Because Game Freak’s filled with lazy hacks who can’t make a good game anymore.

>The new pokemon dont look like pokemon!
>These pokemon look like clones!

After how mans gens you just can't invent the wheel again

>this pokemon has common traits of pokemon
really makes you think

>what are paws
>what is a common tooth design
ok peabrain

>who can’t make a good game anymore.
That "anymore" is out of place. Nidoking and Rhydon have the same exact design(and same art in FRLG too), so they've never made a good game.

Just admit that design went to shit after gen 2, 3 was an abomination and 4 was decent

Blame their complacency on the drones who buy their products regardless of quality.

Four had the worst starters and gen 7 starters where great. The only pokemon game i really liked and played fully was gold heart because pokemon has a repetetive formula by design so if you played one you played them all.

UNPOPULAR OPINION

Bandage bunny looks better than chimchar

Gen 2 has the worst designs, so no.

Your taste is absolute shit. Gen 3 was quite good and the designs deviated from the first two with a freshness that worked. Gen 4 is where things began going downhill and designs became both over the top and bland.

>Four had the worst starters
Bait

Did you start playing during gen 4? by far the weakest designs in the franchise and it took ages to get back on track. Thats the same gen that introduced visually noisy ugly pokes like Garchomp

Not really.
I only like piplup unevolved and turtwig fully evolved. Other than that they dont do anything for me.

This. And let's not pretend the gameplay of gen 4 isn't a bit rocky either. The battles take like 2 minutes per Pokemon each and you're required to carry around TM/HM slaves everywhere. I'd honestly say even the remakes that came out during gen 4 (HGSS) are better than D/P, but Platinum improved at least the speed, but the general layout of Sinnoh is mostly the same, so it can't all be fixed.

>Thats the same gen that introduced visually noisy ugly pokes like Garchomp
But Magmar is gen 1 though???

Garchomp is infinitely better than most of Gen 5. Literal garbage and ice cream.

Even ugly shitties like Electabuzz or Magmar were clearly meant to represent a higher tier of Pokemon, based on stats and typing. Where you had Articuno, Moltres and Zapdos you also had Electabuzz, Magmar and Jynx, who could pad out a team pretty reliably (since you only had 1 shot at the legendary birds anyway.)

They ran out of ideas when they made pokemon of an ice cream cone and a fucking set of keys

>Literal garbage and ice cream
EVERY Generation has objectmons, try critiquing some of the actual animal Pokemon designs for once eh?

Oh, i see you like torterra
Good taste, my friend

Being higher tier of Pokemon doesn't mean you have to be visually noisy ugly Pokemon, especially since they're busier than the fucking legendaries you named too. But Magmar most of all.

Pokemon peaked in gen 2 thats just a fact

I know you're going to bring up Voltorb or whatever, failing to realize the absolute very first voltorb you fight in the games surprises you after you click on an item. Items that in-game are represented by a voltorb-looking sphere. Even in the party menu voltorb and electrode are unique in that they have the generic item sprite to represent them.

Attached: electrode.png (305x398, 135K)

>pokemon vaguely based on japanese oni
>not expecting some ugly visually-busy creature

Gen 1 thru 5 are god tier, everything else is trash.
>REMINDER that people who complain about Ditto or Vanilluxe have an IQ less then 10 and never played Pokemon

Attached: Evolved_Terraformar_facing_Thien_and_Ming-Ming.jpg (560x584, 138K)

Vanilliuxe is fucking shit though. Hell, most of the gen 5 pokedex is truly bottom of the barrel
BW1/2 are still god tier games, and the only good pokemon to come out after them was super mystery dungeon.

>there are people actually defending these new starters designs

Attached: 209648DD-C4E8-4BA1-A8D3-27491444BB6A.gif (150x160, 21K)

Why would you complain about Ditto?

>can (visually) be any pokemon you feel like that day
>can turn into your enemy's pokemon, more or less as powerful
>can also become any human you want apparently, which has obvious uses

Don't go to /vp/, people are actually defending the fucking games as well

Peaked regarding shitty designs? Yeah, indeed.

>failing to realize the absolute very first voltorb you fight in the games surprises you after you click on an item
Too bad the first Voltorb you fight isn't a wild one, eh? You fight one at the third gym. Not only that but you can find wild Voltorbs in the grass just outside the Power Plant.
And Voltorb's designs fails compared to every other Pokemon of thar gen because those were designed as creatures with their own life. Voltorb was designed as a gameplay trap but fails as a creature because itemballs were big just thanks to hardware limitations. NO human or creature would mistake a Voltorb for a Pokeball considering they're as a big as a fucking pillow, if it really existed. That's why it's less badly done in other gens where itemballs are smaller.
Lastly why would he bring up Voltorb when half a dozen other itemmons exist in gen 1?

