So I'm in the market for a new gaming headset Yea Forums. Any suggestions? I'm open to wireless, but I figure wired is strictly better overall.

What's good?

I don't care. Take your audiophile garbage and leave.

>take your good sounding headphones (the reason that you're buying headphones for) and go!!!
you should go to the nearest fortnite forum and ask little billy what walmart headset he owns

Attached: blank.png (326x250, 25K)

No I just literally don't care about audiophile horseshit. I want something all in one and I don't give a rat's ass about you or your shitty opinion.

probably because you're too poor to afford even $200 headphones
get a job, loser.

No, it's because I see no need in spending almost twice as much money for a barely tangible difference.

Again. Fuck off. Clearly this isn't the thread for you, unless you're here purely to act like a retard and try to convince people to think like you do even after they tell you get fucked.

That's like owning a 720p TV and hating expensive 4k TVs because they both show the same picture in the end. You're a retard, stop being poor.

>No, it's because I see no need in spending almost twice as much money for a barely tangible difference.
You are retarded. There's a massive difference between shit tier 60-80$ headphones and actual 200$ ones. At that price range it has nothing to do with being an audiophile. Audiphile shit starts at 400$+.

Attached: 1517855087096.gif (267x200, 1.59M)

Retard. Even if you spend $50 on a normal pair of headphones and clip on mic they'll both perform better than a $50 gaming headset

The other posters aren't wrong and neither are you because it's a matter of opinion, but if that's how you feel the correct answer is "Just buy what's ever in your budget and that will be fine"

OP I've been using the steelseries arctis 5 for a little over a year now and they're pretty good

This is the best option. Headsets are a meme to rip retards off.

>There's a massive difference between shit tier 60-80$ headphones and actual 200$ ones.
Spending twice the money for a negligible difference is audiophile shit. I've tried out the fancy Bose/Sennheiser stuff my friends have bought. It's nice, but not even close to being worth the premium they paid. [Much like 4k]

>That's like owning a 720p TV and hating expensive 4k TVs
Actually, it's more like sticking with 1080p because 4k is a meme [Which it is btw. 4k is basically meaningless. I'll buy a 4k TV the moment my 1080p monitor breaks and not a second before. There's no point in actively seeking such a trivial upgrade. Shame about HDR though, that shit's legit]

I -literally- don't give a fuck you absolute fuckwit.

There's a wide variety of headsets in the $100 - $150 range and implying that there's no discernible difference among the products offered at that price range is absurd.

I'm just looking for simple advice based on actual experience.

Those reviewed quite well. They're on my shortlist.

Well what would you recommend if I only plan to use my headset for speaking with friends over discord. And it needs to be mobile cause I don't really sit at my pc while talking

>I -literally- don't give a fuck you absolute fuckwit.
Why the fuck did you make this thread then you utter cretin? Don't ask for advice if you're not going to fucking take it. Dumb faggot.

I didn't ask for alternatives to gaming headsets. You aren't giving the advice that was requested you fucking moron.

Hyper Xcloud are the best choice for GAYMEN headsets since it's basically a clone of a proper headphone with an added mic

Lapel mic, also stop using d*scord

Jesusfuckingchrist
The guy is asking about a fucking headset not your fucking best opinion to build a headset. You gave your opinion, it was not welcome, fuck off. Go make your own thread on how to build a headset so you can post your meme pic, show it to mommy and get a cookie.

>hey guys I'm looking to buy some feces to moisturise my skin, my budget is $25
>no dude for $25 you can get some moisturising cream that actually works well
>FUCK OFF THAT'S NOT WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR!!
Fine, waste your money on some overpriced plastic gaymur trash, it's no skin off my back, faggot.

>Fine, waste your money on some overpriced plastic gaymur trash, it's no skin off my back, faggot.
Good, now fuck right off. Go stick a cactus up your ass or something.

yup, you're poor. chances are you listen to lofi beats on youtube as well
it's the job of the informed to inform the uninformed, it's not my fault that in this case the uninformed is a stone-headed retard.

No, I just know better than to waste my money on negligible upgrades. Twice the cost for only 20% improved performance? Waste of money.

>Twice the cost for only 20% improved performance?
How far up your asshole did you pull those numbers out of?

>How far up your asshole did you pull those numbers out of?
My personal experience demoing high quality audio accessories my friends own. It's nice, but HARDLY x2 or x3 better. It's more like a 20% improvement.

