oh boy yet another depressed jaded NEET general

Hey, aren't you supposed to actually be playing the fucking game? Heard it has a looooot of content.

>not having 2 monitors to play Eureka and shitpost here at the same time

Yeah, I'm comfily crafting while doing other things.

>Eureka
>play
You can't really say you're 'playing' Eureka, you're afk until some fate pops. The most exciting things that can happen is someone sniping BA portals and people getting buttmad in chat or some idiot resets Ovni and chat goes ballistic.

Come home to Ragol.

we're actually actively spawning NMs and killing them.

The only solution is to wait for WoW classic. I really can't think of anything else. Even if Blizz fucks it up to some degree and even if it'll never bet he same, it'll STILL be miles better than anything else because current day MMOs are just that shit.

Attached: 4132487916.jpg (1080x1158, 793K)

Never farmed for those sweet heat or cold boxes?

Name one thing wrong with being jaded

imagine getting excited for a nu-sjwblizzard release and not just playing on private servers or hosting your own.

You could have at least start out with WHAT MMO YOU'RE PLAYING and shit instead of that.

Because OP is a faggot,
WHAT MMO ARE YOU PLAYING?
WHAT IS YOUR GOAL IN SAID MMO
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

Attached: Reag_1335836720.jpg (813x815, 218K)

As someone who never played vanilla and only played BC on a private server, I don't really understand the long appeal of Classic.
There will have nothing new added, and everything has already been discovered/datamined/analyzed.
What will you do after you already did all the raid countless time?
Pvp?
I would honestly be surprised if Activision Blizzard didn't nerf the shit out of it for harassment.

>WHAT MMO ARE YOU PLAYING?
why do you care?
>WHAT IS YOUR GOAL IN SAID MMO
why do you care?
>WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
my package

The shadowniggers art drawn by amano is shit.
What the fuck was he thinking.

add:
>DFO wants you to stop playing

They think that Blizzard will magically make the game better than progression based private servers. When in reality it will be a butchered experienced catered to both the modern Blizzard audience and the """old""" audience.

Why aren't you playing wakfu right now? It's comfy, pretty, no p2w, lots of cosmetics for e-whores, strategy that requires constant awareness of your partners and communication, and no gold seller bots

Lightbros, do you think everyone will hop onto Chaos bandwagon because of
>muh raids

Attached: NagaStop.jpg (585x464, 56K)

Classic WoW is already confirmed to have Sharding and use the modern WoW client and Blizzard launcher. It's not Vanilla at all. Just a janky remade version.

t. no ozma kill

lmao mountlet

I'm sure you're used to modern shit MMO's where you force yourself through garbage content just to wait for the next batch of garbage to rampage through in a weekend, but imagine an MMO that's actually an alright RPG and where the content is good enough to justify replaying after 15 years.

ESO is fucking awesome. Eat shit

>BA is hard content
lel

Who knows if too many people try to change to a certain database SE will close the borders.

hey you said it not me

Frogs will shit up the raiding environment eventually. Better to get away from them when it is still free.

>quit wow during legion

Try actually enjoying things lads.

Nigga you just stack the best main stat and secondary stat for your class. The only time you have to think about anything else is when fire resistance comes up for Molten Core. It's hardly a RPG. It's a Themepark skinnerbox.

Copying Dark Souls.

>playing on private shit
No thanks, got my fill of third worlders, poorfags, corrupt mods and incompetent faggots.
I recently quit XIV again after seeing the new content and am just waiting for the next thing to release. That is, Classic, and maybe Moonlight Blade because it looks like it could be fun for a while.
Yes, PvP. Maybe gear an alt or two. Farm gold and try getting rich. Have fun helping noob retards. Dick around in Orgrimmar. Get my fill of Classic for good, basically. I'm really interested in playing it from the first patch to the last, casually. What's the point of burning through everything as quickly as possible, as you said? I just want another journey through a game I used to love. Content releases didn't use to matter as much as they do now.
Hopefully it inspires big companies to reevaluate what makes a MMO good so we can get something else than the current nu-WoW inspired instanced weekly grind threadmill faggotry.

>pay pig sub based mmo's
Nah I'll find something free thanks faggot

So why is everything coming out shit. Is it mainly design problems mixed with greed, is it the fact that it's to high risk for anyone competent to invest in?

Pretty much this.

It's a great game to play "casually" but it works for me. I can't play hardcore because I don't have the time anymore.

FFXIV is beautiful and it's fun. What more do I need?

Attached: ffxiv_01262019_223854_291.png (1920x1018, 2.99M)

Because they spend too much money on stuff they wouldn't need and in investors.

I said an alright RPG. Besides, RPG's are much more than number crunchers and Vanilla-TBC is the only version of WoW with more to it than number crunching. Arguably only Vanilla desu.

