What games does that clickbait website list?
How on Earth would somebody have gotten hyped for Two Souls? The entire reveal trailer boiled down to, 'yeah the Heavy Rain guy is doing THIS shit again'.
Anyway, on-topic, Zero Time Dilemma.
>Unreal Tournament 3
>Brink
>Guild Wars 2
>Diablo 3
>Battlefield 3
Yea sure. Anyone claiming it's not disappointing legitimately has to be an autistic story-fag or BBS is their favorite game or some shit.
Gonna need a bigger list.
15. Sea Of Thieves
14. Evolve
13. Destiny
12. The Order 1886
11. Metroid Other M
10. Mass Effect Andromeda
9. Fallout 76
8. Anthem
7. Resident Evil 6
6. Dead Island
5. Final Fantasy XIII
4. Star Wars Battlefront 2
3. Alien's Colonial Marines
2. No Man's Sky
1. Duke Nukem Forever
normalfags have a huge boner for David Cage. Heavy Rain was a success.
Final Fantasy XV
Metal Gear Solid 5
Zero Time Dilemma
Metroid Other M
>Anyone claiming it's not disappointing legitimately has to be an autistic story-fag or BBS is their favorite game or some shit.
KH3 wasn't great but to say it's a disappointment on the levels of stuff like MGS5 and FFXV is just wrong.
What was disappointing about Fallout 3? Were you even alive when it released?
diablo 3 is the most disappointing game
>Fallout 76
>Anthem
The writing was on the wall with these. If you were disappointed you weren't paying attention
This is what I hate about Top 10 lists. All those games are solid, but there's way more that could have been included.

I like it.
Did you play 1 or 2 prior to 3? This should be pretty obvious if you were a Fallout fan when 3 came out and not just a kid who liked Bethesda.
What retards.
the order? really? It was just a good looking cover shooter, it didn't have much promise. I didn't know dead island had much hype behind it. everyone paying attention knew fallout 76 would suck. Add in invisible war and thief 3, those were incredibly disappointing games for series fans. Invisible war definitely takes the number one spot for me. The demo was so bad I didn't even buy the sequel to my favorite game ever.
lol
No
>A fallout fan
That's probably the difference. Fallout fans are like nintendo fans, they're fat ugly autistic losers that obsess over very dumb, petty shit and can't into logic.
As a well-mannered and functioning adult I didn't really have a problem with Fallout 3.
>I didn't know dead island had much hype behind it
It was probably the most hyped game of that year purely because of a stupid CGI trailer everyone jerked off over.
3/4 of those games looked like trash the moment they were announced. How the fuck could you have hope for them in the first place?
>Spore
>MGSV
>Mario Strikers Charged
>Mass Effect 3
>Aliens Colonial Marines
>EverQuest 2
>FF13
>FF15
>Metroid Other M

epic
That game wasn't that bad for a Johnny Cage game desu.
> Metal Gear Solid 2
What the fuck was their explanation for that one?
Wow. GTA4? MGS2? Uncharted 3?
Wow what losers ...This list is better
FFXIII
DA2
MGSV
it was super disappointing. I set my expectations lower after each trailer. I was expecting it to be meh and it still turned out far worse than I could have imagined.
Let's be honest: While the gameplay was fun everyone was let down by the whole Raiden stuff and bomb freezing crap back when it first released. People needed a long time to learn to appreciate MGS2.
Devil May Cry 2
Duke Nukem Forever
Street Fighter X Tekken
Spore
Mighty Number 9
>MGS2
>Brutal Legend
How the fuck? Also Too Human wasn't disappointing because it was clear it would be shit.
The first 12 years of the 2000s were pretty great but we've gone too far
>DA2
yes
add in inquisition as well for good measure.
FFXIII was also shit.
MGSV was a pretty good game with way too much padding. Strange how it managed to have great gameplay while still feeling like such a colossal let down, but I guess that's what happens when you make a switch to open world that nobody asked for. Same with Inquisition and Andromeda.
and the bad ending.
