I don't think there's enough balanced characters that share the same systems out there to make a game in MUGEN that isn't just a recreation of an existing fighting game.

Without a /q/ board anymore that's an absolutely draconian rule.

They added a shit ton of boring recolors that diluted the cast and waiting to see a fan favorite character fight became a chore.

Just found this video/channel recently and the stuff this engine can pull off compared to OG MUGEN is wild.

Whoever made those DMC characters is a legend. Great sprite work, very faithful to the source material, predate the MvC3 adaptations IIRC, and have really good AI which is a rarity among MUGEN characters. I'd love to see them in Ikemen.

From what I've gathered Ikemen is based on MUGEN, but is just a more expanded version of it with more features. I don't think the character compatibility is 1:1 but it can't be that difficult. Also the engine has been around a lot longer than I thought, since like 2015, but I guess only hardcore MUGEN devs work with it while most do stuff like SaltyBet with the original.
