That's not really a good enough reason for it to be the same now.
In 5, the fight between Vergil and Nero is less about Vergil and much more about Nero proving himself and expressing who he is to the father he never had, so the theme is there to empower Nero and make it seem like his big moment proving that he can protect the human world without Dante and Vergil.

Depends on how you play the game. The levels in 5 are longer than the previous games, if you rush through the missions then probably 13-15 hours, but much more if you explore every inch of the level, find secret missions, orb caches and all the callbacks. Some missions also play out differently depending on which character you pick, there's not many of these missions, but still worth to mention it. So I guess like 17-19 hours if you explore and do all that.

Buy max royal guard style beforehand. Kill one right away so you can focus on just the one guy. Only block the finger attack. Don't look, listen. You want to hit it just a hair after the wind-up noise stops. Then when you've got it somewhat consistently, get at least two in a row and then activate dreadnaught form. You don't take damage in dreadnaught so getting hit or doing it imperfectly doesn't reset the counter. So as long as you can get a few while dreadnaught is activated (you should have a lot saved up from practice) you'll beat the mission.

Use vital stars and gold orbs if you have to, after all it's not like you'll be using them for anything else, right? RIGHT?

i feel like they're doing all this on purpose, a subtle jab at what the two do, and how they look for their age. DMC is meant to be chuuni as fuck, that is its core concept. it looked cool when they were 19/20, if not too hammy and corny, but that's kinda the point.

but this being D&V's final chapter, at a time when these men are nearing their 50's, they can do all the sick tricks, and have the power to bring down a horde of demons, but it doesn't hide the fact that their lives are still a mess, and it's gotten a little awkward to see 45 year olds acting the way they do.

kinda like how real chuunis have to face up with the fact that what they do is just plain cringey, before giving up on it. but f course with Sparda's Twins, they're not gonna, and it makes them look all the more immature.

timing attack with an enemy attack will parry. Timing is tough though. Gerbera moves also parry and are easier to pull off. Pressing L1 breaks your current arm but makes you invincible/blocks the attacks in that moment. Dante has an entire moveset dedicated to blocking/parrying called royal guard.

It's the jump button. Normal jump is a dodge. Locking on and moving to the side while pressing jump will do a dodge roll. Doing it with perfect timing will have Nero do a cool side hop instead.

mid-air taunt is a dodge, gerbera moves can be done mid air and are a dodge, air hike (your double jump) is a dodge, enemy step (also is a jump cancel) is a dodge, and the air surfing moves on the punchline have I-frames, so can technically be used to dodge as well.
