World just doesn't feel very good to play, in my opinion.

World is good because it has yoshi and all his abilities plus the feather cape.
3 is good because of the more varied power ups without yoshi and the premise of it all being a stage play is very creative.
World’s and 3’s biggest drawbacks are having items that just allow you to cheese through levels like the cape and p-wing, at the very least the blue yoshi is something you have to work for

3 has more soul.
More soul in the artwork. The music has more soul, the visuals have more soul, more power ups that are better, better varied worlds, better narrative. It's also more challenging and not a pisscake walk in the park.

I used to think SMW was better but it's too damn piss easy and barely has any actual level design in it. It's got fewer powerups than 3, which is somewhat offset by Yoshi, but Yoshi is so laughably broken that he allows you to not play an already trivial game. Personally, I prefer 3.
