Maybe, but the N64 version had way more soul, therefore is superior.

analog >>>>> 8 way d-pad

Based and, dare I say it? Redpilled.

>run button

left = soul right = soulless

controls ruin it. There are some really weird emulation fixes for this but none of them feel quite like analog. Also
>hold button to run
disgusting

Not without 360 degrees movement.

Hello BG

>D-Pad to move on a 3D game.

from farthest left, 7 down, 6 across

Best thing about it were the Luigi minigames

i would legitamitely love a port to switch with the controls fixed, its not nessessarily better than the origin but its a fun spin off with extra stars

If it wasn't for the dpad it would be objectively the best version

Then play the DS version on a 3DS

Doesn’t work that way.

what about emulator + gamepad?

It could been awesome game, maybe better than the original if was on the Wii.

There is a beautiful thing called Emulation user.
Where you can play this game with any controller you want, as long as it can be hooked up to the PC.

I like the idea of having multiple characters and rarely being forced to use one over the others, I just wish Wario got completely shafted. Yoshi is actually really fun to use, Luigi completely breaks the game (which I'm honestly fine with), while Wario is kinda useless, they should have also made him the fastest on the ground I feel, plowing through the level like in wario land

DS version has 8 directional input no matter how you replace the d-pad.

all DS versions are better and more in-line with the real design of those characters and the mario universe except for the QPU bug one, the N64 version is vastly more cool and in-line with the mario aesthetic. Also, the N64 eel looks absolutely terrifying.

see

made the game practically unplayable

Wario should have gotten extra coins when killing enemies, thus giving you an alternate method of getting 100 coin stars

>he didn't play on his 3DS

Most of these are improvements

>physics and momentum literally ruined
>easy game made even easier
>Luigi is broken and Wario's only use is being metal because they felt obligated to split Mario's abilities
>shittier audio quality
>the new levels are just silver star hunts (red coins except the map tells you where everything is)
Admit it, the only reason people praise the DS version is because they spent hours playing casino games with Luigi.
>that retard who thinks digital input is magically made analog

>these minigames were fun as hell
>the only game since then to feature minigames like this was the original NSMB

If you played it on 3DS and didn’t notice it’s still controls like a D-Pad you’re probably that guy who couldn’t make the tutorial jump in Cuphead.

Who are you quoting?

Right dino has a unique look while the left one looks generic

I love Nintendo but what the fuck happened? The only remake they've done that was better than the original was HeartGold.

The control scheme is inferior, but it wasn’t THAT bad. The controls also generally felt tighter in spite of the D-pad. I personally had way more fun with DS

Except the controls, the best part of SM64, were fucking awful

>no more rainbow lighting
So long, gay Bowser...

Analog stylus controls > N64's crusty innacurate analog stick

Seriously, it's amazing to me that people never gave the stylus controls a shot. They work better than Kid Icarus Uprising. I can't imagine playing the game with D-pad

>unique
>literally yoshi with goggles

But does the DS version have parallel universes

lmao, stop posting.

Give it analogue controls and a game mode that starts with Mario and it is legitimately definitive.

>Analog stylus controls
They are not analog in any of the control schemes. It's digital input.

Even when you're using the touch screen?

This, fuck 3D World

Yes.

I feel like dorrie and scuttlebug got reverse treatments. One was made more cartoony and the latter was made more realistic.

If you have the analog mod installed, yeah.

Why is Wario so perfect bros

Aside from the Wiggler, I don't see how any of those are improvements.

>natural fade
I'd like to know what sort of animals you've been looking at.

Attached: ross.png (720x540, 437K)

>worse controls
No thanks

Attached: lizard-pictures-9641803.jpg (1200x790, 240K)

there's a beautiful thing called not being a fucking idiot user

Nah, N64 is better for sure, but the DS version is certainly underrated

thanks user

No.

>yeah man, playing the game on a system that has capabilities the original system the game was designed for doesn't have automatically makes the game compatible with those new capabilities

The dpad isn't even the worst problem, its the run button.

It really comes down to personal preference, but I will say that I do prefer the 64s take on most of these. I'd like to see what 64 DS would look like had it not been released one generation too early.

It seems as though they're moving back over to the 64 style with Mario Odyssey.

Nitro Rad makes some fair comparisons between these games.