>It's nice, but HARDLY x2 or x3 better. It's more like a 20% improvement
Might I ask what music you used for comparison and where you sourced said music from?

he has a point: "gaming headsets" is just a marketing thing. don't listen to it and just buy good cans in general.

but you have a point as well. as in the audiophile world can be extremely full of shit. the returns diminish the higher you go with the price.
my NUMBER ONE advice is to go to a store and actually listen to the cans before buying. only trust your ears and your taste alone because everyone hears/likes things differently.

We used Battlefield Bad Company 2 actually.

>headphones don't have objective specifications that can give you an indication on how well they are going to perform

>my NUMBER ONE advice is to go to a store and actually listen to the cans before buying
Really bad advice since they use completely shit amps for most of the time making the phone sound shittier than they actually are. had this with my Beyerdynamics headphones where in the store they sounded like ass until I hooked them up at home.

What audio settings in game? Using the on-board soundcard?

I've ran the numbers. This steak will be 30% more tasteful than the other steak.

Wartapes mode. That's all I can tell you overall.

Wartapes distorts the fuck out of the audio, you can't make a shitty source sound not-shit by using better headphones.

>google wartapes mode
>distorts the audio by making everything louder
oh yeah this is a great way to test audio, i think you should buy some beats headphones man!!!!

they do, but sometimes ear and head shapes matter. and there is also the matter of personal preference in sound, or the expectations that come with the price you paid. the audiophile world is chock full of placebo traps.

so you're telling him to buy a 100-200 dollar amp on top? see, the price is going up already. and again, diminishing returns.
>Beyerdynamics
did they lose their sibilance? because i still can't say that i'm super satisfied with mine.

IF the headphones were DOUBLE the quality to match the DOUBLE price, it would be easy to notice even in a mode that distorts.

diminishing returns doesn't happen until the $2,000+ range.

do you think lots of bass is what makes headphones good?

>so you're telling him to buy a 100-200 dollar amp on top? see, the price is going up already. and again, diminishing returns.
Buy it from amazon and send them back if you don't like it. I did it with 3 headphones.

>did they lose their sibilance? because i still can't say that i'm super satisfied with mine.
Not that I'm aware of, I guess I'm used to it so much I'm not hearing it anymore but was really apparent when I put them on for the first time.

>it would be easy to notice even in a mode that distorts
No it fucking wouldn't you tard. You can't polish a turd. A 4K TV with processing turned off won't make a DVD look any better than a 1080p TV

Attached: GUEST_26cc6113-d9c0-4397-8d35-b5558019c3f0.jpg (488x488, 36K)

Don't buy into the bluetooth meme. I jist wasted 300 dollarydoos trying to get it to work.

>No it fucking wouldn't you tard
Yes it would. Double performance and detail quality should be readily apparent. It can't hide away behind low quality inputs. Wartapes mode on $400 Sennheisers should sound at least twice as good as Wartapes mode on shitty $100 Razers. It didn't/doesn't. It's not a worthwhile way to spend the extra cash. Cash that could be spent on buying more games for my collection.

Look OP, you have two options here, and you can ignore it all you want but in the end you're going to realise that one of these options was objectively the better option.

1. Ignore the advice of people here who have actually been through this process before, go off and spend your $60-$100 on whatever "gaming" brand headset someone recommends. You might even like it for a while, but a year later they will break and you'll be back on Yea Forums making the exact same thread ready to put down another $100 on a plastic headset that won't last long and won't be very good quality.

2. Shell out some cash now ~$200 (or more if you actually have a job) and enjoy a well-made pair of headphones that will last you the better part of 5 years at least and give you objectively better sound quality.

You may think you're saving money going for the cheapo gaming headset option but you're really not.

Jokes on you user, I've had my current headset since 2016.

you have no idea what you're talking about

>Yes it would
No, it wouldn't. If you play a well-made FLAC file on both headphones, the $400 Sennheisers will sound much better. If you play a shitty audio source through both you're going to get a shitty audio source out the other end regardless of POTENTIAL to sound better. You can't polish a turd. Simple as.
>buying more games
fuck sake

How much did you spend on it and how well is it holding up?

this is like trying to convince an anti-vaxxer that vaccines don't cause autism

I know right? I wonder if people ever stop to fucking think why we have things like "the official Yea Forums guide to headsets" etc. It's because we have this same fucking thread every week, some idiot who doesn't know what he's talking about comes in thinking gaming headsets are amazing and won't fucking listen to the dozens of people trying to explain to him how they're objectively a worse purchasing option.

