SMT Nocturne, by the looks of it

The best jrpg combat system ever imagined. With some frustrating rng.
Have fun

A pretty hard JRPG, but super rewarding and with great athmophere
Story is pretty minimalistic and most of the cool shit happens offscreen, but it's pretty good nontheless
Not for everyone, but a personal favourite on the PS2 library

How good is the setting? I wanted to play it because I imagined it's a bit dark and even a bit surreal. Am I right?

Yup
It passes from a more modern setting like hospital, parks and similar shit to stuff like pic related
Oh, it has random encounters and they're pretty high too if it's not your thing
Honestly I never minded it but it could be a detractor

That looks great. Kinda what I was looking for.

Just use estoma bro

Yikes, Persona 3 was frustrating enough for me. Is there an easy mode?

You will quit because you are weak, user

I heard the game had a comfy atmosphere. Is this true?

ONE MORE GOD REJECTED

No, but normal difficulty is pretty easy

Yes, artstyle is also great

the source material for Inception

probably the most poetic aesthetics in any video game

>easy mode

>Is there an easy mode?
Yeah, it's listed in the settings as play Persona instead

The best atmosphere in any game ever.

Also challenging battles that are lacking in modern games; you'll have to learn how every mechanic works to win.

It’s like a dark fantasy version of pokemon. No handholding, battles are hard af and require strategy, better monster design and gameplay as well as an addictive fusion mechanic.

Story is mostly absent but the apocalyptic atmosphere is well done.

A overrated game but still a really good one. It's difficulty is overblown, and unless you're a total brainlet, you should do fine.

Your first game over will come by Matador.

A barebones as fuck party-based JRPG. People regard it as a masterpiece when its really just pretty good. SMT IV is the better game IMO.

what SMT games should I play after Nocturne? and why are there so few SMT console games compared to handheld?

>learn to use buffs and debuffs
>game trivialized
So complex.

Even the fucking troll can wreck your shit if you’re not ready for it.

Hell even the birds on the world map or a random hama from an angel can end you on your first playthrough.

>Use buffs retard
There you now know the secret to victory

Strange Journey or one of the PS2 spinoffs such as Raidou

You can play DDS 1 and 2 or soul hackers and iv on the 3ds

I'd recommend DDS 1 and 2 followed by the raidou games

>and why are there so few SMT console games compared to handheld?
Only three SMT games have been released on handheld compared to six console, seven including PC. The franchise started in the NES era, user.

TL;DR

Use buffs.
