For games actually decent as RPGs, Tsukinomizu games are a step above the rest. Lily Knight Saga and Naedoko Demon Grounds are both translated and 20+ hour RPGs. All their games are however extremely tentacle and futanari based, but they're worth playing even if you completely ignore the porn parts of the game.

Taima Miko Yuugi is another excellent RPG and one of the few examples I've seen of a single character party RPG done well. However it suffers from a horrendously broken translation. It's still very worth playing though. The actual porn is a bit questionable though as some monster design borders the grotesque.

Libraheart's Succubus series has recently been getting official translations and are excellent games in the style of classic games like Zelda and Castlevania.

WWA puzzle games like Lulu Farea if you're looking for brain teasers. It's a bit long-winded to explain the gameplay so just try out one of them. For Lulu Farea, it's on Steam, but I would recommend downloading the original fan translated version. The new MV version cuts a few skits out, edits the furry girl, and is in MV.

It's not all grotesque, but the monster art has such a style that feels "gritty/dirty" compared to the protagonist. There are a few standout areas to me. One is the ghostly village. There are ugly fat huge boobed women monsters. They inflict lactation. Then there's the gimp masochists on wooden horse ghosts in the subway area. Then there's the super sewer area full of grotesque tentacle abominations and sewer giants. It never really gets close to normal either. There's a few human boss characters you can lose to, but it feels really iffy story-wise when that happens as the plot is actually sort of serious so the sudden rape by them just feels off.

A pro is that the battle rape is actually well-implemented into the gameplay and actually gives you benefits, however I played the game avoiding the porn parts as much as possible. It's a hentai game I played purely for the game part.

It's hard to describe the specifics so I'd recommend you just try the game out. It literally starts you in the very first dungeon so you get an idea of the combat very quickly. Some minor details that made the game work well include monsters openly telegraphing their powerful and H-attacks, every boss being uniquely designed and a new experience complete with a helper character over comms giving you info to help beat it, and a skill point system which has you invest points into different skill lines(sword skills, magic, pervert, etc.) to learn new skills.

The dungeon design is also very unique. You're technically in modern Japan, but the dungeons are all sorts of zany shit near the end game. There's very little besides the dungeons though as the main hub is a pretty small place just for the few stores in the game.

One final note, the "official" translation on Steam is one of the most broken messes there is made by a no effort localized who machine translates. The version in the bins in the hgg2d general I think is the slightly edited version but that was mostly just to fix the text boxes breaking.

The RPG labeling is a misnomer. The game is 100% deterministic and there are no random elements whatsoever. It's much more puzzle, but with RPG-style secrets, tricks, and late-game sidequests that use early items that can be wasted.

It's a WWA game. Stemming from World Wide Adventure, it is a game where the main character accumulates stats as pickups to fight monsters blocking paths. HP is lost for every battle depending on stats and must also be replenished by various pickups. The main gameplay is figuring out the most efficient route to optimize stats and HP. Monsters give no experience. It's all pickups. They do drop gold though which also has to be well-managed.

The other main caveat is doors which require keys. These are extremely important and good key use is tantamount to a successful game.

Actual legitimate recommendation if looking for a decent HRPG that does Monster Hunter well is CREATURE HUNTER. English translated for the most part though overall there isn't a lot to translate.
