God of War, Bayonetta 2, and Nier: Automata all stand out as stellar, modern examples of what the action genre is capable of, where Devil May Cry 5 feels like a relic of a time when it was nearly uncontested in that space.

Why do you people bother posting these kinds of things here?

We know, for a fact, that the 'ratings' given by game journalists are arguably the most corrupt in any medium. At the baseline, no game except monumental trainwrecks will get below a 7, because '7 is average' in the warped system established. And beyond that? Flat out bribes, denying sites future review-copies if negative reviews are received, no oversight or effort to make the reviewers accountable as games brazenly make the only incentive to be 'give us a good review or else'... like, honestly.
Why do you post this here? All you're showing is a number from 7-10 that means nothing, tells me nothing about how the game actually plays or will be received and the thread is inevitably just a shitflinging of people arguing that 'game X got 9.5 from a corrupt site which makes it undeniably a better game than game Y that got 9.4 from a corrupt site'. You add nothing to the discourse. It's all so tiresome.

I didnt even know its releasing on PC, I dont pay attention to DMC at all really but I've had Devil Trigger on my jogging playlist since the trailer so I'm glad the game is good

Not it doesn't. The combat is the main reason I have 100+ hours on it.

Happy the game is getting good reviews but I feel like there will be a huge reviewer bias by the journos since this game is a long time coming and the DMC fanbase is extremely rabid.

Not the same since disney clearly had a ton of creative control which ruined certain aspects of the game.

Either way, I'll probably buy it at midnight tomorrow. I just hope it's as good as some of these reviews say it is, IGN is known to hand out 9/10's like candy.

Really strange score considering the game seems to have barely changed from 10 years ago.

They're not wrong. It might have been change for the worse in some aspects, but the series absolutely did need change.
DMC4 had great combat and good character design for Nero but that was about it. The game being half puzzles and backtracking didn't do it any favors.