Yeah people who use Magmar and Electabuzz as an argument for ugly pokemons in gen 1 always take them out of context. Arguably mr mime is the only really dumb gen 1 design, but he still fits the mold for pokemon with no evolved form at the time.

Gen 5 is honestly pretty alright considering how tired and played out the franchise was at this point. they could have done alot worst.

At least they aren't defending Chikorita, that's the worst one regardless.

Gen 5 had fucking great pokemon the fuck are you on?
Ferrathorn
Scolipede
Serperior
Mandibuzz
Coffin Motherfucker
Swords of Justice
Kyurem
Gigalith
Joltik
Simisage
Excadrill

>it's out of context because......uuuuuuuuuh....either way they don't count because i say so

There are some fakemon that I wish were included in future games simply because of how good they are either in design or concept.

Attached: 67c91301bfce6d9f435a9068d73152ef.jpg (1000x1000, 69K)

>has an obvious theme and memorable place in the game
>Voltorb fails

Attached: hoe.jpg (200x200, 21K)

>i can't fucking read a whole post, i have to cut words otherwise i can't make a post
Okay.

Objectmons can vary in quality you silly goose. Magnets and pokeballs makes a lot more sense than actual ice cream and just trash.

>please greentext my whole shitty nonsense reply

No faggot, Voltorb and Electrode work just fine in the first game. The only person dumb enough to treat them like a random objectmon is you.

50% of the dex is god tier while the other 50% is truly abysmal

Having Lilligant in your game doesn't make up for having both Sawk and Throh too

>they could have done alot worst
That does not make it any less shittier. Anything can always be made worse.

>ice cream poke is a creature evolved to look like an icicle and blend in with its surroundings
>garbage poke is a creature evolved to look like a trash bag and blend in with its surroundings
Nothing wrong with those designs.

Attached: hermit crab in a dolls head.jpg (480x640, 71K)

The ice cream mons are trash, while the trash mons are ***T*R*A*S*H***

I never thought I'd see someone defending Vanilluxe. The irony of you talking about IQ is almost unbearable.

How can one autistic community not stay on their containment board

>same pose
Are you blind ?

>Voltorb and Electrode work just fine in the first game
But they don't. Weedle and Caterpie are little bugs you find in a forest, that is normal, you might step on them and they attack you back. A floating electric magnet monster in a power plant works. Those were made as wild monsters in a monster game.

Voltorb and Electrode are too big and no one would fever fall for them, thus they fail as a believable creature. Foongus was made really small a few gens after itemballs were reduced in size, so lore and gameplay pair up perfectly here. Making a creature that only works in gameplay is fucking dumb, even Luvdisc works perfectly. Oh and just to remind you, you haven't brought up a single argument that proves me wrong, you've just gone "no u fuck off retard i'm right waah waah".

>waiting for another random insult with 0 arguments whatsoever

While I like this idea of manipulating its evolution simply by item holding (and we've seen it before), I absolutely hate anything that can't be done, such as trade-evolutions.

>anymore.
GameFreak have ALWAYS been behind the curve, do i really need to point out what a horribly programed mess Gen1 actually was? it worked and was part of the appeal, but they have always been kinda fumbling their way through the industry with subpar skills.

Anyway saying that all of the Gen V dex is shit is nonsense. Maybe it's hit or miss, but has some of the all time greatest mons.

much better than the clusterfuck of Gen 3 and 4

Attached: 5059811.png (224x94, 6K)

Well, it could simply be changed to just level up while holding that item or use that item on that Pokemon.

Also, including more good fakemon.

Attached: 1478370683082.png (1305x729, 286K)

Gen 2 and 5 were one of the most technically well done games of their systems.

Oh yeah, for certain. That's what I had in mind, I just wished Gamefreak would do away with trade gimmicks, even if I've found a few of them to be really cool (like Accelgor and Excavalier).

>unironically using the word >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>mons
anyone that goes to /vp/ needs to be gutted and gassed

Attached: animepuke.png (432x415, 177K)

Gen 2 almost never even happened due to GameFreaks incompetence.

They were going to cancel the entire thing before Iwata swooped in and literally saved their asses along with the franchise.

Unpopular opinion: if X and Y had a better post-game, then it would have been the best games bar none simple because of improved breeding mechanics, easier to attain IVs, and some of the best balance minus a few outliers like some Megas and Landorus.

Gens 2 and 5 are still my favorites, but I've gained a loving appreciation for the mechanics in Gen 6 and its attempt to nerf the dragon menace.

And then had enough space left to include Kanto, cementing Gen 2 as one of the best games because of it. Honestly pretty fucking hilarious.