Leveling is the best part of ff14. However, the 'endgame' is very sparse content wise. If you like glamslutting and afking in cities, it's a good game.

>He hasn't played Vanilla and thinks it's like WotLK

>>pay pig sub based mmo's
>Nah I'll find something free thanks faggot

They haven't really been making exciting content lately.

I think the bigger problem with MMOs is that people want it to be games that replace their real life and want 10000 hours of playtime without getting bored. Both are jaded and unrealistic expectations.

You're not far away from truth. But in the big picture, hauling kids around before and after work and not having a moment's peace is not appealing either.

Well the expansion is around the corner.

Yeah, three months from now.

The's no reason to expect that a pvp centric, social MMO wouldn't be able to have infinite playability without getting bored.

But I was able to do exactly that in the past with WoW and FFXI?
I don't have nearly as much time today but I'd rather have that than awful streamlined nu-MMOs catering to the lowest common denominator.

Time to unsub.
Or wait for the FFXV collaboration and grab that sweet 4 people mount.

There are already PvP MMOs out there. Why aren't you playing it without getting bored?

>new expansion hits
>do msq, beast tribe
>do the 2 primals for weapons/accessories
>waste hours in PF trying to clear savage
If you're a solo player and none of your friends play the game, you're fucked.

>WHAT MMO ARE YOU PLAYING?
classic wow on northdale
>WHAT IS YOUR GOAL IN SAID MMO
making a hunter. gonna twink out with hurricane at 49 until real classic comes out.
>WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
Real classic. also that new world survival mmo.

Big true. I unsub from ffxiv and play WoW when I get bored. Then quit when something like BFA happens and catch up on content and I always get my Mmo fix. People that expect to play an Mmo for 8 hours a day and not experience any content droughts ever are delusional and you can never ever help these people.

I think I'll stay subbed to all of ShB just so I can be current when ultimate statics are recruiting. I always finish up raid tiers late as fuck and it's hard to get into stuff.

Basically

>I'll find something free
Enjoy the sea of JAJAJAJAJAJA

I've been enjoying OSRS. Only have enough ingame gold for 14 days of membership and saving it for when I have free time to quest. For some reason, my card doesnt trust jagex and I can only pay for membership by buying gift cards or ingame gold

I'm not playing EVE Online because they it's subscription based and a chore to play trying to sub with in game currency, on top of a chore to play in general. Asset management/logistics is a pain in the ass. If it wasn't for those 2 things I would be playing EVE, but the work required in asset management is part of what makes it special. It's strange to like something, but also find it to much work. That's probably just my depressed NEET side speaking.

Basically, if I wasn't a depressed NEET, I would definitely be playing EVE Online.

I had fun with some F2P korean games.
Paying for a game doesn't make it good you know.

I'm sick of tabsharteting. Will we ever get a good action mmo?

Attached: 1499745611659.png (1080x1288, 1.36M)

battlegrounds ruined pvp in mmos. The only good battlegrounds was alterac valley before the npc nerf.

PvP in mmos should be done by people who got their gear doing pve dungeons and crafting, and it should be fighting over mob and node spawns.

The biggest redpill in this entire thread.

People want MMOs to be like .hack, it absorbs their life.

I don't want to replace my real life, though. I treat it as a game where I can easily get +50 hours worth it compare to shit games that is out today. Most RPG have you level up your character until you beat the story and then the story end. At least with an mmo, I can still play with my character after she beat the story and enjoy the other content the game offers. This is ultimately the biggest appeal for me. Yes, servers closing down or wipe is a thing, but you have to consider that you generally delete or do nothing with your save file of an RPG if you finish that, too.

>For some reason, my card doesnt trust jagex

LOL. Forgot about that. So many banks still have Jagex blacklisted for card payments.

This is due to their starting days as a game studio. They had a lot of issues so many banks blacklisted the company.

based. literally any phantasy star online is better than all other mmos.

No unless you live in korea.

Phantasy Star Online 2

I knew someone IRL that was like this. All he would do is play WoW and ignore his real life responsibilities. It was unhealthy and sad.

You may have thought that i implied paying = automatically good, but it just escapes the inherent design flaw of having an over powered cash shop that makes it p2w. Once we have that basic road block out of the way, an Mmo is much more appealing to me since I play the end game and don't want to compete with Chang using three of his parents credit cards over powering me

You're not allowed to post the truth on Yea Forums.

Attached: 24.png (500x377, 183K)

I just completed Dragon Slayer in OSRS for the first time and I'm admittedly kind of ecstatic about it
now for the soul-crushing grind to get enough mining/combat levels so i can grind for money to buy bonds because i'm a cheapass

Attached: 1541790881872.jpg (679x657, 170K)

Classic will flop but I have 7 tokens saved up to pay for it so I'm gonna play it for a couple of months maybe
But overall I'm waiting for the european or russian lost ark release. Should be sometime around the summer as well I guess.