Hell, I outright skipped the AI speech at the end of MGS2.
I have tried to listen to it but I just remember how MGS4 proves that they are not right so I stop.
Beyond is one of Cage's dumbest plots, and that's saying something. That's even if you ignore that the game is presented to you out of order for no real reason in a way that's so confusing that they had to fucking patch in a mode that lets you play it chronologically.
Detroit > Heavy Rain > Indigo Prophecy > Beyond Two Souls > Omikron
Detroit is the only one that's not complete shit and that's only because the two main actors of one third of the game were charismatic and ad libbed lines.
KH3
FFXIII
MGSV
soon: DMCV
Diablo 3
WoW post pandaria
Oblivion was horrible
Beyond Two Souls had really good soundtrack but it was wasted on such a shit game
It's actually quite good if you listen to it again nowadays. I was 12 when that game released and a lot of stuff went over my head but nowadays I can get enjoyment out of that speech even though it is - typical for a Japanese game - extremely long-winded and redundant.
Cage's games all have good music. David fucking Bowie did music and voice acting for his first and by far worst game.
Heh Omikron. That game had such interesting art direction and graphics for the time. Too bad they tried to merge together so many genres together and did none of them well.
Right. Fans of games are subhuman and developers should make every effort to appeal to any demographic except the people who want to pay for their product.
>FF15

>too sanitized, but can still goof around
Sure, it was a letdown, but I played it nevertheless
DMC2 was more disappointing than DmC. 2 was the followup to the original, which was popular and set a really fresh bar that 2 failed to clear spectacularly; 2 having some of the best sales in the series off of 1's hype and 3's initial sales being lower than 1's off of 2 hurting the brand is enough to prove that.
DmC wasn't disappointing because from the moment we saw the first trailer people knew it was a complete misstep.
I didn't even expect anything out of Inquisition after 2 and all the diversity bullshit we got to know beforehand.
I think the main problem with MGSV was that the trailers were all so damn good. They fully delivered on gameplay but the trailers gave rise to story expectations that could never be satisfied.
>lists 20 good video games
>no FFXV
>brings up DMC5 despite it not being out
Hello Barry.
MGS2 ruined the series with Liquid Ocelot & cliffhanger bullshit
Nice one.
This. Even my teenage self in the early 2000s went like "They aren't seriously pulling off that crap with the arm."
> Actually defending Dragon Age II, FFXV, Assassn's Creed or Cisquisition
Go back
After all these years people are still butthurt over dead island
2 has a great ending both narratively and non-narratively. 4 just took a giant diegetic dump on it, which I suppose was inevitable after tomokazu fukushima's exit and the following nosedive in mgs' writing.
>2 has a great ending both narratively and non-narratively
except for the unresolved shit involving Ocelot and the AI
If it was since 2007 or so I could understand, thats when things went really downhill. Gaming was still great up till around 2005.
Though on topic, I can say though with confidence
>Any non MMO final fantasy after FFIX
>Any walking simulator that existed ever...EVER
>Anything and I mean ANYTHING that pushed a political narrative past about 2008
>most of the indie garbage aside like a choice really well made group of games
>almost all MMO's
>Resident evil past 4 for the most part
>Megaman X past X4
>FF7 turning into anything but its original game, the extended universe is an embarrassment of original:the characters, and unfortunate plot garbage
>MGS existing past 3
>Minecraft's wasted potential in general
>The Wii in its entirety, yes almost the entire fucking library. It caused Nintendo's downward spiral into catering to autistic casual fuccboi faggots with no skill yet loud mouths.
>Pokemon still existing in general
>NieR: Automata
This game was so fucking bad but I was only looking forward to it because I got fooled by the manipulative trailer which made combat look good & all the people in the comments saying how it was going to be the best action game ever I didn't realise those retards were just taro fans who were used to strait up unplayable combat.
