Tetsuya Nomura was never a director from the beginning he only got his breakthrough for Kingdom hearts which he had almost 80-90% control of the entire game development. As he started to walk away from everything else besides Director, Character designer that's when he started to flop. He only made 2 decent games as director and they were only KH1 and KH2 everything after that was a flop.

Nah user, they're just radically different games. Both are honest about it though. Original GoW is DMC-lite style, it has the best gameplay of the lot and it was a fun if smashy ride (though 4th diff should have been available from the start). GoW nordic (new trilogy, not a reboot) is full "cinematic experience" but it's honest about that too. It's not some awkward hybrid like 3 was.

It's fine to not actually like the fact that they went that way but it's not as if the game pretends to be anything else.
