>Be Melee >Universally agreed to be the fully realised Super Smash Bros. that Sakurai intended, taking everything good from the first game and building on it >Cool weird glitches that played a role in the development of a competitive scene that literally did not exist before >Has somehow managed to survive for 17 years >Interesting personalities/relatively normal top players (except for Mew2King, who also happened to play Brawl and Smash 4)
>Be Brawl >Entire section of the fanbase is disappointed that the game is purposefully anti-competitive >So much so that they dedicate their time to modding it into a more competitive game >Rides on the coattails of Melee's success >Game dies immediately after Smash 4 is released
>Be Smash 4 >Brawl 2.0 >Pretty much an air-dodge simulator >Attracted autistic personalities like ZeRo, Salem and Captain Zack >Spawned stinky memes, which are incorrectly attributed to Melee players >Game dies immediately after Ultimate is released
>Be Ultimate >3 months after release >Top 5 most popular attendees at Smash Ultimate Summit are all Melee players >Will be dead 4/5 years from now to make way for Smash 6
Melee will never die, and there's nothing you can do about it.
Brawl is still considered by a few people to be the best in terms of a few things, I kinda agree because the soundtrack is still godlike and the subspace emmissary is still super good
I'm glad it got outshined in a lot of departments by ultimate, really fucking cool to see it that way
Melee isn't going to die because of the paving done by the community - smashladders, ISO's, everything needed to keep it on life support was finished years ago. It's still fun to play, and is gonna ride on nostalgia for literal decades. Damned shame that the community had to force so many changes to the absolute core of the game to make it competitive, though.

No you don't get it user. Sakurai meant for those glitches to exist.
When he made the game, he intended for Final Destination to be the real stage, the rest of it is just window dressing. The assists and items were a glitch, actually, Mewtwo making you fall through the stage was an intended feature. He made Roy a fucking joke compared to Marth to judge your character select decision making skills. He ALWAYS knew that eventually the community would ban Jigglypuff, because it is the only way to achieve the true form of the game that Sakurai intended, laserfurry mirrors.
As a final master touch, he gave birth to four autistic masters through the Force, to make sure that nobody ever tries to dispute the gospel of Sakurai.
>force so many changes to the absolute core of the game Explain how using ingame features to not play on shitty stages and turning off items is "changing the absolute core of the game" The closest thing you could even possibly argue as a community change is UCF, which is more about standardizing variations across different controllers
Caleb Robinson
Developer intent is meaningless.

Nobody cares fucking faggot, you had fun while it lasted at evo but now it's gone, we didn't complain when 3rd strike was taken off
>Universally agreed to be the fully realised Super Smash Bros. that Sakurai intended is that why sakurai intentionally set out to make brawl the anti-melee in every way? face it, meleefag, sakurai definitely didn't intend your whole autistic "scene." now take a shower.
>brawl >the anti-melee the opposite of melee is probably sega bass fishing or something. Just because Brawl doesn't have some mechanics only sperg-creatures care about doesnt make it the anti-melee.
What, is Mario Party 2 now the anti-Mario Party 1?
William Hernandez
>Be the Smash experience Sakurai intended >Mostly competitive viable via glitches and oversights of the game that were not intended Right off the bat you contradicted yourself.
I love Melee but the character balance is what holds Melee back the most outside of maybe the complete sperg community. Half the cast is pretty much worthless outside of pools or super specific matchups where they aren’t THAT bad but better options exist among top tiers. Another quarter of the roster is pretty good and can actually top 8 a supermajor with the right bracket, but won’t win anything of note unless you point at some regional where the mid tier player was like 50 ranks above his opponents. If Project M replaced Brawl Melee would’ve died with Ken and Isai.

Can someone explain to me why the smash Bros plus dlc bunlde is more expensive than buying both of them separately on the switch eShop?
Is there something I'm missing?
Kayden Fisher
Forgot to add on, if Armada were to randomly select a character and gauntlet his way up the 2018 top 100 there’s roughly a 50% chance he gets his ass beat by some rank 90-something.
Leo Taylor
>If Project M replaced Brawl Melee would’ve died with Ken and Isai. I want to live in this timeline. Not because I hate melee, but because I want to see how things would have changed if Brawl actually tried to be a proper successor.
Carter Gray
*sniff sniff* Uh, anybody else smell that?
Joshua Brooks
yeah smells like a meleefag
Mason Green
>be meleefag >start playing Melee 17 years ago >haven’t showered since
Owen Jones
>Sakurai creates the game as he initially intended to without any real limitations >A community of fanatics discover glitches and find a way to make it competitive
How are these in any way connected? They're two completely separate points, hence them being literally separated in the OP.
