hard call because re4 is certified normie bait, but it has good gameplay. sh2 plays like dogshit and has the worse fanbase ever that nonironically thinks it's a david lynch movie.

SH2.
RE4 is one of the best games of all time while SH2 isn't even the best in its series.

RE4 killed a good series and made it a casual normie magnet.
SH2 was an emotional piece of art.

Get rid of SH2.

if part of your decision is based on the fan base of a single player game, you're a weak faggot.

SH2 if only because I can't imagine never feeling those feelings again. That being said, I think RE4 functions as a better game and its survival horror elements are 100% better. Silent Hill imo serves better horror game, better story, better atmosphere and better writing. It really depends on what you want in a game but personally, SH2 stuck with me and hit me in a way I'll never forget.

>they fell for the RE4 has good gameplay meme

If you play videogames, you're a weak faggot

>Killed a good series

RE4 was probably both the downfall and savior of the survival horror genre desu, and yea I'll agree its the thing that turned the franchise on its head, but its also the main inspiration for the newer ones which are some of the best horror games ever made imo.

it's a gajillion times better than SH2, that's for damn sure

Compared to Silent Hill 2 it does

>Picking SH2 over RE4
>Saying SH2 isn't the best SH

Imagine being this wrong

>Their influence will stay
What's the point then?
>but you'll never play them again
I don't replay videogames.

SH2 has some of the worst controls ever desu, and RE4 may be out dated but its gameplay was probably the most influential of all time.

well I mean which do you like more

sh2

Sh2's philosophy is better suited towards horror games, quibbles about tank controls aside. Enemies should be frustrating and difficult to deal with, combat should be something dreaded. navigation should be open-ended and confusing, the pc should feel vulnerable. I'd rather SH2's formula be improved and expanded upon instead of RE4's.

The enemies aren't difficult to deal with at all. You don't even have to deal with most of them, you can just walk right by and they can't catch up because they're so slow.

Vote to keep RE4

Silent Hill was always a walking sim in disguise that's been fellated with the enthusiasm of a hooker behind on her rent payments. From a gameplay perspective it's abject garbage that somehow does worse than Alone in the Dark despite nearly a decade of time to hone it. From a narrative perspective, it's got one cool trick up its sleeve and little else.

I don't even like the Resident Evil series, but at least most of the fans are aware of the flaws and accept that the games are campy bullshit. SHfags will defend 2/3 to the death as if they're being paid for it by a dead company.

I'd keep RE4. I find SH2 is the least fun to replay out of the first three SH games. It has my absolute favorite OST though. If I can still enjoy that I wouldn't be devastated.
