No. Kairi is unique as both a Princess of Heart and a keyblade wielder simultaneously. That should give her an affinity with light-element magic. While that could translate to healing, I want it to really translate to Yen Sid's brand of light-based sorcery, with her gameplay (if she ever happened to be playable) playing off of that theme similarly to how Sora has some light-based attacks like Explosion and Flash of Light or whatever the KH3 thing is named, but much more pronounced than he ever was with that element. That and she's hyper dainty and can't even raise a fucking arm to TRY and defend herself, when Sora had enough time to dart like 30+ feet to shield her with his spine. She's not a frontliner; not unless she need to be in some solo endeavor.

Namine couldn't be less of a combatant if she tried to be and she's never shown any interest in combat whatsoever. When Sora separates his heart from his body so that Kairi's can go free and return to her real body, that creates Namine. She's Sora's nobody born from Kairi's heart separating. At the same time, Roxas is born from Sora's heart separating from his body. Then later, Kairi uses bullshit to just make Sora have a body again and return his heart from the heartless.

Ven's heart went to sleep with Sora back when he was a kid. It happens at the end of BBS.

The more I think about it, the DDD twist also invalidates Xemnas's motivations in KH2, and most of the melancholy of the Organization in general. Something you said made me realize, I really would like a BBS-style plotline of sorts with the Destiny Islands trio. Not one where they retread worlds without reason, because that aspect of BBS sucked balls, but maybe one where Sora, Riku, and Kairi need to split up and search different worlds in a quick timespan for whatever reason, so they go their own ways to cover more ground in short order.

Divide it up so it's like 15-25% Kairi Campaign, 25%-35% Riku Campaign, and 50% Sora campaign, or maybe just a good 20/ 20/ 60 split in Sora's favor. Let Riku and Kairi show off differences in play style for a bit while Sora does most of the legwork as the franchise's protagonist or whatever. Sounds fun.

The reason Kairi's so boring and worthless is because she symbolizes Sora's "place to return to". She's representative of his home, the haven he can return to after his journey is over, the end goal so to speak. It's because of Nomura's insistence on driving the point home that the Keyblade isn't important. It's just a tool to open doors. What's actually important is the person who wields it. Excalibur is just a sword. It doesn't even have any special powers. All it means is that either some water fairy or a magic stone thinks you're worthy to rule Britain.

If everyone had their own excalibur, it would completely cease to be magical or special. KH1 did all this perfectly, when Sora the deliveryboy can take the keyblade from Riku who was technically more worthy. Riku and Sora fighting over it, Organization 13 needing Sora to complete Kingdom Hearts, a bunch of the story gets invalidated by having them be so common. Hell, even that initial shot of the Keyblade Graveyard was powerful mostly because there had only been a couple.
