yes, I think so, although I'm not sure how well it will age.
Ehh. When it comes to Persona it's 3rd place
P2:IS/ET>P3>P5>P4>P1
When it comes to SMT as a whole no way in hell.
No it's literally the worst Persona game & fails at every concievable aspect after the Kamoshida dungeon. It's more poorly paced then a Studio Perriot anime
>rpg
>can't influence the main plot in any way shape or form
this aint it chief
No
What does P2 ET stand for?
No but P4 is.
playing p4 after playing p5 was an absolutely horrible choice
P1>P3>P2IS>P2EP>P4>PP>P5
End of Tatsuya
It's meant to be EP as in Eternal Punishment though.
It's not even the best persona game, and it's definitely not one of the best MegaTen games
This but the Gold version.
Persona 1 was incredibly mediocre, you fucking snowflake
>EP anything other than dead last or second to last
EP was a mistake. P4 was a worse mistake though.
Persona 5 is a JRPG for people who dislike JRPGs.
Nope. In fact it's not even an RPG it's a watered down VN with a shallow turn based combat system. The only thing it shares with an RPG is leveling up.
If you genuinely think this weebshit is a top RPG youre a retard my guy.
It has numerous downgrades from Persona 4 Golden. How can it be considered one of the best RPGs ever made, when it isn't even the best RPG from its series?
>Having this level of bad taste
>scooby doo mystery is the best rpg
lol okay
its another
>my game must be about knights or teenagers with big swords killing god or else its not good plot
episode
kill yourself.
Have you only ever played like 5 RPGs before?
I hated most of the characters in P4. The only ones I liked were Naoto, Rise, Kanji and Dojima. Teddie is the worst thing to ever happen.
not him but P1 has the best combat mechanics, stat management and dungeon design(especially in SQQ). So it's not mediocre and is the best RPG in the series
>started it 2-3 days ago. already 11 hours in.
>realize it's perfect for the switch, and coming out for it soon
>dont want to start over
just kill me
Yes.
Series fans call it a bad Persona game, as if Persona was ever anything other than padded out garbage with atrocious gameplay. P5 is the only one that's fun enough to be worth a playthrough.
It's by far the best persona game as far as gameplay and aesthetics are concerned. It's not really that high of bar though since most of the SMT franchise is fairly unpolished.
projecting much?
thats not what projecting means retard
Play a real Shin Magoomi Tensai game
>P2 > anything
It's literally the same gameplay as 3 and 4 just with a fancier camera.
No, it's fucking horrible & this is coming from someone who literally only cares about Zelda & Persona at this point
> There's No Real Overarching Drive Or Motive
> Horrible Pacing, it starts out slow only to get good only to fall apart again & doesn't pick back up until another 30 hours in
> Corridor Dungeons And Design Gets Repetitive Fast
> Dialogue Choices Often Mean Nothing
> Horrible Writing & is basically 40 hours worth of the Loyality Missions from Mass Effect 2
> Over-Levelling Is Way Too Easy
> Downright offensive Level Padding that only exists to further extend the game's length
> Characters are bland pieces of shit that are blantant rehashes of Sterotypes that were established in Persona 3 & Persona 4
> Incredibly anti-climatic ending, that feels unfinished & rushed
> Its Core Message Is Delivered Very Poorly & Morgana is an insufferable Piece of shit
> We were sold on a lie that this would be a dark & mature storyline that returns to the style of Persona 2 & Nocturne, only to find out that it's a literal copy & paste of Persona 4
> It peaks at Kamoshida's dungeon as it's the only level with a sense of initiative, but this was ruined because the game is far to restricitve & it never does anything with this tone the rest of the game
> Heavy Rain syndrome were bullshit plot points are outright hidden & happen off screen only to be revealed later
> Romance is meaningless & never goes anywhere which makes the waifu bullshit even more worthless since it's the only part of the game that makes it worth playing
ahahahaha, that one has literally the worst story
Golden is the best persona in terms of gameplay and QoL stuff though
Sorry meant to type EP for Eternal Punishment
P4 is overall mediocre in general
It's one of the only sequels that have come out recently that wasn't a resounding disappointment.