>easier to attain IVs
Reminds me of how great Super Training was, both accessible and easy to understand, and then they just got rid of it like they do with every good mechanic and introduced the clunky as fuck Hyper Training.

Yes its pretty hilarious.

He literally quite single handidly saved the entire studio.
RIP
He was a fucking genius and that incident was only proof that GF should have been dissolved into Nintendo entirely a long time ago.

pic not related, right?

>rabbits have buck teeth

shit pokemon game will not buy

>genwunner who doesn't even buy the product anymore wants the product to appeal to him regardless

go take your dementia medication grandpa

IVs remind you of how great something that has absolutely fuck all to do with IVs was, and that required hundreds of plays to fill stats or required to be lucky with RNG to actually find bags while Hyper Training actually involved IVs and their increase?

4 is absolute worst in design you dingus

>same tooth
No, same mouth. And hands/arms.

Why should they when wifi has made it even easier to do trading with people easily?

>anything that can't be done, such as trade-evolutions
??????????????????????????

Gen V only seems like it had lots of ugly mons because it had more new mons than ANY OTHER GENERATION (even gen I). So naturally there's a lot more to disagree over. In reality it has a lot of the best.

Attached: 1371121440458.png (591x493, 93K)

There's over 800 of these little fuckers, what do you want from them

Meant to say 'done solo'.

Because I'm buying a single player game to play single player? I get that part of the theme has always been about playing with other people and trading is part of that, but I'd much rather prefer being able to just evolve it normally or through some gimmick in the game like certain locations or items.

isnt fairy way worse than dragon was?

When are you autists gonna shut up about pokemon?

Attached: 1526606331593.png (900x675, 632K)

I'm normally pretty lenient about similarities in design (especially with generic 'cute mammal' sorts) but this damn rabbit is just too much.

But at least we can infer from the resemblance that Scorbunny's evo will fucking suck.

Attached: chescorch.png (618x1053, 625K)

Fairy is broken right now due to being useful on offense and only being weak defensively to types that are themselves defensive (steel/dark) and therefore not premier powerhouse threats.

Can somebody please post that list about Japanese player ratings for the individual games of the series? Surprising that they have good taste.

God damn what a narcissistic perspective.

So basically you want it to be removed because it doesnt appeal to YOU specifically despite it existing in the games since literally the beginning if the franchise...?

Pokemon isnt exclusively single player and the trade mechanics are there to encourage interaction with other people.

grow the fuck up you turbo autist.

What exactly is your point? There being a lot of new pokemon and the possibility of disagreeing does not mean the clear majority of the designs aren't awful, which they are.

>steel/dark
Meant to say poison/steel. My bad.

But they aren't. Most of gen V's mons were good.

i know bro wtf why do rodents look the same????

Wait a minute, chimchar and meowth have similar mouths
Mouth that Litten shares too

Attached: LittenArt.png (250x250, 63K)

The game is almost entirely a single player game sans the minimal trading and PvP elements. It's not an MMO, it's not something like a Multiplayer mode offset from the Single Player mode. Trading and battling are aspects of single player, ones I would prefer to not be in the game. I've played since the first generation, so it's not like I didn't have issues with it from the get go, but if I buy a game and can't experience it in its entirety solely because I have to have someone else available, that's kind of shit for the consumer, isn't it? The entire gimmick of not having access to all Pokemon in the generation because they insist on having two games itself is shit, but that plays back to the aspect of them trying to sell more copies and get people to work collaboratively.

You say the game isn't exclusively single player, yet almost the entire game is a story based game focused around you, the protag, being the very best trainer and completing your Pokedex. Every multiplayer aspect isn't team based, it's single-player based. You don't fight on a team for PvP, you fight one versus one. You trade to one person. The game is basically single player with locked out mechanics set by the developer.

Go away furvert

DENSETSU NO KUSOGE

>across 3 different gens, this pokemon shares some traits with others

Attached: what.jpg (496x496, 30K)

>4 was decent
4 gave us lucario so you're obviously fucking wrong.

There's like a couple of actually good ones, a bunch of decent ones, far more bland and uninspired ones and enough completely insultingly ugly ones.

Zoroark too, because Lucario was a shit furbait

You wrote an entire essay trying to save face.
Get a grip on your life

Hmmm... that lagomorph...

Attached: 1551334156631.jpg (1080x1080, 72K)

Fighting Hydreigon and Salamence was much worse. Salamence forced crazy shit like Scarfed Weavile to be a thing. Both it and Hydreigon could run mix very well and Fire Blast/Draco Meteor/EQ/Focus Blast pretty much meant you lost if you guessed wrong once.

To be fair, if you consider that puny amount of text to be comparable to an essay then you need to get a grip on your reading.
