I thought it would be different, the debut trailer with Devil Trigger was cool, but every footage we’ve seen shows that Dante is a sidekick to Nero and that V is an afterthought. When I saw how Urizen is dealt with and how not exciting the ending is (which on paper should be awesome, I mean, it’s fucking Vergil returning), I almost considered dropping my Deluxe Edition pre-order.

I decided to keep my pre-order, as I’m sure BP will at least keep me entertained for a while, before I probably return to DMC3. I just wish the series wasn’t half-assed again... Maybe in DMC6, oh well.

EVERY character looks fucking awful, they picked the wrong actors and the translation(just like RE2) from person to game went bad. Facial animations aren't even good for the most part, that puffy cheek thing Vergil does looked terrible.

The entire art style, literally everything about it, is aesthetically unpleasing. The colors are shit, the filters are shit, the visual effects are shit, and the lighting is shit. HUD and UI is bad too.

The music is electronic or emo shit. It's fucking bad. Narrator is bad too.

Combat is slower than DMC4 and it has no turbo mode, the combat visual effects are ugly as hell, and some of the animations are just bad.

The writing is uninspired, it's like they're focusing on trying to break the fourth wall by reciting memes or pop culture references from a recent era rather than more timeless insults like in the previous games. Then the general story telling, what a blunder. They're trying to characterize all these badass ultra powerful characters while they're in a fucking van. Give the story some fucking space. It's going to be cringy as fuck.

I finished DMC1 without ever using one, and wanted to do the same in DMC3, but the missions are much longer, and the bosses are hard. Also unlike DMC1, i can replay the mission for better scores without going through the whole game again, and there is no achievement for no yellow orbs runs

It's the same speed, but from what people have said there's even less cancels than there were before. Every combo video is going to devolve into enemy hopping just like DMC4.

They want you to use the breakage moves you dingdong. If you could swap however you wanted plenty of players would neglect the charge moves all together, now you need to plan out how/when you're going to blow up your arms so you can use specific ones in specific spots

To deal damage you hit the boss, and you can deal damage at any point in the fight. I don't see why you need context clues to figure out "shoot the demon until it dies"

You don't jump as high. So the timing of a full DMC4 jump to a 5 jump will have you peak and low at roughly the same time, but that spirals into a bunch of different things because you didn't have to peak jump in 4 and if you're really high falling in 5 takes a long ass time compared to 4.

It's just slower and I wouldn't even say it's ((realistic)) like Itsuno implied they messed up the animations to be.

Unironically I think this is the reason why a lot of games might feel soulless to people. My depression has made it really hard to finish games, let alone enjoy them. Previous games that felt like they had soul are now void of it. I played DMC3 for a few hours and was just "meh" about it all. Though, on the other hand, I was able to genuinely enjoy and get a rush playing Metro Exodus (the part where you fight against the cannibals). So I know I'm not too far gone. I'm looking forward to it but I just have some concerns. Enemy AI seems limp. I mean even Hell Prides can jump around so noticing the Hell Canais barely move at all is very underwhelming. Buffing most of Nero's moves feels like a mistake since he was already strong in 4. Staying in the air is much easy now too and being in the air in DMC is too safe. Just some design decisions that I think shouldn't have passed through the development.

What bothers me most about his face is how inconsistent it is. I'm wondering if they even had time to finish him and his animations. He looks different in every screen shot. Did no QA's watch his cutscenes? It makes me mad that they're waiting for release to "reveal" him so normies can't raise enough stink for them to fix it. This is the finished product we get.

I don't think it works very well for an adult, but I'd love to see it going down mid fight or post fight. I think my issue with it is that everyone has pretty natural-looking hair in DMC5. Except for Trish, where it looks odd in some scenes. But Vergil's is just way too over-done. They want it slicked but they want the volume, too. It doesn't fall naturally anywhere, so it looks gelled up and crazy. Still, caring this much about something that doesn't matter too much is kinda weird. Game handles great, Dante vs Vergil theme is amazing and Lady is sexy as fuck. Life is good, we did it.
