user, the people that liked Planescape are dead by now.

People realized that an RPG that forces you to pick a certain build (wis, int, char) to get a 3 times better experience, instead of just letting you role play as whatever you want and stuff have fun, is just garbage. People are also slowly realizing that dice rolls and RNG is stupid shit and isn't worth remembering.

Game was always bad and will be rightfully forgotten.

Western RPGs were never good outside 3D Bioware shit

Planescape Torment is the jazz of PC games. You can't deny this. Everyone pretends to like it

What makes this game an RPG and not just an adventure game?

Beamdog is a guilty of a number of different crimes. Here are the major ones.

1. The Enhanced Editions are essentially a collection of free mods that had existed for nearly twenty years. Beamdog gathered them all up, slapped "Enhanced Edition" on it and resold it as a new product. There's very very little in the Enhanced Editions that wasn't already out there, and most of it is stuff you don't want (like obnoxious character outlines).

2. The games didn't sell so well and the originals were still far outselling them, even twenty years after their release, so Beamdog had EVERY digital distributor stop selling the originals and ONLY sell the Enhanced Edition. If you want to buy a digital copy of the originals now, they're "bundled" into the Enhanced Edition. Now these scumbags can claim sales from people just wanting to buy the originals as their own.

3. The infamous 600+ bugs on launch. The game is still riddled with bugs (as even a perfunctory glance over their forums show) but the fact that it took nearly two years for them to get a game that had been working fine for 20 years to reach playability after launch is telling of their wild incompetence.

4. This is where we get to the ones that really piss people off. Beamdog couldn't just remaster the game, they had to fuck with the content too. New dialogue for existing NPCs like Jaheira, Viconia, Safana, Kivan, et cetera was written in to make the characters more progressive and leftist friendly. Beamdog shills will argue that "adding content isn't changing content XDDD" but it is when the new content changes the core personalities of the existing characters. This is in addition to adding a slew of their own LGBT (hitherto there were none in Baldur's Gate) NPCs, all flooded with OP attributes and magic items to encourage people to play them despite their cancer.

5. Siege of motherfucking Dragonspear.

But still here.

Planescape Torment is a brainlet filter not everyone can comprehend its greatness

Baldur's Gate is fucking garbage.
>le giant space hamster xD!
Cringe.

Fuck your journal nigga. I'm killing orcs to prevent a communist uprising.

The gameplay in those is slightly less shit. Also no, a lot of retards still dickride this shitty game in Yea Forums often.

It's not a game, it's a book. You pump WIS for dialogue and nothing matters, BG, IWD and Arcanum have a lot more actual gameplay and RPG to them.

Because the mainstream consensus shifted from BG2 being the best Infinity Engine game, to Planescape: Torment being the best Infinity Engine game over the last few years, so of course Yea Forums has to start hating PS:T now.

>What went wrong?
reddit invaded, trannyera invaded, zoomer brainlets invaded...
You can see them in this thread vomiting the noise their heads.

It's still the best written game of all time by far. It's just more of a visual novel than a video game. We probably won't see another game like it and of the same quality in our lifetimes.

Some people realized they didn't like it, which is fine. But otherwise it's mostly just people with the ever awful "WELL-LIKED THING BAD" mindset.

and weeaboos who think only ~*GLORIOUS NIPPONESE GAMES FROM GLORIOUS NIPPONLAND DESUDESU NYA ^__^*~ can be good

They all hanged themselves in their basements

It still is, but there's nothing else to say.

People make this comparison all the time but I feel they couldn't be more wrong
PS:T is first and foremost a game, you always have some degree of choice in how you approach dialogue and such, VNs barely let you make some pivotal choices here and there

Do you really have to do this every thread

I am playing it right now. Storywise is amazing. But first time I played it I made an unga bunga character and couldn't do shit. Now I made a smart character and I am going places and reading the world is fun to me. But the gameplay could really be a lot better.
Also I want to buy Numeria, but most people talk shit of the game, is it that bad? Mostly want it for another related storytelling and the music composed by Alexander Brandon.

it still shows up in every hardcore pc gaymurr's 3x3 and every "wrpg vs. jrpg" bait thread.

It is my favorite game of all time, played it many times over the years.

PS:T has garbage gameplay and pretentious overrated writing. How is it surprising that people prefer better games?

For some reason people got the idea that Planescape's writing was pretentious.
