maybe i will... is it good?
Because I'm still playing IV
It's the best game ever created, dude. The style is insanely good. Beats the best mangas out there in its cutscenes, gameplay is all right too.
I got to the point where I got the kids and wife back but I have no idea where to go next, I accidentally beat the hidden super boss trying to progress the plot
Bianca>Deborah>blue haired chick
>It's the best game ever created, dude.
Her name is Nera you swine and she is the best part of the remake.
Because I already played and put it on my GOAT list.
but Debora was the one added in the remake though
>acts like a bitch
>ends up being best waifu
Dragon Quest V is easily the best DQ game and one of the best JRPGs out there.
I already have, user. I always go back and forth between this one and VII as my favorite Dragon Quest, but both are outstanding.
am I the only one who likes 4 and 5 more than XI?
I mean Nera's personality was human with vagina and Bianca had no personality beyond being your childhood friend. Debora wins by default by being the only character with any actual character
>tfw you listen to this song for the first time in XI and remember what it felt like when you first heard it in V.
>dat font
Is this from Android version of the game?
Can I play this without playing IV?
Of course.
Yes, each game has almost no connection to each other.
Except the first 3.
because I tried playing IX but got bored around the level 30 mark or so. one day ill into dragon quest but for now ill stick with EO
He had a hard life.
DQV MC had a hard life.
Dragon Quest gameplay doesn't look appealing to me.
Doesn't the series have a bunch of annoying status effects?
It really is tho
Lategame bosses can wipe your buffs and it's fucking infuriating.
I did years ago.
Have you reached the underworld yet? If not you should return to the water cave near lofty peak and unlock the portal there.
I went back I checked but I guess I dont actually have my wife yet despite having the two kids
V is the go-to for plebs who have only played one other DQ (usually VIII or XI). III and VI are much better.
>VI
Based
Why the fuck would you make the main screen on a ds game the bottom screen. I hate that shit.
XI gets good at 40 hours. I know that sounds insane but it’s worth it.
3 to 5 were a million times better.
I'm surpised more devs didn't steal DQ5's formula. I think if you made a RPG that took you through the mc's whole life it would kill now.
i did
My favorite DQ will always be VII. Games massive and I love time travel shenanigans.
The holy trinity is
V
VII
III
Actually, let me elaborate
V for the perfection on the story
VII for the perfection on the episodic town format
III for the perfection on freedom and exploration
Also the best waifu.
Damn straight.
>can't download online DLC anymore since DS/Wii servers are dead
FUCK
First DQ I ever played, ruined DQ for me. Expected the other games to have massive storyline spanning multiple generations but it didn't happen. I lost the cartridge and before finishing the game.
VI was such a borefest, job system was really poorly implemented too.
It was my first DQ game. When I had just learned of emulation I downlaoded an snes emulator and a bunch of snes games, a fan translated DQV being one of them. One day while looking for something to play I saw DQV again and decided to give it a shot. I ended up loving it so much I beat the game in two days.
It's hard to pick between III and VII for me. I love III for it's freedom and difficulty but I enjoy VII's episodic plot and class system. I think I would say VII for sure if it wasn't so absurdly long, I actually think it's pretty high quality from beginning to end but still.
because it's handheld
V >> III >> VIII >> IV >> VI >> I
Played, but didn't finish II, VII and IX, so they are not on the list.
why is 5 one of the most liked?
its the best dragon quest game every created.
calling it the best game is an extreme stretch. I wouldn't even put it in my top 10
It takes you on a journey that spans multiple generations.
Chill the fuck out user, its great but not THAT great.
The storyline is one of the best in the genre, but only because of how intimate and personal it is. The "save the world" narrative is there but its not the focus. The cutscenes are mostly pretty archaic and stilted outside of Pankraz's death, the statue section and maybe a few others.
I also kinda regret playing the DS version, the accents soiled the mood at some parts. Mainly at the end when the dragon starts talking like Flanders in what otherwise would be a somewhat serious moment.
Damn I forgot about this aspect of the game.
Once you're grown up you go back and say this or something right? I can't remember exactly.
I'd kill for one, but doing something like that or what Genealogy of the Holy War did is too "experimental" and "risky" for AAA devs today and indie devs couldn't make something with that scope if they tried.
Doesn't she cuck you?
I’ve always wanted to get into this series. Do I just start at the first game, or is there a recommended one to start out with?
only you
how many DQs have overworld monsters like 9 instead of rng
I have, I want to replay it but I have to finish 2 through 4 first
VII and VIII ports on 3DS and XI
Why is being bullied and treated like a manservant so great?
Its the only Dragon Quest that hooked me up, the rest were never able to hold my attention.
Great game, great characters and great gameplay to boot. It was probably the game that started waifus on games right?
Anyways Debora best girl.
3DS versions of VII and VIII, also DQ Monsters Joker.
The opposite, actually. When her boyfriend confronts her about adventuring with you she dumps him, and the ending of the game is you and her becoming fishermen and sailing off into the sunset together.
What is the best platform to play this on?
>Used goods
DS.
Though the PS2 version isnt that bad (But it lacks party talk i thin which really enhances the experience).
The PS2 version does has party chat though.
PS2 has orchestrated music. DS has some extra content (new marriage option) and portability. They both look different. Pick whatever one is more appealing to you.
Because I want to finish II first, then all I'll have left is DQV and VI, and I'm debating on whether to play V last or VI last.
I would like to end on a high note with V, but I also wouldn't want to end on a sour note if I find out V is massively overrated, like FFVI, which is a game that disappointed so much that it swiftly became my second most hated FF and turned me off from any RPG that has party members in the double digits and turned me off from ever trying any other highly rated FF that I haven't already played, because I feel like I'm just going to get massively disappointed again.
it does then i guess the PS2 version is superior? What does it lack other than Debora?
I think it also has new monster recruitment options but I don't remember. Forgot to mention that the DS version is slightly easier than PS2 as well.

>every time this theme plays in a DQ game
DS has delicious sprite animations
PCSX2
I have, those endgame monkeys spamming instadeath spells ruined it for me.
4 is also really good but i feel like the side characters don't feel as fleshed out as they were when you played as them
perhaps because they're not the character you're playing as anymore but that doesn't mean they should feel like they're background characters
6 is good but drags, could trim a few hours down and it'd be a lot better
7 just isn't a good game though. people love that game but its too long and they reuse models way too often. they should have fixed that in the 3DS remake, but they didn't. I guess one of the most popular JRPGs in history didn't deserve more than 10 npc models
was it, dare I say, made you look
SOUL
>no doujin where you and young you team up to dp bianca
It's not fair bros
