Is DMC3 supposed to be really hard? I’m at the electric vampire lady and she keeps kicking my ass. I’m only on normal.

Yeah. Just practice. Pretty soon you'll feel that very hard is too easy
The entire series is very casual.
>are older games supposed to be hard
Yes.
git gud
>2005
>old
its only hard if you are retarded.
retarded people usually stop at cerebrus
what are you, 50?
>Is DMC3 supposed to be really hard?
Yes
Just take your time.
Hey its 2019 dude, fuck you!
she's one of those bosses that will kick your ass until you learn the timings and then you'll never get hit by her again.
just wait til the final boss.
Not him but mid-2000s is still modern as fuck. Old games are pre-2000 at best and even then you can go back almost 20 years to classics like Tempest. I bet you're one of those zoomer fags who started gaming on 6th generation and thinks the early 2000s were boomer
DMC3 bosses and most enemies just have way too much HP. Especially bosses.
Trickster = ez-mode
Just don't get greedy with her and optimize your combos.
>complains about enemies having too much health
>uses the style with no damage options
judgment kek
i started in 2002 but then again, not everyone is already dying here due to old age you grandpa
It's 14 years old, in other words it's older than you and most of this board
it’s COOL!
nah, I've used all except Gunslinger and prefer RG, but that's not exactly viable on your 1st playthrough
I’m 23
>literally what's wrong with vidya
You know it's you Ps2 kiddies that were milked dry with DLC and paid online right?
What part of the fight are you having trouble with?
i'm 23 too idiot
Not really. Once you get used to the mechanics, It's also too easy. She had really long start up frames so pay attention. Her batshield also only breaks to mellee weapons.
Swordmaster is way better. You get aerial combos and more moves. Trickster is a crutch that'll bore people.
I'm not 23
Mostly just keeping my health up but I’m being more patient and less greedy and it’s helping.
nah once you get the hang of it the games pretty easy. though i had to stop at the horse boss i believe which is after electric guitar lady?
i'm really tempted to play but i only have the funds for dmc5 coming soon and so i dont want to shit out another 30 just to play 3. help
One of the most important things to learn is to keep your ears open. Enemies telegraph their attacks with sound even more than they do visually. Nevan is especially easy to pick. Learn to recognize which phrase she speaks for each attack. Another tip: If she electrifies the floor, she's ALWAYS going to transition to doing the lightning bars after, so don't chase when she electrifies the floor.
iirc the dual-swords already had aerial combos, SW was great for Leviathan.
Use the ice weapon to breakdown her bats when she's laughing or not attacking. Watch her attack patterns.
She's weak to ice.
I beat her, I guess I just needed to be more patient and not so focused on the attack. That hurt me a lot in the soulsborne games too.
I'll be jumping into this tonight or tomorrow as soon as I'm done with DMC1.
How long will this take me? Bear in mind I have cuhrazy cred coming out my ass... DCM3 is the last major title in the genre I haven't played
Isn't she weak to Cerberus too?
>she's weak to Cerberus
Really? I never knew that. Truth be told, I exclusively use Rebellion and Beowulf. Nevan's too technical for me and I have no interest in A&R. Only time I've used Cerberus is for the A&R fight because of Revolver.
Any tips for 1? own the HD collection for the 360 but barely remember what the fuck I was doing. I remember having to stomp some bugs in a particular room tho
>Dmc3
Normal is Japanese for hard
Anywhere from 6 hours to 20 depending on your skill. It's short. My first time was 24 hours and it was my second DMC after 1.
anyone changed their control settings? i put jump on a shoulder button on a suggestion but its awkward to jump dodge and final vergil is killing me over and over
Way to go! Your next boss is my favorite non-Vergil fight in the game, but he's a toughy. Good luck with it.
You'll probably have a pretty easy time of it. It's not that hard on Normal. DMC3 has some meat on it, though. There's a lot of story, and it's pretty good. Some really long missions, too.
>6 hours to 20
Fuck. I'm gonna have to rush a bit. I wanna be done with it before DMC5. I wanna play Soulcalibur god damn it!
It's not gonna take you 20 hours. Don't rush. If you're as comfortable with action games as you say, you're looking at 10-12 hours for a first play.
I have limited time upcoming.
>It's not gonna take you 20 hours.
Yeah but it's not gonna be 6 either. I'm gonna have to pull a couple late nights this week. Oh well. Should be fun.
Just learn that jumping has iframes on the first arc. Use DT.
DMC3 is not a rushing game. It's designed for replays. To be fun just to play. I still come back to it because I crave some stylish combos.
>want to replay 4 since i dont own the other dmcs at the moment
>remember the awful level design
fuck me. maybe i should just play the dmc5 demo again
>DMC3 is not a rushing game.
Sure it is. Maybe I'll invest red orbs in items so I can cheese out bosses with heals and shit rather than lose a ton.
Yes.
Nevan is extremely routine. One of the easiest enemies to beat without taking a single hit, but will fuck up anybody who is just trying to brute force their way towards her as she teleports between the sides and center of the room. The only attack of her's that is troublesome are her electric pillars sent out in patterns if you're too close.
Just observe for a while, focus on dodging each attack. You'll see that she is very slow and will stand there for quite a while after each attack before moving on to the next.
When she starts chasing after you to give you the kiss of death, pop devil trigger and she won't be able to.
She fucked me up with that grab she does near the when she's on the ropes and drains most of your health and restores her own, didn't know using devil trigger breaks you out of it.
