I'd argue it's a great experience, but not necessarily a great game.

In two play-throughs, you're just going through the motions and seeing the story. 90% of fights are literally talking your way around not fighting and dealing with gameplay.
And Genocide takes away all the good music, characterization, worldbuilding to make you grind until you face Sans or Undyne.

I'd recommend anyone to try it, since it's free and pretty great, but the actual game part of the game is a chore 95% of the time.

I'd take it a step further and say the opinions of our loudest residents rarely ever decide whether or not a game is good. Make your own judgements, everyone

It's only popular for these three things. Characters (which most of them kinda suck anyway), muh 2deep4u and the meta plot revolving around it being a game itself like the load function and self awareness of some characters.

the only part of the combat that you skip by going pacifist is the timing minigame to make an attack. the fun part is dodging bullets which you do either way. the ACT options are actually more fun than the attack minigame. did you play the game?

For a turn based RPG game it does have one of the better combat systems. Wish that it was in a different game so it would be a bit more challenging. Yes, I know this meme is outdated.

the only real fight was against sans and even that was pretty shitty
the saving grace of this game is its music
and of course there's the fact that this game has gay furry characters in it, that also makes it a little annoying
