you have to tweak those mods. specifically change how DT works and prevent it from letting a whopping vanilla 20% of blocked damage through, or else armor is literally useless. If you change that though, armor becomes really important. It also makes speccing into certain skills more powerful and helps progression. Before medicine increasing healing items' usefulness wasn't really something you notice. Now at level 15 medicine stimpaks are kind of useless, but at level 100 I can be at 1 hp and pop a stimpak and be back at 100% in 3 seconds.
i recommend combat enhancer, it changes the enemy ai so it doesn't bumrush you and make those realism mods totally bullshit

There is zero evidence for any of that and the courier denies all of it. A city never existed in the Divide for those bombs to destroy. This is a setting where nuclear-powered PCs remain active for hundreds of years, yet none of the PCs in the Divide include any data on any kind of settlement there. No evidence of residence or agriculture. There was literally nothing there. Everything Ulysses says is pulled straight out of his ass. And that's a good thing because that leaves more room for all the nukes the courier crams in it.

It is canon, the courier denies it because s/he doesn't recall it, which makes sense for both the meta and the player character because they got shot in the head, and you couldn't possibly know who the courier was prior to that, but it did happen.
You'd have a point if his character wasn't so consistent with his story, he was from a tribe that was wiped out by caesar, joins the legion, repeats his deed to the white legs and leaves due to the grief he felt by making sure another tribe suffered the same fate, his only drive is that he found a new place at the divide which the courier eventually killed, making him the person we now know him as, there is plenty of evidence for his own character in other dlcs with his logs, he has 0 reason to lie to you.

Actually nevermind, I found the source. Chris Avellone explained that the NCR did indeed hire the courier to bring in the detonator. Fortunately he neglected to say anything about a city in the Divide. So Ulysses' guilt trip still doesn't work. The courier blew up a bunch of nukes underground with nothing around them. No peaceful desert community was destroyed. There was nothing there. So Ulysses lies, and that's why he dies.

Depends on the gun and conditions. In a dry, dry area its entirely plausible it'd be ok with token protection. Even a mild overhead covering, like a tarp or cave overhang could go a long way to reduce rusting of the internals.
