Dubs are objectively better, since I can listen to the voice and understand it, rather than having to read text and then wait for the VA to finish yapping through everything I just read, which can ruin build-up for lines, it has more of an impact to actually understand what a person is saying when they break out into a yell or something, instead of seeing half of the subtitles turn to caps and waiting for the screaming to start.
Sure, some games have absolutely terrible dubs, with some of those being so bad they're good, like PS1 era Capcom voice acting, but a majority of dubs do their job perfectly fine.
90% of the time, the only way a dub could be the worse option, is if you can actually understand Japanese or if you're just a fucking weeaboo.

Wrong, I almost never bother changing from English in vidya and I can't stand live-action shit dubbed. There's way too much of a disconnect between what's on-screen and what's I'm hearing, unlike voice acting which is just that, VOICE acting, a live-action performance relies on voice, body movement, facial expression etc; you can't just take one of those out.

It honestly depends on the style and atmosphere the game is going for for me.
I honestly preferred the dub for Fist of the North Star Lost Paradise, despite the characters all being technically Japanese the roided out Mad Max aesthetic lends itself really well to English. It doesn't help that I thought the Japanese cast just being the Yakuza actors pigeonholed into vaguely similar HnK roles was a questionable gimmick that didn't really work but that's besides the point.
But I watched the dub trailers for Judge Eyes and it's just extremely off-putting to see these super realistic looking Japanese dudes in a super realistic looking Japanese city speaking American English in the same way that watching the Japanese dub of something with realistic western characters like RE2 or MGSV is. Despite both cases having more than capable voice actors doing the dub work my brain is screaming that something's off. Same with Persona, the character designs aren't super realistic but it's still really weird for these very Japanese teenagers to be speaking with American voices. I have some fondness for the dubs Persona 3 and 4, but that's in spite of their many issues and mostly because I grew up on them.
On a side note, I'm really glad that Sega is offering both a more localized dubtitle script and a more faithful subbed script for Judge Eyes.
