Sony inadvertently just made e3 relevant again because whatever MS or Nintendo announce at e3 everyone will be talking about it and comparing it to what Sony could/could have announced to counter it. If they thought it's becoming irrelevant then they just made it the no1 talking point for the first half of this year by not showing up. If there's any e3 to go down in history this gen it will most likely be e3 2019. We already know just from confirmed/leaked games that it's going to be possibly the best e3 of the gen with Nintendo showing new Pokemon, animal crossing, metroid etc and with MS announcing fable reboot, halo infinite, obsidians game and not forgetting the leaked (pretty much confirmed) partnership between Nintendo and Microsoft which will be unveiled at this e3 for sure.

Smash Ultimate got a teaser trailer.which revealed content: Inklings and the implication that it'd be a change up (at least if cast visuals were to be considered at the time) and not just.a straight port.
Animal Crossing got a teaser through doubling up as a Smash reveal but Ultimately showed nothing more than a title.

Sony fucked up.

It can be the greatest the business has ever put out, but will ultimately fail since the community has been drawn, quartered, the pieces hung up to dry, cooked, fed to whatever new community it's garnered, that community getting hung, drained of all fluids and told to do the moonwalk.

The last E3 where I got excited, they announced a bunch of games that still aren't out yet.

Consider that Concrete Genie and Days Gone were getting worse previews than Crackdown 3 did and you can see why they don't want to show nothing but Tsushima, TLOU 2 and DS (And even then Tsushima got fairly negative impressions since it had Arkham clone combat when everyone expected Bushido Blade)

Nintendo is a wild card in the worst case possible. 2017 made me think they actually realized what a shitshow Wii U was software wise and were fixing it.
Then 2018 happened. Literally nothing fucking released aside from Smash. Kirby was a disappointment, Mario Tennis was horribly lean on content, and nothing else interesting released.
Now we're in 2019 and it looks like nothing good releases the entire first half of the year. That's 1 1/2 years of nothing but Smash hitting us.
Mario Maker 2 and Astral Chain look good. Fire Emblem looks like a fucking disaster. The way they revealed Animal Crossing makes me afraid that it's going to be extremely barebones on release.
Aside from that what can be announced? Maybe Monolith's next game? Maybe a new Paper Mario? Where's Pikmin 4?

Considering all kojimas past games have amazing gameplay I'm going to go ahead and trust that he delivers again. Story will definitely be something we haven't seen before, unique, and actually make you think afterwards. Retro Studios is the biggest 'what the fuck'. They should have been the ones to patch up Nintendo's awful 2018, but instead they've just been missing for years. They had to have had SEVERAL games be cancelled to have not even a trailer ready after 5 years. Yet even then, we're supposed to believe that Nintendo handed over the development of Metroid Prime 4 even after all that? Maybe they're hoping for a Metroid Prime 1 miracle again, what with a studio in disaster somehow pushing out a GOAT.
