After I introduced my girlfriend (who had barely ever played vidya) to Smash she grew interest towards the characters and their games. What you say is true from the perspective of a Nintendo fan but Smash introduces new players to games and IPs they wouldn't play otherwise

Palutena is a fringe case. You control her when using the powers in Kid Icarus Uprising. the powers are outright stated to be benefits she's bestowing upon Pit, and Pit will even thank her for them when you use them.

You don’t play as the Pokémon in Pokémon games. You play as a trainer commanding them. The original Smash Bros 64 came out prior to games where you could play as the Pokémon themselves. (Unless I am forgetting some earlier spinoff).

New to Smash, trying to learn Peach/Daisy. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do her down tilt float cancel into nair combo. I can do float cancels just fine, but pressing Y + down-left/right on the stick + A in one fluid motion just fucks me up. Any advice?