It's literally the same thing
Except P5 was a huge disappointment in almost every area that wasn't music, UI and general polish. And even then the music was merely good and never reaches the heights of the series.
P5 is a great game overall but it blows it's load way too early. Kamoshida is by far the best villain in the game and everyone after him is either not as good like the art plagiarist or redundant like Kanoshiro who is a literal mob boss. The only really interesting one after Kamoshida is Futaba because she isn't actually evil and willingly asked for help.
Persona 4's story is still miles better then the garbage that was Persona 5
How old are you? I was in high school when I played p4. Every character was likable and endearing in their own way and very relatable. Especially Yukiko who is often mocked by half of Yea Forums. Naoto and Rise were shitty anime-pandering tropes you should probably kill yourself. Teddie was genuinely bad though.
Fuck no. It’s weeb trash.
>literally anyone making fun of p4's story
>IN A P5 THREAD
it's in the top 70 for sure
>Especially Yukiko who is often mocked by half of Yea Forums
>literal Yamato Nadeshiko isn't a shitty anime-pandering tropes
Fucking hell, at least try not to be so smug when you know jackshit about anime or video games.
I was also in high school and I felt the complete oppisite. I hated the vast majority of the cast especially Yukiko (her entire character arc leads nowhere and her only personality trait is having a shitty laugh) and Chie (I played P2 first and found her character entirely redundant cause her character was done better with Lisa Silverman from P2:IS). Naoto and Dojima have genuinely interesting character arc's and Rise is just plain likable.
> BBUT WEEB!!!
Kill yourself you fucking Pahjeet, go back to R3ddit
>Cutscene Simulator 2017
>a good RPG
Choose one. I'm convinced that the only reason people like this series is because of the waifus.
Rise is literally just wish fulfillment. She has no character. Atleast Yukiko is funny.
Maybe on this board. I enjoyed it and so have all my friends that are a fan of the franchise.
No by JRPG standards it's shit, but it's still infinitely superior to every western RPG from the last 12 years, regardless of how much Westcucks will cry about it
Stop capitalizing random letters you fucking autist
Eternal Translationproject
All Persona games are good in their own ways.
P1 dungeons are shite and don't reward exploration in any way. Soul HAckers and SJ do it better.
Personally it's my favorite. I don't usually care for JRPGs, but this one had style for days and fun combat.
>Yukiko
>Funny
I have never seen a more bland milktoast character in my life. I'd say Rise is similar to Toph from avatar in the fact that while she may not have very much character development, the character that is there is at least enjoyable.
NEW GAME GOOD
OLD GAME BAD
Yukiko is the most boring character in not just Persona but MegaTen as a whole
yeah, I was talking about Persona dungeons
OLD GAME GOOD
NEW GAME BAD
Literally any of the main characters in P5 are way more bland. Like Haru, Makoto and Anne. Try and tell me they are more interesting than Yukiko. Yukiko has made me laugh atleast 5 times while I don't remember a single time I laughed in 5 at all.
Anyone else find the vocals in P5 really fucking horrible? I enjoy most of the instrumental stuff but I just can't bear this faux-nigger shit.
I think you just have a shit sense of humor user. Makoto's sheer level of social autism made me laugh several times. Yukiko never got a rise out of me once, in fact I was more annoyed with her than anything.
It was like a really outdated Death Note parody that also took itself seriously. They even ripped off the keikaku thing. Atlus are such hacks.
I personally rank the Persona games 4>5>3 and then who gives a shit about the first 2
I prefer 4 cause the group actually felt like people who were naturally great friends but never would have met if they weren't brought together by the events.
it also makes me depressed as fuck cause real life could never be as good as Persona 4
Who was in the wrong here
>I just can't bear this faux-nigger shit
have you even played P3? lel
Its the duality of man, both are wrong and right at the same time
I completely agree, P5 dropped the ball hard. The singer that got had the most ear grating engrish, and I love 1, 3, and 4's vocal tracks. If i hear beneath the mask again my ear drums might burst.
>Being this much of a pleb
Persona 2:IS/EP is the best nigger.
