Their kickstarter makes it sound like they split off from the old company, obtained the rights and made a new one comprised of old and current DD devs.
But their discord is the same as the DD2 one so I have NO idea.

Prompted by your message I watched a youtube video and apparently it doesn't have preset locations. But when I played it ages ago I swear that's exactly what happened. Was it patched or is this the Mandela effect?

I don't remember ever seeing preset locations too, but i'm not sure i started playing the game right at the start of early access