Driv3r
SH4
part of what mgs 2 is about is that not everything needs closure. that whole speech about context isn't just an in-narrative thing. who cares who the patriots are, or where ocelot's loyalties really lie? at least that was the message that went over everyone's -- especially konami's -- heads.
Not exactly a post-2k game but the Homeworld remaster
How can you even be disappointed at heavy rain? Like, literally one google search gives away its kind of "gameplay"
And XV, and the original release of XIV
Isn't at this point heavily modded minecraft better than the vanilla game could have ever been?
Because the concept & plot sounded great at the time. I was disappointed with the horribly written story
Top xyz lists are purposefully shitty because it gets more clicks.
In no particular order:
>FFXIII
The moment when I lost all of my fucking faith in Square-Enix, what a stupid linear piece of shit with a horrible plot pacing. XV was also a failure, but at that point I had no expectations left.
>MGS V
First they nail the gameplay, but then they botch the story in the worst way possible to ruin the finish of one of my favorite game series.
>DMC2
Jesus Christ.
>Mass Effect 3
I don’t even hate it as much as the average Yea Forumsermin does, but it felt just so damn lukewarm. Lukewarm absolutely does not cut it after having both 1 & 2 being so fucking brilliant, and yes, it really felt like shit to have all the past decisions amounting to nothing in the ending.
>Diablo 3
The launch was pure ass with retardedly low drop rates, lack of content, and stupid RMAH. RotS made it playable, but I’d still much rather play Grim Dawn or PoE just because they actually allow me to feel the satisfaction of advancing towards a proper build. What a letdown.
>Spore
I’d rather play a 1 good game than 5 half-assed and clunky ones with no depth to them at all.
>Resident Evil 6
I expected a fun action romp in style of 4 and 5, I got a bloated abomination that lasts far too long for its own good. It literally feels as if they took every idea that anyone presented in the design sessions, and then they just implemented them without thinking about whether it will work or not.
>Too Human
Wildcard! Silicon Knights used to be one of my favorite ”underrated” studios, but then they shitted this piece of shit. Plot makes no sense, gameplay amounts to sliding around some nondescript cyber caves and whacking hordes of enemies to obtain some small incremental upgrades. So terrible that it has to be experienced to be believed.
What was wrong with it?
It could be but, the mod loaders for minecraft are 2 major updates behind now, and those versions are missing actual GOOD updates to the game so its hit or miss depending on the things you want out of minecraft.
>who cares who the patriots are, or where ocelot's loyalties really lie?
I didn't care about that. They still needed to be stopped.
>battlefield 3
All the kiddos think it's the hottest shit in the franchise now.
Any list that doesn't include Duke Nukem Forever, Spore, and Daikatana is 100% underage.
>daikatana released in 2000
Fucking really?
>people saying shit that came out in the past few years
Man Yea Forums is getting stupider every day
It cut me deep. No issues with the graphics, but they utterly fucked up formations and didn't include tactics nor real-time ballistics. These all affect gameplay as well as visual pleasure. The end result is shitty combat and units behaving very differently from the original, which obviously fucked up the balance too.
PC Splinter cell double agent
Gothic iv / risen
Rome 2
it doesn't have to be that way. a lot of fantastic works have inconclusive plot threads and are quite deliberate about it. raiden and snake stopping the S3 plan isn't really what the game was about. I do understand that a lack of surface-level closure can be dissatisfying though.
why is anthem on this list? no one was expecting anything good. how can you be disappointed?
But to be honest, did anyone really expect anything from DNF after it was stuck in that development hell and Gearbox finally got the job to parse something out of the scraps? At least I can remember that when it was released, my interest was more of morbid curiosity than actual excitement.
Spring of 2000, really. What a great start to the millenium!
Crysis
Ignoring your other bullshit but really by the time duke Nukem actually came out did anyone really expect it to be good?
Still life 2
>Metal Gear Solid 2
What in the god damn
Spore
idk, but honestly the first game I had genuine hype for was either Destiny or Evolve. Destiny was ok for me, but Evolve was such a blow to the dick that I don't think i ever got excited for another game ever again. Not in a way that made me genuinely hype.
