Why can't I enjoy multiplayer games anymore?

They're all broken down to appeal to the lowest common denominator rather than having their own identity. This makes them all feel incredibly bland and generally exist only as grinding simulators to unlock the next skin, character, or card pack.

Every game released in probably the past 3-5 years has been bland and uninspired. There's a few gems that have released that I enjoyed but apart from those very select few, it's all shite.

>There's a few gems that have released that I enjoyed
Go on.

Don't, get Master Chief Collection or play older multi-player games.

>Dark Souls 3
>BOTW
>GTAV
>Witcher 3
Off the top of my head.

I thought you meant multiplayer games.

1) because what you really need are real life friends
2) because developers removed the ability to host your own servers

The 360 generation made me sick of it. I can't bring myself to play first-person game anymore, either or pay to play online. Sucks, 'cause every single motherfucking horror game these days seems to be first-person, bar a few.

>lowest common denominator grind
>gta v
>good
You’re joking right?
Or do you genuinely like all this crap like explosive snipers and 20 million dollar cars with explosive bullets?

GTA is only good in short bursts, I mainly only play it with friends

You have a chance of obtaining good taste OP,cheer up

Play Smash with items on

But he was talking about multiplayer games user not singleplayer so why are you listing Witcher 3 and BOTW.
Also
Titanfall 2 is a rock solid shooter with emphasis on speed, maneuverability and mechs.
The class gimmicks are well implemented and the titans don't feel like killstreaks but more like an escalation of a match.
All the maps and modes are free and only some cosmetics can be bought ( the prices are very high though) all in all a very good game ( if only the multiplayer scene wasn't so barren).
Monster Hunter either World or GU are both very good coop games that have an emphasis on grinding but the grind is the fun the rest is preparation for the next grind ( in other words it's a challenging and enjoyable grind experience that you will not get in many games) but it has a steep learning curve so don't be suprised if you get stuck everyone does so don't get demotivated if you can't progress just try it in a different way.
Dragonball Fighters Z is a very well executed fighting game and deserves the praise that it is getting with a good system that eases people into the system without having a brutal learning curve.
EDF 5 and 4.1 is another game which I would suggest you should if you like trashy B-movies and starship troopers and the coop mode is very comfy even with strangers ( that is until you meet inferno farmers that are very serious about the game those guys should be avoided unless you are prepared and can help out).
Those would be some examples of titles that have been "recently" released and have been positivly received in my opinion.

I dunno, you’re getting old?

Personally like Tekken 7, Quake Champions, and Endless Legend for MP games. Everything else that looked interesting felt hand holdy

My girlfriend, who lives with me, and I mostly play multiplayer games with each other every day.

Just find a QT girl to play games with and multiplayer games become fun.

Because as much as you hate to admit it, you enjoy winning. So you play to win. But then you lose because you're bad at video games. And you realise that to get good you'd have to play hours and hours of said game every day, and you don't have that time nor do you have the willpower to put in that much effort and STILL not be the best among everyone else.

Party Chats, Discord, and the removal of AllSpeak killed multiplayer. Some of the most fun came from talking mad shit/bantz and then engaging with your team.

Now thanks to a more social platform, actaully talking with other players have left the station

>playing multiplayer gta v at all
You shouldn't be saying almost all games released the last half decade are shit if you're gonna out yourself as this much of a jackass

Because devs broke the balance/mechanics.
Or you realize they're a waste of time and your victories are short lived - in the end a new FPS will come around, everyone will leave and it will have all been for nothing.
Or you realize it's the exact same thing, capture the flag, most kills win, ect.
Or it doesn't bring you full fulfillment like ending a really long quest in an RPG.

Multiplayer games make me feel brain dead sometimes. Either that or I just get tilted. Multiplayer games made playing single player games feel like a chore.

>Dragonball Fighters Z is a very well executed fighting game
This level of bait is omnidimensional brained. Nice one m8 ;DDD

Not him but explain why this isn't the case then

They legit are not quality anymore OP. Interaction with others is restricted and extremely limited so you never meet any friends and the whole experience feels like everyone in your game is simply a bot.

It’s not you, it’s the industry. Only zoomers get excited for/play multiplayer trash because they fall for marketing with both feet.

play 1v1 games

Because Life is telling you to solve your issues instead of searching for escapism

This. Not to mention the lowest common denominator is a full-throttle normie who hates social interactions outside of his circle of already established friends, further making MMO devs restrain the social aspect of games more and more.

MMOs are meant to be niche games, which is a high risk to take seeing how much they cost to maintain, and nobody is willing to take that risk anymore.

The better question is why can't I enjoy anything anymore?

Jokes on you. I don't even enjoy single player games.

because you don't enjoy being with other people anymore. just play SP games.

Probably the same reason as me:

>no friends to play with

Gone are the days of completing all the Vidmasters with my friends and fucking around with all the guys from 8th grade in forge mode foundry/sandbox.

they're all ultra-competitive and full of insufferable people who can invest much more time into them and then harass you for not being of the same mind.

I think the problem is the prevalence of automatic matchmaking
instead of joining a server or gathering up some comrades, you're expected to be thrown in with a bunch of NPCs controlled by people you aren't encouraged to give a shit about

especially so with PvP games, because half the time they're better than you. At least when you fight bots, they're usually easy or exploitable, but when a nameless NPC controlled by a faceless guy somewhere in the world owns you, you don't even get the satisfaction of the banter that follows when you deliberately join a server or play with a community

you have realised that even the most satisfactory game-play situation from a MP game cant release you from your own self inflicted torment

bump for more truth

They all feel kindof the same and Ive been playing for years. I much prefer coop games and wish there was more effort put into that instead of PvP.
>No Planetside 2 scale coop game where you fight against hordes of giant bugs with a server of people
Deep Rock Galactic has been fun but I can already feel myself getting farther away from it simply because there isnt much content in it.

