dark souls was the first game I beat in a while that I actually had to take a break because I felt like nothing else would come close. 2017 was probably my favorite year of games other than 2004 or 1998. i beat persona 5, yakuza, and cuphead during the summer. there's still tons of great games out there, i'm just waiting for my next one like that. just started ace combat 7 and from how everyone else is posting about it, i hope this one is like that too.

These games are stupid heavily based on the twists though

For V3 it's worth at least one more playthrough to see all the weird hints and unexplained shit though, my favorite is the lone autist who doesn't shut up about the dolls in Kaede's death implying the necronomicon may have been used in the past

Is 0 a good starting off point for Yakuza? I know it's a prequel but I'm wondering if it's a MGS situation where you're just best off playing in order of release

Yes. It was designed to be an entry point for new players.

I'm currently playing 0 and nearing the end and it's very newcomer friendly.
From what I hear it's a pretty good start to spot but later entries in the series don't reach the highest points that 0 does.

depends what you plan on playing forward. if you want to play the ps2 games, start there. otherwise start with 0, if you plan on going the kiwami route since they have a lot of tie ins from 0. 3, 4, 5 are either out or coming out in japan