Requiring DLC to play the game after you beat was pretty shitty.
Zero Time Dilemma
KH3
FFXV
Steins;Gate 0
Assassins Creed 3
All had such potential to be far better than they were.
>We're as far away from the year 2000 as 2000 was from 1981
literally who cared about david cage being an ellen page creeper
Hasn't Sea of Thieves improved quite a bit?
I guess it would be better if all the updates were released day one.
Fallout 76 might be going the same way.
>11. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2
Did anyone ever have any hope for that? The first wasn't even anything special.
>Too Human
I’m still mad
Kh3 is my favorite kh game, and i've played them all.
Vanilla kh2 tho, now that was disappointing

Aliens vs predator 3 was huge disappointment for me.
Which is why it was disappointing when the second was complete trash that didn't even live up to the mediocre first game
Only if you ignore most of the first decade of the 2000s.
>Crysis 2
>Daikatana

>>Duke FUCKING Nukem FUCKING forever
I was expecting something messy but never imagined it would be quite as bad as it was. Games like TF2 and STALKER turned out fine despite nightmarish dev cycles, DNF's problems do not begin or end with its long development.
>>Guild Wars 2
I still can't believe I fell for this shit. I just really wanted to a game with good necromancy of some sort.
>Mass Effect 2
>Halo 5
>Pokemon SM
>FE Fates: Conquest
>Fallout 4
I’m still mad about Diablo III
Spore is forever #1, SimCity 2014 should replace FO76 because everyone should have known better by then.
Otherwise good list
Spore
Hellgate London
Aliens: Colonial Marines
Resident Evil 5
Mass Effect 3
Command and Conquer 4
Diablo 3
StarCraft 2
Dawn of War 3
Mechwarrior Online
I will never forgive Bioware for ME3, and I will always hate EA for what they did to Westwood and C&C, and StarCraft 2 was such a let down I quit those games altogether, I will never forgive Gearbox for what they did to Colonial Marines, and Dawn of War 3 singlehandedly killed that franchise. EA and Gearbox will never get my money again, neither will Blizzard. I just hope to god Relic doesn't fuck Age of Empires 4 up, I want them to try to redeem themselves and make another good Dawn of War game. I need it. I need a win.
>Mass Effect Andromeda
>Not 3
DragonBall Fighterz
>Dawn of War 3
Relic had been making good RTS games for nearly 20 years before they made DoW3. How on Earth did they fuck it up so hard with all that experience under their belt?
Kill me Pete.
>mfw MW2 nostalgia threads
>Spore
>Starbound
>Smash ultimate
>Mighty No.9
>Yooka Laylee
>StarCraft 2
What went so wrong here? I was more of an aoe2 guy.
>Haze
>Too Human
Who the fuck was even excited for these games? The only thing I even remember from Haze was the Korn song.
>MGS2
>Brutal Legend
>GTAIV
????
Not a lot of us Total War dudes out there brother. Rome 2 broke my heart.
>Command and Conquer 4
I already forgot that this existed, FUCK FUCK FUCK. It’s also one of those cases where I have no idea how they fucked it up so hard, because EA’s own CnC games had been mostly good up until that point. Yea, Red Alert 3 was just OK-ish, but Tiberium Wars was actually good, so I didn’t expect for them to flunk that hard.
Fuck I meant to put that in my list.
Fucking Rome 2.
I doubt many will agree with me but
>The Witcher 2
It was so fucking boring and pretentious it put me off the entire franchise. I still haven't played The Witcher 3 and probably never will because of how much The Witcher 2 sucked.
your favourite KH ame has 27 bosses & they all suck & have barely any moves.
Any list without Diablo 3, Mass Effect 3, and Starcraft 2 on it is invalid. Sure there are worse games. Sure there are disappointing ones. But so rarely do games generate such hype and take such a proactive interest in being shit as these 3.