It's pretty tough, but it should only take you about 4 hours on normal at most
xdd he said it
royalguard is ez mode
you take no damage and you can do 90% of any bosses health with one just release
Cerberus wrecks Nevan, just make sure to buy Revolver
Dmc 3 is my fav game ever and i cant bring myself to even finish 4 despite nero being nlmy extreme desired asthetic for myself
Dont force it
I left it default, but bayonetta scheme would work well
1 and 3 are the hard entries in the series. 4 becomes more casualised with the introduction of Nero but at least Dante has the best gameplay so far in the series. The only hard part about is the Bloody Palace if you try and complete it with Dante. With Nero it’s a cakethrough.
yeah mainly wanted to be playing nero to some extent. not even vergil/lady/trish makes me want to play the game again.
X jump
Square normal strike
Triangle special action
Circle guns
Taunt left stick click
>DMC
>Hard
Nope, DMC3 is rather easy compare to the other entry in the series...well, maybe except DMC2.
Hows the collection on steam? Iv heard about it having issues
DMC2 is actually the hardest because you're constantly fighting the urge to stay awake while mashing the shoot button
Also good luck S-ranking any mission because the style system is beyond fucked and every enemy takes 10 decades to kill
Rahdjahhsja
>Is DMC3 supposed to be really hard?
On normal, no. It is challenging, sure, but it never gets to a really hard point
Compared to which entry? DMC1?!
what issues?
You can do her as a quasi-ranged fight if you want, I would kite her to one side and then rush to seat on the stairs and annoy her with gunshots. You learn her patterns and which attacks you can move in for. Her deathkiss thing has a particular counter, but its easier just to get her to miss it and then you can lay in damage. She also has this shield thing that bullets cant hurt, but you should be able to sword it np. Her lightning attack doesnt reach the stairs from the middle of the arena as well. It's a pretty easy fight if you don't mind doing it unstylishly.
I did the entire playthrough with the sword and the guns, so I dunno if there's a better combo for it.
1 is very easy on Normal, though. Devil Trigger is immensely powerful. You can literally facetank bosses on Normal because of DT. 3's harder than 1.
>older is not old
Playing 3 for the first time. What's the best style to choose?
So OP, did you beat her yet?
Whichever one you like best, although Royalguard is probably a bad choice for your first time, and gunslinger is only for looking cool in combo videos and abusing Spiral's move.
youtube.com
He did.
It breaks to gunfire as well, but melee is far more effective anyway.
>ruins your SS
Start with Trickster. When it gets to level 2, switch to Swordmaster. The dedicated dodge button will make the first few missions feel a little less overwhelming, but it's a crutch you shoudn't learn to rely on. The reason to stick with it until level 2 is the air dash you get. It's really handy for some of the platforming and navigation challenges. Swordmaster is better for teaching you the fundamentals of what you'll be doing in 4 and 5.
Not always. Sometimes she electrifies the floor a second time after teleporting again, and she rarely combos into other moves, but it does happen.
These guys make so much noise that I don't have trouble with them. It's the Greeds with their 50 minute long attack cycle that always fucks up my rhythm.
You've only scratched the surface of how good revolver is, especially when it's at level 2. I used to be just like you, just sticking to rebellion and Beowulf (killer bee is effective against Nevan's bat shield as well), but there are a lot of enemies weak to Cerberus, more so than enemies weak to any other weapon.
Is it just me or does Beowulf feel kind of weak compared to the other gauntlet weapons in the series? It doesn't have the same oomph that Ifrit and Gilgamesh have.
Rather than waiting until she grabs you, just have devil trigger turned on as she approaches and the grab won't connect, but she'll keep coming towards you, leaving herself wide open. She'll blunder right into your onslaught like a dumbass, waiting for her grab to connect when it never will. If you're short on magic, remember that taunting replenishes magic.
Swordmaster or Trickster. Former adds new moves to each melee weapon for more variety while latter adds mobility skills like dash and teleport that you can use regardless of equipment, making movement and dodging easier. Though remember there's also a non-dedicated dodge button regardless of style as well; while locked onto an enemy press jump and tilt analog stick to a direction to perform an evasive roll.
Guns are mostly a bit underpowered compared to melee weapons and you still want to melee shit most of the time, so I wouldn't recommend Gunslinger. Royal Guard is extremely powerful but very difficult to use and it's not as flashy as other styles in terms of new abilities. You also unlock Quicksilver and Doppelganger styles later on but they're one trick pony gimmicks that don't really add anything interesting, and their abilities use up same mana that devil trigger uses so they're not very good in that sense either.
there's no shame in starting on easy. You keep your abilities, weapons. play at whatever difficulty you're comfortable with and if you really like the game, you can play on the harder difficulties later
Never understood people who recommend Trickster for new players, I was hated that shit and just go full Swordmaster because I'm dumb and I like having more attack options. Only played trickster in 4 cause it's almost obligatory to deal with some enemies.
Some moves like the charged combos or zodiac feel flimsy, but killer bee and real impact are very satisfying to me, as well as the square crazy where it's a flurry of kicks followed by a flurry of punches.
As someone who also prefers offense, I developed a taste for trickster when I realized that level 3 let's you stay on top of enemies at all times instead of having to stop to chase them down.
Trickster is only good until Cerberus. Anything after that, It's a crutch. Imagining fighting Fallen with Trickster is giving me a migraine.
