As someone who hasn't played any of the Ace Attorney games, is the trilogy a good place to start?

No. Just emulate the DS games. The HD sprites and pretty much everything visually in the trilogy remake are atrocious.

generally the first game is a good place to start any series my dude

also you can start with any game, they're chock full of ridiculous exposition

>"As someone who hasn't played any of the Ace Attorney games, is the first three games of the franchise a good place to start?"
I don't know user, what do you think?

Trilogy collection is different from the first three games.

no, it isn't

It's the first three games with "better looking" "HD" sprites

You're better off either injecting the trilogy into a hacked 3ds and catching up on the entire series by also injecting them or just emulating

Play the DS versions.

get save files for all games that are completed so you can access all cases and play in the order the cases take place

Yes. Also a good place to stop.

I've played everything here except Dai because fuck Capcom not localizing. What else similar could I play?

Zero Escape, Ghost Trick, Danganronpa, pre No More Heroes Suda games (The Silver Case, Flower, Sun, and Rain, 25th Ward, Killer 7), Hotel Dusk, Umeniko, Infinity series.
All of those have some elements of Phoenix Wright in them and all of them are enjoyable.

Anyone know if ghost trick is okay on IOS? I’m willing to pay their shit mobile prices to make up for pirating all those DS games on an R4 back in the day.

I meant all the games pic mentioned, including the bottom text. I still have the suda games left though. Might try them soon.

Zero Escape, first two games in particular are fantastic. Be sure to play 999 on a DS.
If you like Zero Escape, Uchikoshi's prior works (Never 7, Ever 17, Remember 11) are pretty good, but are straight Visual Novels.
All of Cing's adventure games are good (Another Code, Hotel Dusk, Last Widow)
Danganronpa straight up uses AA's formula but is way more anime. Pretty good though.
Higirashi and Umineko are fucking fantastic (especially Umineko), but are straight up visual novels.
I've also heard good things about Steins;Gate and the other SciAdv games, but I haven't played them and I know most of the games aren't translated yet.

hey

Not vidya, but watch/ Kaiji if you like the crazy turnabouts and comebacks in Ace Attorney.

Already played most of them, I tried Ever 17 but got bored, but I haven't tried Umineko yet.
Dude, I almost have no Fukumoto works left to read.

>As someone who has never played a game series before, should I start by playing the first games released?

Umineko is kino, give it a go. Probably the last "big" thing you're missing in this type of subgenre without delving into super niche VNs.

Feels bad running out of this type of things.

There's always new stuff coming out at least. Uchikoshi is working on AI and that should be out this year, Danganronpa team coming up in a Zanki Zero in a few months, Ace Attorney team is undoubtedly working on the next game, Shu Takumi is probably working on something new, etc.

Cling dying is a shame though.

I know about Ai, it looks like we might get a release date on this week's A-set video.

thanks gonna go with this

>Professor Layton Vs. Phoenix Wright
>pretty good
eeeeeeeeh I don't think so

I actually liked it, I've played through twice. It's a shame all trials are one day with almost no investigation, but they somehow make part of a grater plot so I guess it's alright.

Worth playing at least.

I really liked Dai, but overall it's not that great. I personally found the atmosphere to be good as I really liked this 1900-ish steampunk theme, but objectively speaking, the characters aren't that great and the story (especially of DGS1) isn't that great either. Often, it was quite predictable oh and this little girl and sherlock holmes are probably one of the most annoying and embarrassing characters I have ever seen in an AA game.

I'm waiting for the translation to play it, I have no idea of japanese. The setting really interests me and I'm curious about the new gameplay mechanics.
I got that same feeling with Dual Destinies, I liked it but it wasn't actually that good, I'd even say it was a weak game compared to the lprevious installments.