I can't stand using bonds for my game time because I have to do a ton of grinding on shit I don't enjoy to keep my sub.

I hate that they increased the price of the subscription but I'd still rather pay money than the gold.

Wait, Classic will have WoW tokens? That's gonna fuck up the economy hard and issue a new age of pay2win for clears and mount skills.

>They changed the whistle emote in WoW so its no longer a cat call and more of a "Hey you" type whistle

I unsubbed because of this, you'd think the SJWs could leave a 15 year old game alone. But no.

Attached: 1507586044949.gif (256x192, 1.91M)

No, but both games will have subscription so you can just pay with BFA gold.

Attached: dab3.png (400x208, 56K)

Retail and classic share subscription time so you can just use all your shit from retail to buy classic gametime
The classic itself probably won't have tokens

>Classic will flop
How though?
Realistically you can predict that there'll be more players playing classic than retail on release, then this original playerbase will decline and stabilize to an undefined number that I imagine will be equal or greater than retail because it'll be the only good MMO on the market. Clear cut OSRS case here.

Attached: 1548529073072.png (512x436, 535K)

Classic is going up against FFXIV Shadowbringers this summer. At this rate of development, Shadowbringers will be out first and steal all the summer hype while Classic tries to rush out on the scene to compete and flop in a classic modern Blizzard fashion.

Classic has sharding, it's a flop on day 1.

Not him but Blizz put much of their power to close down Nostalriu, a server that has +150,000 active players, then proceed to bullshit everyone in a convention that nobody plays it and has that whole "you think you want it but you don't." They will purposely fuck it up and be smug about how right they are.

im not a NEET since 2016
but im thinking about going on welfare when classic releases
any tips to get fired?

>MOBAs are 3-4 main spell buttons
>and that’s ok
>WoW is a 3-4 solid main spell rotation
>somehow that’s bad
Anyways still probably the best MMO on the market still, with so many things to do, especially if you’re new to it. Even with all the hate around it.

>the WoW addicts who, after a decade and a half, still hold their WoW characters as their biggest accomplishment will try to relive their glory teenage years by installing nu blizz WoW "classic"
>25% of them will unironically suicide when they figure out that's not how it works
We should have a suicide hotline stickied to Yea Forums when it releases

You are right but also projecting.
The deal is really simple: what people want is not exactly classic WoW, they want a game with its mindset, the game which was created with gamers in mind. Vanilla WoW is the closest MMORPG you'll ever get to this, so you have to settle with this option or quit the genre because everything else is just shit.

Yes there is no doubt nostalgia plays a factor in this and the old days were different, but you ignore a little bit of detail here: the bar in the recent years has been so damn low even the biggest casual fuck already noticed that something is not right. There is a huge as fuck demand for this market and the modern developers simply can't deliver. There is a reason why so many people played private servers, its really simple: vanilla WoW is a better game, because it was created with a completely different mindset than BfA for example. The very moment you start a character you can feel the difference. That "you think you do but you don't" is actually a pretty clever phrase, because its also true. People whine what they want, but what they get without working towards it it gets a lot less interesting.
For example: Verigan's Fist questline. You have to do a lot of shit towards it but when you get it you feel good about it. If you got this from simply speaking to an npc in the cathedral it would completely lose its charm. Even if you are hardwired into thinking that you want to get as powerful as quickly as possible, but you ignore the journey, then you don't understand why you didn't enjoy getting that item when it was shat into your mouth.

Also there will be people who won't be satisfied with classic since its not gonna be a time machine, but its fucking impossible to please every single person. There will be also a lot of people who will enjoy it.

Attached: unjust.jpg (998x1374, 405K)

Posting about Allods Online again, does anyone still play or have you played recently? Is it worth to go back to play?

FFXI/v/

>it'll be the only good MMO on the market
You're looking at 500-700 hours of gametime with absolutely no replayability beyond that.
And those glorious hours are filled with
- literally 1 button that you constantly mash, as opposed to 3 buttons in the retail version right now
- shitty gear management
- obligations to grind a shitton of reagents to be able to raid
- raids consist of "buff up, then mash 1 button" with 2/3 of the classes excluded from it due to the balance issues
- no QoL whatsoever, this will not be accepted in 2019 as it were in 2006
- boring+easy but long content

The only worthy thing you can do in classic is pvp, but wow pvp is speshul and pretty autistic, most people won't even bother with it to begin with.

