Sengokus translation is ass. Hence why a lot are waiting for a retranslation by MG to replay.

Rance is a series which switches up gameplay with each game.
5D is RNG the game. Literally, events are based on roulette wheel, and actions you take in combat is based on dicerolls.
VI is absolutely fantastic dungeon crawler.
Sengoku (7) is great lite-grand strategy.
Quest (8) is... I dunno how to describe it, there's lots of short dungeons and missions that you can do and replay, many ways to build your party, characters have limited moves... It's fun, but there's really not any games like it.
IX is an okay SRPG.
I have no fucking idea how X plays.

7-9 are all 100% translated and X is at 28%. God knows whats keeping them from releasing 7-9

I like to think they are debating a steam release which is delaying things. I know mangagamer wants to try out the steam release but the support for adult games is very uncertain. I don't think they have a problem with trying it, but they want to support their customers incase the game gets removed from the store which is why they haven't gone all in yet.

7 is in testing right now. 8 and 9 are at tech-work.

How many months for Sengoku and will get Quest before the decade ends?

Until recently I had only played Sengoku, but this summer I started playing X and having recently finally finished it, I must say that it's incredibly different from Sengoku but also a top 25 game to me. What a fucking adventure.

I remember people were railing on Kagura games for requiring a separate patcher when Steam announced it'll support anything. After the spotty moderation people finally shut the fuck up about it. Must have been sweating bullets.

Beta is scheduled to go on for few weeks. If you remember Haruka(Jesus, that was a while ago) it only had three weeks of testing which was insane for everybody involved.
I'd say that it's safe to expect Sengoku in Spring or early Summer.

I hope we can put out Quest in Fall. The game is pretty functional now, but there's some technical stuff that needs to be sorted out.
And given how fuckhuge it is, there's no way all of it can be tested without cheating.

It's impossible that Rance will ever get the steam greenlight,. Even Evenicle which is much lighter would get the cross as soon as Valve's review sees the guro scenes.

Evenicle did really well, so we'll probably want to get it out relatively soon. Arunaru is pretty busy with other stuff, but there's no reason some other translator couldn't work on it.

The translation was taken care of pretty painlessly, and since tech work hasn't started properly yet I'm not sure how bad it'll be. But by the rule of thumb never Alicesoft games use engines that are easier to work with.
The worst thing about IX for me is that there's absolutely massive amount of graphics. Sure, some of it can be automated, but there's so much manual adjustments needed.

There's some consideration, but given how much overlap there's between teams usually that shouldn't be a problem. But given how IX and Quest have different programmer and translator, it might happen. There's gonna be few months of a gap at least.

We give physicals to games which do well, releasing everything digitally first. It kinda sucks, but we just can't afford to sit on lots of unsold stock for Tittybang 901.

That's been changed to Client State. Many of these changes are sort of arbitary, but when you're working on something that has existing translation, you want to make it different enough to be safe.
There's few lines in new Sengoku translation that even I thought were funnier originally, but that's just handful, and overally the TL is much better.

Eiyu Senki if your looking something with a near identical style. Has a few improvements and evolution, but is far less replayable then Sengoku Rance. For anyone who has played, how does Gold compare to basegame, I did hard route on the base game and there is nothing really left to sink my time into.

Locale is the easy part. But making the game run in English results in some really weird errors, for example when testing on Sengoku started if the game registered too many messages in one session(which would happen after several hours of playing) it would simply crash. That was solved pretty quickly, but stuff like that keeps happening.
The hacker in our team is absolute beast, but he's just a one dude. There's a reason we need more reverse engineers.
...Also, rest of team was kinda busy too. I feel bad for Arunaru, he usually finishes translation really fast and then has to wait for others to catch up.

The current Rance team is basically two translators, their dedicated editors, dude doing tech work(though I believe we have new guy on IX) and then dude doing graphics.

Among those nukige I've been asking for are ones from ClockUp. I think they only care about getting nukige that are as generic as possible to try and get the most broad range of customers, or things like Euphoria and Maggot Baits that are so extreme they stand out for that. Anything in between isn't wanted.

There's also a non-H touhou version of it called Sengoku Gensokyo. Probably only worth playing if you're a big 2hu fan and also absolutely need more sengoku rance in your life

Worse than 5D and VI, better than Evenicle. Orion's Hyper Weapon is as inconsistent as his overal art style. I obviously can't post an image, but eroge having half-assed genitals shouldn't be surprising.

Trust me, we'd like to work on variety of stuff. Right now it's sort of lack of manpower, this work doesn't pay insanely well, and being told that you have to translate 3MB of sisterfucking isn't exactly easy sell.

The game allocates a certain amount of memory for text.
English words takes up more character spaces than Japanese symbols, so the game runs out of memory before a set time to clear text history and therefore crashes.

The easy fix is to clear text history more often, which is probably what your team did.
The better fix would be to convert a more primitive text that does not take up as much memory. This method will probably solve more underlying issues that your team will encounter later.

The actual combat is this weird turn-based RPG thing that's semi-inspired by the actual 2hu games, it's quite a bit different from Sengoku Rance's, although the metagame on the map/recruiting and shit is ripped straight from SR. Still, probably only worth playing if you absolutely positively can't get enough Sengoku Rance.

Gacha plays a lot of ways so that doesn't say anything. But the game involves picking branching paths on a map, choosing card rewards with some random some guaranteed, and building a high synergy deck to tackle the gimmick of the current mission.

Rance games are equal parts porn, gameplay and story. Every game is a sequel to the previous game and evolves the gameplay in different ways. The only true way to get into the series is to play them in order.

However the earlier rance games are kinda dated, even with the remakes. Sengoku Rance is the 7th game in the franchise but works as a great starting point because the story is standalone and slowly introduces plot points from the older games. You can choose to invite previous games characters mostly at your leisure who talk about the previous games events, once your done with 7 you will feel like you know a lot about the other games and you can jump into any game you want. A good thing to keep in mind is that Rance will exaggerate some events but he speaks truthfully so listen to his insane babble.

A week or two later, I got back the response that they sent an e-mail, but SHChara wasn't interested. End of story.

A few weeks later, and I'll remind you that BB2 is a tiny game and start of work to release was like 6 weeks total, I get word that they had a call, and still weren't interested. The person who approached me then asked if I wanted to talk to XXXX to… I guess try to convince them to try harder or something? And if I was willing to sit on the project and not release it. This conversation happened January 18th, after all translation had finished, while minor interface things were being cleaned up. When the answer to both of those was no, he attempted to drag me for my lack of enthusiasm. Because it was directed towards releasing the game instead of the license.