>Doubled price doesn't mean doubled quality user!
Then why should I pay out the ass like that? It's not worth it.

>. If you play a well-made FLAC file
I'm sorry where did I say that I want this headset so I can listen to high quality sound files? I don't want it for that. I want it for games. Games that don't adhere to autistic FLAC audio encoding standards and everything else. It's almost like you're arguing reasons why a fancy audiophile accessory would be a bad idea for me.
>fuck sake
Did you lose your way on Yea Forums today? This is Yea Forums. Gaming is my main hobby and I'm growing an ever expanding collection of games.

It would be holding up 100% if I hadn't sat on it. Beyond that, it's going fine. Just had to slap some tape onto it to fix the damage my drunken ass did to it when I sat on it. I'm tired of the poor fit/duct tape on it though and would like to replace it.

You never said you were a retard who puts the sound settings in his games to the absolute worst quality and listens off an on-board soundcard. You can get good audio quality from games if you're not hopelessly retarded, but seeing as you made this thread in the first place it was foolish of me to expect anything better from you.
>Gaming is my main hobby and I'm growing an ever expanding collection of games
Maybe if you stopped wasting your money on buying games like a retard when there are ways to get games for free you'd have more money to invest in actually decent peripherals.

I'd say it starts at $500 and more and you definitely feel it at around $1500.

$1500 has the HD800S

>You never said you were a retard who puts the sound settings in his games to the absolute worst quality and listens off an on-board soundcard.
This headset is mainly intended for use with my PS4. You fuckin' moron.I bet you didn't even consider that for a half fucking second. Not to mention you conviently ignored the extreme high cost of getting high qulaity sound accessories/hardware for a PC. You're the type who'd tell me to drop $200+ on a fucking soundcard
>Maybe if you stopped wasting your money on buying games
Only on Yea Forums would somebody argue against playing/buying games or act like collecting games is undesirable or foolish.

you should have said PS4 in the first place so we could have all ignored you and let your thread die

>my PS4
OH NO NO NO NO
>$200
>extremely high cost
You must be 18 or older to post here
>Only on Yea Forums would somebody argue against playing/buying games or act like collecting games is undesirable or foolish
Paying for something you can get for free with no repercussions is foolish.

Attached: 1419217869993.jpg (700x393, 130K)

I have an Astro A10 headset that I got for $60. I haven't had any issues with it so far and I'm quite happy with it.

Not everyone is single and lives with their parents user.

>$200
Is a lot of money. Easily "extreme" when you consider the trivial importance of super high fidelity audio.
>Paying for something you can get for free with no repercussions is foolish.
Emulating is 100% inferior to original hardware. Don't waste time spewing about mods [cheats] or graphics [ruining the original artistic intention] either. Emulating is only acceptable if you have no reasonable means of playing the original on original hardware. Don't even get me started on emulation accuracy. None of the major emulators are 100% accurate in all games.

cringe
based. You can't go wrong with Logitech usually OP. Just stay away from meme brands like Razer

kek i bet you own and collect nintendo 64 games to put next to your funko pop dolls
what a queer

Attached: hp.jpg (477x320, 51K)

>i bet
Any time you feel tempted to type out something like that: Don't. It only makes you look like a retard. I can't even tell you how many retarded /pol/fucks have called me a tranny, because I disagreed with their absurd political ramblings.

You aren't Sherlock Holmes. You can't judge somebody accurately based on zero tangible real experience.

Clearly OP is if he considers $200 "extremely high"

anyone who claims "emulating is 100% inferior to the original hardware" is a collector

$200 for a cheeseburger is "extremely high". $200 for slightly improved audio fidelity is "extremely high".

I already openly admitted to being a collector. The rest of his moronic ramblings are retarded shots in the dark.

