Where do you even get the game anymore

Origin. Or pirate it.

Trying to compensate?

MELT
EVERYTHING MUST MELT

Origen has the C&C anthology collection with it but you'd have to give EA money to get it so it's a double edged sword.

post robo 4 star generals

>EA was gonna super-white wash Generals 2 by making the GLA ambiguously anti-establishment rather than Islamic Republican revolution
Imagine being so politically correct that you become blind to a legitimate (however you think of it) political doctrine. It's like having a WW2 game and saying 'oh no, the Nazis didn't want to do third way economics, invade Poland for farmland, and gas the Jews; they just didn't like corrupt French aristocrats'.

Buy the 10 years of C&C pack on Amazon. Or yeah, pirate it. But honestly you can probably get all of the original C&C games in one go for cheap, so I'd argue that in this case piracy is unnecessary and inefficient.

Interesting. From what I guess it would work like this:

>USA
Gives charges or lowers cooldown of the Detention Center. Think of them using "enhanced interrogation tactics" on terrorists.

>GLA
Obvious answer would be to hold them for ransom, so you get money from captured enemies.

>China
This one I'm not sure, maybe brainwash them? Convert captured enemy units maybe? Force them into convict labor and reduce manufacturing times?

>raised index finger
That's some level of detail that went completely over my head fifteen years ago.

Mah comrades.

tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/NukeEm

Well, it's not like you can make fun of all the sides of the conflict like the original game did.

It makes fun of the US and its foreign policy. It makes fun of the UN. It makes fun of terrorism and radical organisations. It makes fun of patriotism. It makes fun of Chinese, it makes fun of their regime, human wave tactics, propaganda. It makes fun of governmental hacking. It makes fun of extremely expensive government military projects. Et cetera.

It works beautifully but this kind of stuff just wouldn't fly today.

I think it was basically:
USA: CIA Intelligence (Jack Bauer interrogation)
GLA: Demoralize (beheading videos)
China: Defector

I'll suck the internet dry!

That's a good article.

The original game was made in 2003, right in the middle of the invasion of Iraq.

Hi gaiz, what's going on in this thread?

Attached: C&CR.jpg (1920x1080, 624K)

I wish someone'd clone the C&C skirmish experience. Most FOSS projects are MP based.

Always hated that they went realistic direction with c&c 3, instead of futuristic of tib sun.

>mobile 'RTS'

Attached: 1451600772710.gif (136x240, 301K)

Buddy do I got news for you, you might want to look out for OpenRA!
Point still stands for

It was still a lot of fun. The realistic approach might've been less C&C...y... but it still provides hours upon hours of fun and especially in Kane's Wrath.

if only lenin could see us now..

Attached: 761238721731.jpg (625x501, 137K)

More than anything I want a game that has the gameplay of C&C but with a persistent or global campaign (Kinda like Kanes Wrath had I guess, but closer to Global War in Rise of Nations)

Comfy RTS but with each battle adding to your war effort

But instead we get tiberium twilight and rivals and alliances

Vidya AI is hard, and everyone with even the smallest amount of competence has been gobbled up by GoogleFacebookAmazon to feed the advertisement espionage abomination. So, as a fellow skirmishfag, take my advice: give up on the dream.

Attached: osttrup.jpg (273x360, 29K)

Yeah. The invasion that cemented the idea of US being a band of imbeciles.

Freedom fries and similar bullshit when Europeans said no. Joke of a president who managed to dodge a shoe and that's it. Complete disaster of a campaign in Iraq.
Ridiculous claims that China will become the next USSR.
Etc. It was the time when the "War on Terror" got reimagined as the "War for Oil" all around the world, US included. The important bit is that most people saw it as ridiculous as it was. It was also easier to laugh when those CIA funded freedom fighters weren't blowing themselves up in non-involved countries.

>Always hated that they went realistic direction with c&c 3, instead of futuristic of tib sun.

It was a result of a heavy backlash of the fanbase against the futurism of Tiberian Sun. Quite literally, they were trying to fix/unfuck the setting.

Tib Sun's futuristic setting was too much too quickly. I don't think that was the wrong direction, but Tiberium Dawn had this really comfy late/post-cold war aesthetic that you rarely ever see. Things should have more slowly approached Tiberium-based sci-fi, and not gone straight to space travel and mechs in fucking 2030.

Alternatively, if you were going to have a more futuristic 3, it should have been set on another planet that was colonized by GDI and Nod following Sun; which would mean a lower tech level due to being on the literal frontier.