DBZ fighters is not perfect enjoyable yes but not that good the menus are weird, the balance is also not the best resulting in many multiplayer fights consisting of the same teams, the matchmaking is also not so good etc. but I can't talk about blaze blue x tag battle because I haven't heard anything about it maybe it's better maybe not I do not know.
Like I just said these are games where my opinion was that people where mostly positive about them not that they are perfect.

I lost interest in multiplayer right before moving away and losing high speed internet for 5 years. Now i'm back and really enjoying it. I lost interest in co-op games though. People play styles ruin my enjoyment.

great observational statement user, bravo

The demographic remains the same 18-25.
As you age, playing with this demograpic grows weary and annoying. Your only option is to play mute (which the defeats the purpose) or play single player, which is losing its enjoyment for other reasons entirely.

Because instead of making games that are fun to play, big developers have slowly brainwashed us to play for dopamine rewards.
"Oh, you played five games? Good boy, have a loot box!"
"Oh what's that? you want more loot boxes? Well sorry, you get less and less until you hit a certain level my friend :^)"
"Well, you *could* play our game for 100 hours to unlock that skin or character, or you could make one easy transaction of $9.99 to get yourself 10 000 GAMERCOINS! Isn't that a BIG NUMBER? WOW, what a DEAL!"
All the while the fanboys are defending the raping of our psyche and rights as customers by saying "b-but it's a free game!" "b-but it's just cosmetics!" "b-but everything can be unlocked by playing!"
Triple A games have become a cynical human experiment, and when an actual videogame is released that doesn't try to exploit you by invoking dopamine rushes ad nauseum, everyone is in awe of how such a game can exist and are reminded of "the good old days"

What's wrong with endgame vehicles being locked to the endgame? You don't need to grind if you are not a spoiled brat that wants every new shiny car the moment it is released, do you also cry that you need to finish the games to see the ending?

LOL

Even ARK has better multiplayer.

>Your only option is to play mute (which the defeats the purpose)
fucking what?
So you don't play multiplayers games to, you know, play with and against other human beings but instead to listen to voice chat?

>I am shit at the game and I refuse to learn how to play it therefore it is bad
LOL

Because they don't improve. Multiplayer games are as shit as they've been 20+ years ago. Nothing gets better
>netcode is still shit
>cheating is still an issue
>servers are still garbage
>games are still unbalanced
>matchmaking is shit
>lag-switching is still prevalent
>you can still get kicked/banned because you play the game "wrong"/bad
>you still have to use text/mics in most games to communicate and deal with autistic children/screaming Russians/Brazilians/Chinese because devs can't be arsed to provide a robust voice chat systems even though games like UT/Wolf had it 20 years ago

Who has the patience to deal with this shit?

>defending gta v locking it's fun content behind literally hundreds of real dollars worth of funbux

Defending? What hundreds of dollars? I just keep playing the game and it keeps giving me money, I no longer have things to buy and I just reached 8 digits on my "bank account", actually, I started buying shit for that reason, at first all I did was play those wacky races with 2xPayment, winning got me at least 30K each time, it wasn't until people started bitching about the prices that I noticed there was a full game in free mode, I had already made close to 2 millions in a few weeks, bought some businesses and the money kept piling up. Again, you don't need all the vehicles released unless you want to pvp.

>"mechanical" character advancement – grindy and mostly A to B with very minimalistic "sandbox" features, e.g., economy

>often instanced, especially the most lucrative money-making options
>instanced-PvP's maps are seemingly random placements of buildings, pathways, etc.

>terrestrial vehicles are RC-cars skillfulness; and handbraking puts the camera in some weird following mode (this was a setting in IV)
>helicopter controls:camera moves the aiming reticule, which is especially heinous vs. (centered-reticule) jets

>basic gunplay – RNG, and laser-esque shots; very homogeneous and repetitive (PvE and PvP)
>wobbly character movement; gross physics, especially when colliding with vehicles, having the character being non-responsive for multiple seconds – similar happens with hills, and a large percentage of SA is mountainous / hilly; reduced covering and parkouring systems, rendering most of the city aspects hampering
>spatially simplistic
>city PvP is (also) mediocre – OHKO'ing CQC; minimap blips; respawns a few blocks over; repetitive sniper'ing; ludicrous balancing of vehicles; Peer-2-Peer; very little incentive for actually playing, such as (from other games) risks:rewards of gathering, crafting, and trading (e.g., full looting), making it largely a collectathon, which science evidenced as far-surpassed by intrinsic motivations such as mastery, freedom of choices, and socialization, which are of much greater depth:variety in, e.g., ARK

~ From (at a least) May, 2016:
>really neat if players actually had grinding for making sure stores had inventory, even for purchasing vehicles, as if there are blockades keeping out goods
>so that players are required "mining" it (e.g., various levels and interactivities of drills next to mountains), transporting goods … providing drugs and weapons to prominent gangs (or relegating that, potentially to adverse reactions) … providing supplies to manufactureres, etc.
>mechs as vehicles
>robot fighting
>farms

>things I don't like therefore bad

lol, sorry not sorry you took the time to write all of this shit

Its a shitty situation all around.
Either enjoy losing or spend enough time getting gud you end up hating the game.

Mad cuz bad, OP?
