brothber's house and was instantly hooked. That said it's really not for everybody, I strongly recomend it though, especially the DLC.

>cast instant hyperbeam instead of the delayed one
thank god for substitution jutsu scroll things, save my ass infinite number of times

wondering if 2 will be as fun as this was, one of my favorite games to date honestly
I find the grim atmosphere that it generated with the heavy japanese mythology very appealing, reminded of 90's anime like Ninja Scroll

Attached: 1546325612804.png (656x555, 178K)

What's your favourite talisman Yea Forums?
For me, regardless of stats it has to be Janomecho and Saoirise.

Attached: Nioh-BloodShed-Moth-spirit-William-Band-of-Geeks.jpg (1820x1024, 241K)

Even if the setting is largely overdone, playing a foreign samurai trying to save your spiritfu is nice.

I mean spirit guardian, ffs!

The one that's most fuckable

Based and spiritpilled.

Attached: 1529050460281.jpg (3840x2160, 827K)

Time to pull out your ranged weapons from their dusty storehouse and get good at headshotting him out of living weapon for ground finishers, cause if you don't do that and you aren't using cheese, you aren't winning.

FUCK THE LEVEL CAP.

I want to max every stat.

fuekn, I wish we can advance the Twilight Missions by paying Amrita or something

>Favorite weapon
Spear

>Most challenging boss
Yuki-Onna (snow woman)

>Favorite boss
The ninja frog boss was pretty entertaining.

>Least favorite boss
Probably centipede. I don't really like the monkey-lighting boss (forget the name), especially with the frequency you have to fight it.

Kara Jishi, Blue Dragon, Ninetails are my top 3. Blue Dragon and Ninetails have excellent spirit attacks. Kara Jishi's spirit attack kind of sucks though.

How important are spirit pets for general clearing and helping in co-op?
I just want to use the ones i find the most appealing outside of boss fights where i'll use the appropriate ones.

I would answer you, but it seems you're me. Though I use Saiorse more as the main spirit because her being so quick to run out means LW doesn't overstay it's welcome and can actually be fun to dip in and out of and use as a cancel or shield. Plus I have Tokugawa to stack all that chance to survive. Otherwise though I like Izuna, Blue Dragon and Nekomata. Not giving the canon spirit pair a truly unique combo effect was such a missed opportunity.
>regardless of stats
Janomecho is one of the best spirits in the game though.

Looks like either the shinobi or iga set with the justice ministry helmet.

Spider for muh drop rates but I wonder if Nine Tails Divine/Ethereal is better
Kara-Jishi for bosses

That is exactly what status augmentation does.

He still leans in for it just the same, just not as slowly and as exaggerated. I know it is shocking, but water/elemental/yokai defense/resistance would be helpful here as well.

I suck and need, but when I summon nothing happens, I have all the settings to be unlimited with not secret words

Honestly I got pretty sick of it by the time I was done. I'll probably go back to it but there came a point where I just wasn't having fun, and it was mostly just bosses in the dlc. I did manage to beat them all, but I felt like I was putting up with the same kinda shit DS3 does with it's bosses to where they just keep going over and over, and eventually they just pull out all the stops and you have to adapt quickly or you just die. But maybe I'm just bad. I didn't like the loot system very much either, kinda felt bloated to me because of it.

I can jump in and help. What mission and level?

need help*

I really hope there is a nioh 2 beta demo so that autist spams webms in the dark souls and sekiro threads

Depends on what you want them for. With LW, while the specifics may vary a little, generally activating with any of them will lead to a veritable massacre. Spirit attacks are a bit more reliant on each Guardian Spirit and can range from extremely helpful to not really worth using. The main importance with them are the passive effects, which can give a lot of very nice and appropriate things for whatever build or playstyle you're going for. If you really want you can ignore them despite their great usefulness, or better yet take them into account for the rest of your effects and build around them a bit.

that would be awesome, I haven't played it in like months, it's demon of mount hiei, mission level 62.

Sure, if you set a password on it and tell me what it is i can jump in. I've just finished helping someone else.

I loved souls, played Nioh and literally cannot go back because Nioh's combat is so much better.

Started it a few days ago and have been playing practically nonstop. It's undoubtedly the most fun I've had playing a game in a long while.

So far, Dual Swords seems to be completely OP, but it may just be because I picked up a pretty awesome pair from a revenant pretty early on.

I'm searching on yokai with companion with demon mount hiei, and secret word "green"

>DS3 makes snow DLC with Maria clone
>Nioh does the same

I thought they sucked. My first pair was only doing average damage and had no range or crowd control.