The pronunciations of some words in the vocals are fucked too
Persona 4 has the greatest soundtrack of any game ever
Persona 2 is hot fucking garbage. I drop it everytime I try and play it. At least 1 is a dark story with incredible atmosphere and neat first person dungeon crawling. Persona 2's combat is braindead and the story is horribly told and paced
Replace 'P1' with just 'Persona' in general and you've got a point.
Shame about the dogshit gameplay huh.
It has different endings brainlet
P3 and P4 vocalists were way better imo. Lotus Juice pulled it off.
Yeah it just got me really disappointed after how much everyone hyped up the OST. I quite like beneath the mask without the singing though.
LOOKS LIKE ITS TIME FOR AN ALL OUT ATTACK X1000000000000
>milktoast
Vs. do whatever you want because P2 is piss easy or spam fusion spells?
>He doesn't know the sheer levels of depression that P2 reaches
P2 is my fav and I'll be the first to say it has a really slow start, but once that ball gets rolling its by far one of the best narratives in SMT
At least it's satisfying
Why, I see it spouted as the best but never see any reasoning besides "good story", but then they never talk about the story either.
P2 villain is literally the most blandest, he does evil shit cause he is evil incarnated, at least p3, 4 and 5 ones did evil shit with a good intention
youtube.com
Name a better persona song
If you've never played one before, sure
Someone add Persona 5 to this
>didn't try at all to get far into yukikos social link
she didn't act like ching chong bing bong word at all, she just looked like it. Quit projecting and trying to sound like a complete autistic holier than thou sperglord because you think you "know a lot about anime or video games". Kill yourself.
Yukiko was raised in a family that immediately expected her to continue running the family business. She doesn't want to because it feels forced. As she matures she realizes she wants to because she cares about her family. I know a lot of people who went through this exact thing because I also lived in a very small rural town out in the country. It has absolutely fuck-nothing to do with "anime video games" and your weebshit buzzwords that actual japanese people in japan haven't used since like the 60s unironically.
>"P4 and P5 villain's arent bland"
>Both Izanami and Yaldabaoth literally show up out of fucking nowhere and say they are the last boss ala FF9
I was just pointing out your hypocrisy, there is no need to be so mad. Yamato Nadeshiko is very much an archetype and her social link doesn't make her special in anyway whatsoever.
I somewhat agree with Izanami but Marie made it a little better, as for Yaldy he in his Igor form talks about the shit he is gonna do and want you to do
t. chiefag who spent her whole social link hating yukiko because chie kept getting assblasted that she was uglier than yukiko and she and you knew it, and she only realized that she didnt need to hate yukiko because yukiko was better than her only after you put her dick in her but you still hate her because you projected yukiko as the girl in highschool that wouldnt date you because she knew you were too ugly for her
t. ironic weeb
Gameplay wise P2 (specifically Innocent Sin) is braindead, Eternal Punishment fixes the combat. Narrative wise its one of the best in SMT as a whole, but it's difficult to talk about with people who don't know it due to all the sheer Lovecraftian insanity. It's similar to KH in that matter as there is just to much shit to give a tl;dr about it.
can someone explain the ending to me and why igor changed his voice? and why the two girls were fused?
I'm guessing they were all personas? I mean imagine if you could fuse your team members.
>his penis has handlebars.
Nice.
Adachi
Haha Maya is a virgin
The biggest issue with that twist at the end of P5 is that you would only get the hints of there being something wrong if you played the previous persona games. Igor's voice was much MUCH deeper than it should have been and was oddly much more antagonistic to the player as well. Basically the Igor you were meeting throughout the whole game was a fake and in order to keep things under control split the MC's velvet room attendant into 2 halves so she wouldnt pose a threat since the Velvet room attendants are extremely powerful.
and it was still better than the rest because mediocre gameplay 90% of the time is better than decent gameplay 20% of the time and shitty reading for 80%
My memory is a bit hazy, so someone correct me. Real Igor from P1-P4 was locked up. Yaldy decided to larp as Igor, which is why he had a deeper voice. Fake Igor split Lavenza into two, making them incomplete and losing some memories or some shit, and made the twins work for him to help punish humanity instead of guiding it, like what the other attendants would normally do, or something like that.