Honorable mentions:
Deus Ex: Human Revolution and the Tomb Raider reboot after the first game
>Hasn't Sea of Thieves improved quite a bit?
The land combat still sucks but they're finally adding lore and shit to change up the gameplay loop which is the game's biggest weakpoint.
Off the top of my head and only shit I've tried:
Diablo 3
Mass effect 3
Fable 3 (fable 1 if you're a brainlet)
Age of empires 3
Dark souls 2
Dragon age 2
Sea of thieves
No Mans sky
Kingdoms of amalur
Duke nukem forever
Command and conquer 4
Metal gear solid 5
Cod ww2
Dragons dogma online
Dead island (only cos of the trailer being so damn good)
Bonus: silent hills, Sc-ghost and tiberium for most disappointing cancellation
I agree with all of these except for RE6 and FFXIII.
Wasn't 4's poor plot blamed on some western writer with a terrible track record who got on the dev team? I can't remember his name.
Kh3
Ffxv
DMC
Fallout online
MGS5
Anthem
I’ll give you like 3 of those shit.
Daggerfall
Megaman 2
Majora's Mask
Halo
Final Fantasy VI
Metroid Fusion
Street Fighter 3
Doom 2016
Final Fantasy IX
Super Mario Party
GTA IV in PC
Pokemon (the whole franchise)
Silent Hill 4
take out 76 and put in Spore. to be disappointed, you had to have hope in the first place. non-retards knew exactly what 76 was before it was released
>Dead island (only cos of the trailer being so damn good)
If you judge a games quality based on a cinematic trailer with no gameplay footage, you deserve to get shat on every single time.
Kojima Silent Hill was never going to be good
I love how the best friends predicted the big plot twist like 20% of the way in.
Nah man, they added roaming ships and a few sharks. A rowboat and a volcano area, as well as a bunch of other clutter.
But the main game is still dull as fuck with zero stakes.
Like there's really no point doing missions cos the money is worthless if you like your outfit or sails.
The game is one of the biggest examples of wasted potential.
They must have spent all their time making the ocean and graphics, without stopping and wondering what the point would be.
Catalyst opened my eyes to the current state of gaming.
Battlefront confirmed the cruel reality.
Yet I still cling to Bannerlord.
Change RE5 for RE6 and we're golden
RE5 was just 4 but better in terms of gameplay, and worse in terms of the opening level.
> Yea Forums is so retarded that they literally are incapable of reading the "SINCE 2000" part
Typical, Boomers are autistic cunts
Smash 4
DDR Supernova
THPS 5
Sonic the Hedgehog 4
Spore
Star Fox Zero
But to be fair, pretty much all of these games had several flags telling you they were going to suck ass.
15 times FFXV.
I personally agree, but I put it on the list cos I know heaps of cunts were mad.
I actually like the game.
You could swap it for daikatana, or spore.
Or godus
Or oblivion
Or fallout 4
Or swtor
>expecting anything from a sonic game ever since games started going 3d
Well at least you have cities skyline as a replacement
RE6 is such a mixed bag for me. I really enjoyed Leons campaign, found Sherry & Ada OK, but then Chris campaign and the controls felt god awful.
Dunno about 15 but I'll try.
>Spore
>KH3
>Nier Automata (not bad, just overrated and that demo was really misleading)
>FFXV
>Dragon Age 2
>Skyrim (I legitimately believed Todd's lies)
>Fallout 4 (can't stop falling for his sweet little lies)
>GTA IV (downgrade from SA imo)
>Deus Ex MD (still good, but unfinished)
>MGS 5
>DaS III (although I've warmed up to it recently)
>Fallout 4
>lies
I don't recall anything about this looking promising in any promotional material, wasn't the dialogue wheel shown very early?
I was skeptical of it too, but I thought at the very least it'd be skyrim tier. FO:4 is so dull and repetitive it makes Skyrim look like NV.
>this millennium is older than I was when it started