Razer headset are good, keyboards too
In the other hand they done shitty mice

>not a single recommendation for audio headphones

Of course what am i expecting from Yea Forums
I just bought the Corsair HS50 and im happy with them, get em, theyre good and cheap

Good headsets can be found for ~70€/$

>$200 for slightly improved audio fidelity is "extremely high".
It'd be a more significant improvement than "slightly" if you weren't a retard who set his audio settings in game to the absolute lowest quality possible

when they break in a couple months here are some headphones to look at
HD600
HD650
HD58x
HD6XX
HD800S
AKG K702
AKG K7XX/K712
Beyerdynamic DT880
Beyerdynamic DT990
Beyerdynamic DT1990
Hifiman HE4XX/400i
Focal Elex

Fuck my shit up senpai

if you really wanted a recommendation you should have gone to one of the boards that might actually be able to help you with headphones, like Yea Forums or /g/, instead of on the video games board

the OP rejected any help he might have gotten, so don't blame us.

Dont get wireless, dealing with batteries/charging quickly outweighs any small benefit they have

Just got Arctis 7 and I like them a lot. My only complaint is that there's a faint static if you put the physical volume to the max, but it's completely gone at under like 75%.

Also go wireless. It's amazing.

>headphones that cost more than the triple are better
No shit retard

Attached: 1550560128261.jpg (4032x3024, 1.11M)

thats true he is retarded

>*spends $300 on 6 headsets in 3 years*
haha only retards buy expensive headphones!

poorfag mindset

It really isn't. Paying the same amount of money for something that delivers better performance, is modular and therefore more easily replaceable and lasts longer is exactly the opposite of poorfag mindset. There's a reason poor people tend to stay poor, they fall for cheap marketing gimmicks like all-in-one gaming headsets

Since 2013 I have spent exactly $200 on headphones. I still own both the headsets I bought during this time and both still work well. Only retards with money to burn or genuine sound industry professionals buy those absurd $400 setups.

>$400
>absurd

Attached: 1543881394114.jpg (180x178, 9K)

why, my peenus weanus of course :)

hahah! :D

it's my weeeeenus peanus! :) hahah

ITT: What's good? - my answer is, of course, my peanus weenus :D

hahaha!

my current headset is the sennheiser pc37x

Attached: XRtczGRSY6iogWlwjgBy_MD-36678_20170313143205_102f7812ad0a0b91_20170530143221_20180719135912.png?bg=f (1080x1080, 431K)

>Spending $400 on something you can get for $150-ish
Yeah. It's absurd. For $400 I could buy a whole new console AND a small starter collection of games to go with it. For $400 I could overhaul my PC and buy multiple upgrades. For $400 I could take my wife on a weekend vacation to a local retreat spot.

$400 is barely even half my monthly car payment

I'm so sorry

That's not even remotely relevant. It's like the idea of relative cost is a mystery to you. $100 isn't even half my monthly drugs budget but it'd still be an absurd price to pay for a pack of chewing gum.

I enjoy listening to music, why would I not spend money so I can enjoy it even more?

That has nothing to do with this. I'm just taking you off your moronic high horse and reminding you that even $1 can be an "absurd" price for something.

BASED brainlet poster

The headsets are a meme meme became a meme in itself. Yeah, there was once a point in time when they were overpriced garbage like mentions but that image is fucking ancient, for the most part they're much cheaper now and significantly higher quality.

Thing is, none of these faggots have realised it's all come full circle with companies like modmic and blue yeti charging out the fucking nose to take advantage of this. Blue are particularly guilty since their stuff is garbage. Modmic is good, but you'd get a serviceable headset for one of their clipon mics.

nah, they still are. mid-fi audio can be gotten for as low as $150 now and they still shit on headsets.

>$150 hardware sounds better than $100 hardware
hmm I wonder why

Get a good pair of Sennheisers and a clip on mic if you're on PC, gaming headsets are cheap bottom of the barrel shit.

I don't care about the mic, you can pic up a mic that's comparable to anything you'd get on a headset for 5 bucks and you can get entry level audiophile quality headphones for around 100 bucks, you'd be paying over 200 if you were getting something with quality comparable to something like the HD 599s.

not him but my hs30 lasted me 4 years

>until i sat on them

No user, you're lying, you had to have changed your headphones 10 times a year, because that's what Yea Forums said would happen.

how is your wife's son doing?

If you were just going to buy a shitty headset anyway, why would you ask Yea Forums of all places? You wouldn’t ask /g/ about macs or post Naruto on Yea Forums unless you just wanted to shitpost.

>gaming headset

Attached: 1533389656109.png (1000x1000, 136K)

Any advice on a good mic? I'm using a shitty clip on mic and cause it picks up way too much background noise.
