>No, but while I'm also gay, I'd only do it if you were attractive *wink*
What did Obsidigay- I mean Obsidian, mean by this in Pillars of Eternity 2?

It's okay Barry, you can admit that you're gay. No one will judge you for it in 2019.
>can tell him to get out in the very pic that you posted
Okay what's the problem here?
Wow, your bigotry is showing
Literally nothing wrong with having a gay option. Sorry if that offends you but you're going to have to get over it.
Making threads about a dead game that no one discusses is his idea of revenge
Because they shilled it here so hard that the only people who buys games like that got pissed and didn't buy it.
I mean there was a guy who posted a thread every day as you recall, there was that guy who only posted a pic of the blond gay dude with a single word comment, etc. All paid for by the developers, of course (they knew each other and could identify fake posts even when they were identical to real ones).
Moral of the story don't alienate your buyers
>who only posted a pic of the blond gay dude with a single word comment
The characters not gay, but people certainly did pretend to take forced interest in it and you could sense it.
I would be completely fine with this dialogue if they had included a dialogue option for accusing him of being a degenerate pile of filth and tying him to the keel until dead as punishment for being a subhuman piece of shit.
Why does it have one extreme (gay sex) but not the other (puritanical crusading?).
Their bigotry is showing.
Gay as in a fucking annoying cunt (when posted, not in the game), not gay as in homosexual. The word has two meanings
Faggots aniki they are called faggots
>tfw I loved the first one, especially white march
>deadfire just ends up being really "meh" and forgettable
I was hoping Eder's questline would've actually been touching or sad but boy was I fucking wrong, the quest is so short you just don't even give a shit about the characters or conclusion
why do games even have fucking romances?
Because non-fucking romances are boring.
seriously, this pic has to be fake, that is some god awful writing, 10 year olds write better shit than that
>Yes
>No
>Gtfo
What's the problem here again? Don't you like having a choice in roleplaying games?
>you just don't even give a shit about the characters or conclusion
You just described the entire first game, most people just played it because they liked BG back in the day.
It can be a long-running side quest which makes your companions feel more alive. If done well, that is. In deadfire it's just to satisfy the weird gay fantasies of the writers.
>Using taught instead of taut
because it's immersive, makes heart go doki doki, and people want connections in a different world
>referring to someone by both their name and in third person in the same clause
I don't know if there is a rule against that but it comes off as absolutely abysmal writing
It felt pretty needless, honestly I didn't mind the first Pillars. I'd hesitate to call it really good or anything but I enjoyed it, I liked Thaos, I liked the debates you could get into about gods and what not with everyone. But by the end of the story it kind of felt like you wrapped everything up. You had your adventure, even went so far as to fuck with the gods in their realms and shit, then you were done. So Pillars 2 comes around and suddenly it's more shit, why? More changes to characters who already had their ending, but why? Also the whole politics and shit conflict falls flat when you realise it generally comes down to "all or nothing" with them, meaning you have little reason to do anything but abandon them all in the end, since you can't really do anything else without fucking over everyone.
Also, as a final note, they made a big deal about how if you take the baby she'll come back in the sequel. She sure did, only to literally do nothing and only say 1 generic line to you when you click on her. What a load of shit, why even bring attention to it Obsidian?
It flopped because people already figured out that obsidian fucking sucks after playing the first game. The first game sold really well on hype alone. The sequel sold poorly because people got wise to it. Theyre very much the same game, so thats really the only reason I can think of
>waaah why can't I call him a fag
No, it really isn't immersive since it's always so poorly written. Secondly, the setting is quite often "we have to save the world" so when would you have time to troll for some ass?
I also want to add that Tyranny also probably had a big part in it's downfall, too, since people were getting a bit worn out by their RPGs when Tyranny came out, especially since Tyranny was very unsatisfying what with everything after the first act being trash and hardly the villainous judge, jury and executioner campaign promised by the store page and even the game itself. A shame too, to this day Tyranny is one of the settings I most wish had a succesful game, I wanted to be an official in an evil empire finishing up taking over the world, that's an interesting fucking setup. A shame it's squandered as the only nuanced characters are your boss, who is also kind of a retard anyway, and maybe the chaos assassin guy if you can tolerate his anarchy stuff and listen to his lessons. Oh and your pen pal, who you never really do much with.