I'm pretty sure the real reason why Igor has a deeper voice is because the Nip voice actor for Igor died after P4 and they just made up a reason as to why he has a deeper voice now. Up until P5, they just reused voice clips whenever he appeared.
Did nothing wrong, he just killed 2 thots, he made the world a better place
The thing about Yald is that you'd only be able to pick up the hints that something is wrong if you played previous Persona games.
And thats all the autistic jap wrote.
Hopefully you appreciate Kaneko more now.
The Igor you meet the whole game was fake while the real one was being impersonated by a demon who was the personification of human's desires. He gives people with strong desires their own world where they control everything, the palaces. But because he's supposed to serve humans, he also gives some humans the ability to enter these palaces to see if people's wish for a world where they have no free will but infinite desires would be stronger than a world with free will.
The two girls were originally one but I guess he couldn't kill them so he could only weaken her by splitting her in two and wiping their memories. They're not personas, probably also some kind of gods
Persona is more deep than i thought
Not really. P2 and to a lesser extent P3 are the only ones that actually gets that deep into thought about the persona's each character gets
I think not, the art book of P4 and 5 goes on some big details too, i don't know for P1
>sae is the dumbest one and totally gets it backwards
that's true
Yeah. It's mindblowing how Last Surprise is fucking shit. River in the Desert is shit too unless you're talking about the instrumental version.
Still the best Persona track fite me

Beneath the Mask

I like the PSP remake of 1's
How essential is the Snow Queen quest in 1 anyway? Is it even canon? I want to playthrough the game but I like the atmosphere of the PS1 game with it's older primitive 3D and music more than the PSP game game.
Absolutely not.
SQQ is kino and very much canon. Yukino gets all her story from it.
I guess I'll do the main game on PS1 then the Snow Quest on PSP
It's not a good RPG in general.
Never played another Persona. P5's dungeons were a massive drag and I genuinely had a hard time beating them without falling asleep. The dating sim gameplay is addictive, but the story gets in the way, as it takes away too much time without warning. In the end, you don't really have time to check all of the game's content, not just Confidants, but also activities that were just not as optimal as others. You end up finishing the game with a sense of bitterness. Wanting players to do a NG+ would be fine if the dungeons weren't so bad. Characters are good. Story has good moments, but ultimately predictable. Combat system is nice, but too low risk compared to SMT. Music is fantastic and so are the overall aesthetics.
To me, P5 is the very definition of a solid 8/10. Far from perfect but very likeable.
The dungeons were a massive improvement over earlier games. And yet they still sucked
Pathetic.
Only thing in the PS1 version is that they reduced the encounter rate from the Japanese version and upped the experience you get from each of them but forgot to increase the amount of money you get so you may run low at some point
Takes "riding that pussy" to a whole new level
It's a very good JRPG. Only FFXV-kun and SE fanboys in general, envious Nintendorks, Xenoblade waifufaggers (why P5 stole all attention?), P3 and P4 nostalgic retards (muh old is good new is bad) and shitposters disagree.
Based and Redpilled
I like it a lot, but 3 and 4 were better, and DQXI and, yes, XBC2 were better JRPGs from this gen. Still very good just not great. The UI is better than the actual game.
>FFXV-kun
he thinks any game that is not FFXV is the worst game ever
Like pottery
If it were consistent it might be but the quality starts to dive after Madarame and it has too many places it could stop but keeps going at the end. Still a pretty good game overall though.
P5>P3>P2>P1>P4
>RPGs
lmao not even close. At least say JRPG, although I doubt it'd be true anyway.
Actually it's:
P5 > P4 > P3 > P2 > P1
I'm impressed how much cut content people have found already
Oh boy it's that time again.
Gameplay: 5 > 4 > 2 > 1 > 3
Story: 3 > 4 > 2 > 5 > 1

Overall: 4 > 3 > 5 > 2 > 1

As bad as Teddie was his character was far more impactful to the theme of the game than Morgana. He was also better written too.