Attached: 1349474138658.jpg (1920x1200, 586K)

i tried to get generals running last year sometime i think and i couldn't get it to run at modern resolution. that was with win7, i got win10 now, any thing i should know?

hah

something i never understood about the general universe, why is russia and the EU not in the game? i know there are mods that add them but it just seems weird that they would just dissapear and let china and the US do everything

Because three factions

>When they started making C&C games with no nukes.

Attached: 1398469362618.jpg (600x600, 55K)

I don't know what country called this the "War for Oil", but it has a higher chance of it being Germany with the trade sanctions. I digress, politics should not be discussed along side Command and Conquer unless it's for advertising.

>Tiberian sun
That's it, no? What other game didn't have them?

It's the future of 2002, mate.

Look at Battlefied 2 (2005). It still runs with that sort of setting, only adding in the EU because it started appearing as a player as years went on.

The EU at the time wasn't this big group as it was today the average Frenchman or Spaniard would look at you weird if you suggested a unified army back in 2003 plus Brits, Germans, etc had plenty of representation in red alert. as for Russia they were and are still a very insular nation they don't really go out of their way to fight all over the world or put their noses in places they had no business (in 2003 now they can do a lot more) the EU and Russia probably just stood back and let the Americans, Chinese, and Arabs just kill each other so they could reap the benefits of having two severely weakened superpowers and Islamic extremism mostly beaten

I don't recognize this. What unit is this?

Attached: zerohour.jpg (747x677, 78K)

Red Alert 3, and all the C&C games past Generals.

Suicide bomber, although the robotic version is the censored version from good ole' Germany.

something need doing

>EU is a bigger group now that the fucking UK is about to leave
Yeah ok

N-Nani??

its a bitch to get to work on win10 but i followed this video instructions and it worked youtube.com/watch?v=AA3h18gnIfk

So only tiberian sun and RA3, got it.

not that guy but i both like it and hate it
i like it because it's simplified and is the only RTS my brainlet mind is good at
i hate it because the unit card leveling system is a thing at all. doesn't sound like much but my hate for it is big.

are there any other simple RTS's that aren't dead but don't have unit leveling?

C&C 3 and C&C 4 too.

>are there any other simple RTS's that aren't dead but don't have unit leveling?
This should be right up your alley

Attached: hippos.jpg (474x315, 30K)

according to /tg/, tabletop gaming is dead unless you play DnD, Warhammer or MTG. try again.

AURORA IN FLIGHT

>are there any other simple RTS's that aren't dead but don't have unit leveling?
The real time strategy of killing yourself.

>C&C 3

NOD uses nukes as their superpower in 3.

>C&C 3
wrong.
youtube.com/watch?v=M51oDd6OiyA
>C&C4
We don't talk about that game.

>kill yourself
but that makes it dead, that's the opposite of what i want
is there really no simple RTS in the world? there are simple fighting games, and simple FPS's, and some of the above are even kinda alive, so why not RTS?

Attached: crying sad hobo cat.png (397x354, 114K)

That's because of retards like you who thought Hungry hungry Hippos was too complicated.

No it isn't you retards.

>put options.ini file in documents folder
>run exe with admin and vista compat
>it works
literally not hard

I still have the game on disk.

>NOD uses nukes as their superpower in 3.
>wrong.
>youtube.com/watch?v=M51oDd6OiyA
Oh.
Shows me right... I don't play NOD and I rarely play long enough to have super weapons crop up.

Depends on what you mean by simple. Most of the genre's games are aimed at children who just got their first computer and think turn based strategy games are either too hard or for old folks.

Something like Halo Wars games is both well received, pretty and decently simple. Maybe Tom Clancy's End War might be up your alley?
If these are a little too hands off, there's always stuff like intuitive games (like Company of Heroes) where even said lowest common denominator can figure out how to play unlike in most other RTS games where they start building sand castles.

hehe not much

ENGINEERING

Attached: CNCRA_Engineer.jpg (184x116, 12K)

Let's go further back for good C&C music youtube.com/watch?v=n4AUY-v1nsE

>i can build anywhere!
>can't build there sir..

If you want another mobileshit game, give Rebel Inc a try. It's from the same dev as Plague Inc, and is about as close as you can get these days to a Command and Conquer Generals game.

Although I guess it's more SimCity than RTS. Still, you do have to manage western and local troops around.

Attached: GLA.jpg (360x200, 51K)

sounds like you shouldn't be playing RTS in the first place, you and your shit taste keep enabling these abortions of a game instead of the good games like any of the older C&C games, you and your kind are unironically the cancer killing this industry, either kill yourself or don't play any RTS at all

I'll build anywhere
Can't build there, sir