I feel like all the effort that used to go into characters now goes into the factions. I know people like New Vegas, but I've never seen the appeal of them. The DLCs in that game were much more interesting even though they were streamlined.
You could argue that for all literature with conflict as the core, we have to do X why do we have time to fuck around and make bonds? Generally speaking it's because the story takes place over a long period of time, you have to sleep and eat, and you often sleep and eat together. When you travel together like that of course you're going to interact a lot, and bonds form from that. Romance isn't unbelievable. The problem is in most games romance paths are too easy to activate, and too straight forward. People blurt their dark secrets out to you a little too easy for it to be actually believable or interesting. Also a lot of romances in games seem disconnected from the rest of the game, you're now in a happy relationship with X which comes across 0 times across the story. You did that sidequest, you'll get your ending slide, that's about it.
What effort? The only good companions were Durance and Eder.
Oh hey its like nostalgia bomb of that one autistic guy that spams pillars hate threads.
>Secondly, the setting is quite often "we have to save the world" so when would you have time to troll for some ass?
You could say the same thing about doing any side quests at all.
Reminder that you're posting in a mentally ill tranny lover's thread.
bonds doesn't have to mean fucking or even romance though. Either way, it's always so fucking forced in games that it simply doesn't work.
Romance on paper isn't unbelievable but the way it is literally always done in games makes it unbelievable.
true and doing sidequests is retarded if you think about it.
Thia but unironically
>resetera trannies advocating for less rp optiona
Fuck off faggot
How many guys can I fuck in the game and are the male romances like this "I like women women women bu I'll make an exception for you player!"
That's generally why in my opinion the best way to write a romance, if you want to write a romance into a game, is to only have 1 character. Flesh them out, give them reasons for them to fall in love with you, interact with them repeatedly. When you add more options you're diluting your pool more. These games don't focus on romance to begin with so it's never a good idea.
>Also a lot of romances in games seem disconnected from the rest of the game, you're now in a happy relationship with X which comes across 0 times across the story. You did that sidequest, you'll get your ending slide, that's about it.
Yeah, that part always bothers me. It would be better if the relationship was established sometime around the middle of the story, and then continued in subtle ways throughout the rest of the game, with your character and the other character actually talking to each other like people in a relationship.
Is this game worth playing?
I LOVED Tyranny and it's my 2nd favorite CRPG after planescape torment. But I didn't like Pillars 1. Will I enjoy pillars 2?
>detect taste through fingers
how does that work
No, I liked Pillars 1 but Pillars 2 is just "Pillars but more" and it isn't that interesting. It has some nice pirate-y set pieces here and there but the story is pretty hard to get invested in and the factions are kind of retarded. Each one of them have likeable characters and all, but everything they try to do is so fucking stupid it makes no sense. At least in Tyranny their retardation came about from the fact that both the leaders were on Kyros's shit list for that exact reason, and they have the go ahead to kill each other no matter the cost.
This thread doesn't look anything like those.
I can really only hope it's him. Like i'm expecting years of vengeance from him the only thing keeping him going is pure hatred.
yes you can be a whore user.
Opinions seem to differ wildly. I loved pillars1 but probably won't play it again after the improvements to mechanics/qol in deadfire, and the setting is a little on the generic fantasy side. Factions involved in colonizing an archipelago is more interesting to me, though I wish they had like another 6months/year to add content main story content.
I don't really get why this game is so polarizing, I think it's pretty solid. I have some niggles but same with every game.
>getting so triggered by shitposting about (your favourite game) you decide to dedicate yourself to shitposting
lmao what a fucking faggot
I managed to play through Pillars 1, after making a year break and then continuing on from the second half of the game and doing the DLC. That's how fun it was. It was an ok game, nothing special or memorable though
With PoE2 I came to the big fishman city but the whole game feels so incredibly dull so far that I have no wish to play it, I'm playing some NWN mods instead. I disliked the fish people in PoE1 because they're fucking boring and their culture is trash. In PoE2 seems like it's either fishpeople or black jews that talk like italians so it's nothing interesting. Maybe it gets better later, but even the companions seem super boring
