Inaccurate as fuck, a lot star wars lasers have an ammo count. Slower than bullets someone with stupid-tier reflexes (Leon Han Solo etc.) can dodge them. Super visible so you can easily spot where the shooter is from. Cauterize the wound instead of causing bleed out upon hit in a non-fatal zone. Granted these are star wars lasers not Air Force cook you with invisible Ray's lasers.

Star wars blasters aren't laser weapons.
That said, they would in fact fucking suck compared to firearms, There's no way to suppress their sound, no way to hide you position with a flash hider, as your projectile is bright and gives you away immediately. Not only is your projectile bright, but it's slow compared to a bullet. You and I can see them travel through 50 yards and follow them easy, but even if I were to fire a tracer across 50 yards, you'd be hard pressed to keep up with it in the ten milliseconds it takes to traverse said space. They also appear to have less stopping power. Leia gets hit in the shoulder with a blaster rifle in Episode Six, and even though she's wounded, she's at least conscious and can still fight to a degree. If 45 ACP hit her in the same spot, she wouldn't be dead, but she'd be down and out for a while, or at least long enough that she wouldn't be present to see the Death Star explosion.