Date Shigezane can get fucked.

No weapons are OP. They're all fun too.

bait him into slamming his sword

Low stance with elemental damage is fucking nuts, especially once you learn how to time the full combo animation properly. I'm just dancing around niggas and burning them into the ground.

You're searching the wrong thing.
It's not that one it's the one below it. That's why you can't find andybody.

I'm searching on green a ton but nothing, you still there?

You have to summon for help in the game.
The Yokai with companion is something completely different. Go into the game, go to the shrine and click on 'summon a vistior'.
If you want to help people out then you go onto the co-op torri gate and select 'random encounters' to help players.
Yes i'm still here. If you want help you can set a password in the main menu > settings > multiplayer > password.
Then you summon me in-game once you've told me the password and i can search for you from the main menu.

it says wait for companion and search for companion, I'm using wait for companion now

This is also for you

gotcha gotcha sorry for misunderstanding

every weapon in the game is really strong and fleshed out except tonfa

Every weapon is OP in it's own right. Some are just a bit dumber and easier to use though.
The damage is a little lower and range is slightly short, but their speed and crowd control are excellent as well as their ailment application. You might not hit hard but you never stop attacking.
Yokai Realm is a different mode but it still counts as completion of the stage. It's also more fun.

I think odachi is really strong but thats probably because its the only weapon that can string an additional attack in any of its stances, plus it has huge range
I wanna like sword but its mid stance is filled with nothing but parries and parrying is very precise in this game so I almost never pull them off

huh, I'm in the mission and am at the invoke visitor screen for a while, still using "green"

Including tonfa actually.

Okay, coming now i didn't realise your password was actually 'green', my mistake.

What's the best current build to clear/farm abyss and WotW/WotN? I want to get some kind of shitty gay ass living weapon one shot build together so I can farm for something more fun.

I want to make a 5 piece bonus tatenashi with 6 piece tsukuyomi discord tank that feels like a regular build that can operate on the highest difficulties without resorting to cheese, but to get the pieces with the starred attributes I want I'm gonna have to defile, save scum and do abyss a bunch with a more optimal build that I don't like.

It’s a fucking excellent game that takes the Souls formula, expands on the combat mechanics to make them deep and engaging, and is a generally fucking fantastic game. DLC solves a lot of the enemy diversity issues. I haven’t read the thread but I know Nioh threads make soulsfags butthurt to a level which shouldn’t even be possible.

Nioh 2 is going to be fucking excellent.

Favourite bosses were any of the humanoid opponents. Parry and ripostes make my nipples diamonds.

Looking for you under 'green' at the torri gate.
Are you still searching for a visitor?

Sounds like you belong on a different game

I left the tori gate to go to the in-mission based summoning kek, should I go back to tori?

imo

1kat = kusari > spear > odachi > 2kat > axe >>>>>>>> tonfa

Everything is pretty close though. Nothing is far apart from anything else except tonfa and, to be honest, even axe is a fuckload of fun.

No no it's fine. Fuck this is more complicated than it should be. I'll confirm it.
I'm at the Torri gate using the password i set in the 'online settings' to "GREEN".
I'm at the torri gate finding you, and you should be in the mission invoking a visitor with a cup with the same online password set.

>odachi above 2kat
LMAOing at ur life

I would say there is a huge amount of diablo's fomula put in there as well. The gear progression, difficulty ramp and even unique red mobs mimic diablo perfectly. My main problem with it is that the difficulty ramp after WotD starts to get too extreme and too reliant on builds over skill.

Odachi LW builds shit all over 2kat.

How the fuck? I'm on WotW nearly and would have no idea where to begin with this.

yeah, I've been at the summon visitor with the ochoko cup stuff for a while under 'green', just changed it to all caps if that means anything. I've only ever used the "Yokai realm with a friend", doesn't seem like this in-mission stuff is working

how in the fuck what?

Yeah i was using caps also, but it's still not going through, no idea why desu i've been visiting people all early morning. If you try and summon without a password in game someone should pop up, if not myself eventually.
For the boss you're on though use 'windstop talisman' to negate some of the damage from his elemental attacks, and use lightning talisman as it's his weakness.
Also, try and attack him from the back as alot of his moves come out really badly from the rear and he often misses you.

The best PS4 exclusives

Poor man's Dark Souls lacking any kind of style or class. It replaces meaningful exploration with pointless grinding. Inconsistent too, but fast at least. Weebs dig this garbage because of the Japanese theme, the higher difficulty makes them feel like they have actual skill and they can brag about something. The mind-numbing grind fits their dull wits and they get contrarian cool guy points due to the game's obscurity.

