I did too, but most people would say it's broken without mods. I did encounter one issue where Sidorovich's door wouldn't open no matter what. SoC is by no means perfect without mods.

Vanilla is shit and there's no consensus as to which mod pack is best for first time players.

this garbage happens even with mods, only way to fix it is bruteforcing with knive-spam or grenades and hoping you get good rng.

The last time i played Stalker, I died a bunch of times to the same fucking bandit because the gun mechanics are so shit in the game I couldn't hit him from more than 10 ft away with a handgun. Garbage.

If you want an authentic Stalker experience, it's pretty much ZRP or bust. Anything else changes the base game too much and turns into a different game entirely.

they really fucked up badly by giving you the absolute worst guns in the game right at the beginning. once you get better guns the gun mechanics are great, but the beginning is a massive fucking slog because of it

here's a quick tip for using handguns in stalker

take the time to line up the your sight with a bandits head, then mash away at the trigger and magdump into his fucking skull. congrats, you just landed your first kill with the makarov. now go loot a few corpses and pick up a shotgun instead of complaining about why the worst weapon in the game is a piece of shit.

the sawed off shotgun is not much better for human enemies.

it can kill most nigs with 1 or 2 shots at close range, the only problem is the damage falls off at any distance thats further than like 10 meters away

I'm playing it for the first time with AMK AA.
It's ok outside of the one hit kill aimbot enemies. I had to tweak the files to make things fair.
