I honestly don't really care. RE isn't a "sexual" franchise in the way Capcom never really bothered with romantic relationships, apart from Ada and Leon ( and it's a completele failure ).
For me, RE is about strong - but sometimes stereotypical - individuals that face impossible threats together, friendship, bravery and hope.
I think nuLeon is more interesting than the original one because he uses his brain more (especially after talking to Annette), the same way I think nuClaire is better than the 98's version. Both of those heroes are cool, and I don't feel the need to "ship" them because it doesn't make them better than they already are.
Most ships are a terrible waste of time and energy that lead to sterile and useless debates. It's even more true in RE.
If you want to ship them, good for you. I don't see the point, but whatever makes you happy.