Platinumed the game, so keep your butthurt to yourself.

No one else bother replying to this and giving it (yous). Thread has been consistently fun so far, don't let one retard ruin it.

Bump on this also.
I'd like to know.

>Poor man's Dark Souls lacking any kind of style or class.

The combat in nioh is so ridiculously better and more well thought out than souls that going back to bloodborne made me feel like the game was playing in slow motion. Nioh has fuck loads of style and class in its combat.

shit i didn't know you could play the game while summoning I'm going to the password to "GREEN" (without quotes of course)

It keeps happening. He has the turning circle of a bus and is weak to the element that debuffs his main strength.
It's not really that bad, just spend some time getting used to it. 1kat is the easiest to parry with, it's all fast parries except for Backwave which is safe to attempt. The main draw for it aside from it's versatility is using the three Iai skills to connect your offense together. Pun intended.
You can always just use Weaken Melee Weapons and Devigorate or Wind. The former works on 80% of enemies and the exceptions are usually slow or can be affected by Blustered, though you get 9 Devigorates. Otherwise, to rush things just Confuse and use Paired Raiken LW or something. Making progress doesn't need a huge investment in build, though I personally think people are spoiled by how fast bosses commonly are and consider 5 minutes a warmup. But hey, it's what the combat excels at.

Just play without a password, someone will come along.

Skill ki reduction is the main thing you need to spin forever. Otherwise it is all just pretty standard stats.

it's mostly skill ki reduction (critical) in that webm

will william appear in nioh 2? i know or guesss lokking at the teaser it will be another protagonist but will it be way many years later or in the same period of nioh 1?

>You can always just use Weaken Melee Weapons and Devigorate or Wind
You actually can't. A lot of that shit stops working when you need it in WotW.

The only two things that uniquely hamper tonfa's potential are some rare tracking issues and Tonfa Gun which are both unfortunate but very low impact overall and like the others it has it's own array of strengths. Every weapon is very strong and the differences in power level are so thin that it starts coming down to really specific, often boring and pidgeonholed builds where the difference amounts to one or two more hits.
But starting with Kusarigama or Odachi tends to cause the most development of bad habits and forgetting to learn the mechanics before it's too late.

>favorite boss
Toyotomi Hideyori

>least favorite boss
Shima Sakon, his fucking lightning jump attack is the cheapest thing in the entire game, at least with Hayabusa's jump attack, you know when he's going to use it, when you're slightly away from him

>level
Probably Yokai Country or The Last Samurai

>weapon
Spear or axe

>Unlike Dark Souls, it feels simply unfair at certain moments.
You're fucking bad if you find anything unfair in the tutorial and first level of the game.

anything can happen if it's in hell

It works fucking fine - I used that shit all through way of the Nioh. Some stuff starts to resist one or two a little bit, but never all three. You can also start stacking shitloads of status augmentation for bluster. Rolling both wind and weaken melee on your weapon is an automatic "fuck you" to enemy attack power, as most weapons have one or two skills that stack the fuck out of status effects or hits. For the cases where you need a little extra juice you just use one talisman and you are good to go.

5 piece bonus of susano
susano on that revenant helmet that gives additional strong weapon damage as a substat
susano on kusarigama
seven misfortunes odachi, and 4 piece bonus from 2 pieces of armor
3 piece bonus of tatenashi

get increase attack on amrita absorption, zero ki, status aliment suffered and surrounded bonus on your armor pieces. use carnage and reciprocity talismans to trigger the damage bonus on seven misfortunes, reach 0 ki from sprinting into a wall, pop amrita to charge guage and trigger increase attack, use poopoo pot that makes you unable to use elixirs to trigger status ailment (I don't think carnage/reciprocity works for the armor affix, but it definitely does for the seven misfortunes damage bonus), activiate living weapon with kusarigama, cast weakness on boss, walk behind boss and press heavy attack

they will die in one hit with the full build and all buffs, even on floor 999 of abyss

They said it was after and heavily hinted at him showing up, but we'll create our own character.
No they don't. I've been through it doing so in mostly light armour and taken very little damage if hit. It continues to work afterwards too. You can even stack them all but I felt that went past normalization right into bully territory. I'm talking double digits in A Agility.

This.

I definitely focused heavily on those two once it became obvious how easy it was to cheese opponents with them. It definitely made it a lot harder to adjust to the mechanics of the other weapons.