Also
>change anything
>most vocal part that awaits classic will be ass blasted and result in a flop
>change nothing
>most active part of the playerbase (aka newcomers, wraithbabies, catababies, etc) will be ass blasted and result in a flop
Fighting a lost war from the start

>the sandbox mmos are dead
>no more completely player ran economy
>no more creating your own fun and experiences with your friends just recycling the same skinnerbox """"content"""" everyday
>no more open world PVP that actually felt like you had something at stake
>no more forming legitimate rivalries, ganking or griefing

Just the same recycled PVE queue mmos over and over. RIP archeage and eve

The Classic crowd is not ff14 crowd, ff14 will have 0 impact on Classic. Most Wow people that get into ff14 or ESO quit after a while. Hell, I'm a ff14 player and I'm more interested into Classic than Shadowbringers. People are overestimating how many people play ff14, it has no more than 800k active players at its best.

It’s just straight up a worse WoTLK clone and last I played it (which I guess was a long time ago), it was full of P2W.
It still has probably one of the most unique settings and best worldbuildings out of any MMOs, though.

Does Asmongold even play WoW anymore? All he does on stream is AFK in a random spot and watch youtube videos or play other games on a second monitor.

He's a classic example of a piece of ass overtaking his life, I expect nothing of him anymore.

+10 INT

I never played Archeage, but did play EVE.

I heard Archage was fucked by bots in housing market or some retarded shit. EVE has bot problems but it's doesn't really ruin the game, just contributes to some inflation.

What was Archeage really like, and how is it now?

I remember it being very P2W in both PVE/PVP, I figured I might as well give it a reinstall to check it out.

You have to play EVE before its dead. It's an autistic kind of MMO but it's the last dinosaur that symbolizes the end of the Era. Truly unique and free MMO. But it's dying and won't last longDo yourself a favor, dedicate at least a month and play it. Because games like this will never be made.

It wont flop, but Blizzard aren't expecting it to be a hugely profitable game. It was strangely absent in their 2018 financial report when discussing their 2019 predictions, while this means it's likely not going to be infected with microtransactions and token bullshit it'll likely not have huge content updates (make of that what you will) like their other games get.

Problem with eve is there is no progression. Once you have the ship you want to have- thats it. There is no reason to keep playing. You can make money but that money has no use without a goal

I believe is gonna die in year or something like that.
I bet SHB will flop terribly.
Cause their release date is too close to WoW Classic.
And believe me - EVERYBODY would play classic. Like it is the most important release of the fucking decade

Just image Yoshi's face when he will see the numbers! Like, huh, i believe he'll gonna kill himself

And plus SE doing pretty fucking bad, they don't have any successful and profitable IPs.
KH3 floped
Left Alive flopped hard
Tomb Rider flopped.

Only XIV was profitable, but they gonna cut the costs for more earnings and anyway SHB gonna flop cause of WoW Classic

Attached: 1479076763814.png (550x627, 98K)

>I bet SHB will flop terribly.
Yoshi's fanbase is far too addicted for that to even be a realistic possibility.

>money has no use without a goal
That how sandboxes work.In this case, make your goal to go kill someone with that ship, and you'll lose it fast enough and have to get another. It's not like you get 1 ship and your done. That ship is gunna die if you pvp, and you should pvp. Progression can be actual game knowledge and mechanics. Knowing your opponent, what way the ship their flying is likely fit, knowing if you can engage it with your ship and stand a chance, knowing HOW to engage it. There's plenty of progression in EVE just not in the tradition sense.

SHB will do fine numbers wise because the Wow playerbase and FF14 playerbase don't overlap. 90% of ff14 players just glamslut and afk and they'll stay loyal to the game as long as cute emotes, mounts and glam gets introduced periodically.
I would really, really love it if Classic succeeded and maybe they start developing new content for it. Why? Because the journey was the game, gear mattered, everything required an investment.

...

Lots of things happened to destroy the game, bots definitely helped but the devs made some bad decisions to completely fuck the economy. But players would also drop off because the game was really competitive and full of griefing. It was pretty much the community interaction and politics of EVE though with more traditional WoW style gameplay. Best MMO experience I ever had and unfortunately it seems like nothing like it will ever be made

>Spend 2 hours jumping around null-sec and low-sec zones
>Not a peep from anyone
>No one even appears on the list
>Go into war zones and the second I jump in people jump out.
>After an entire day of going out and looking for a fight- even knowing full well I'd get destroyed
>Nothing
>Nothing, until I run into a gate camp that blows my little frigate up before I even know whats going on.

No sir, I'll stick to a game that has real PVP if thats what im after.

Attached: 1285894566364.jpg (600x455, 40K)

Poor retarded sandbox baby

Anything XIV related has basically no chance of flopping. The erp and glamourfags alone can carry the game.

I just watched a video about it out of curiosity. There’s been a lot of cool new updates but it’s pretty dead and they give out pretty much everything for free.
Wasted potential. That game had such an interesting setting and stuff, it’s like the world mattered to me the way Warcraft’s does.

MMOs will never be good because datamining, RMT, and botting trivializes every MMO.

>ESO is garbage
It's unironically second best MMO currently on the market with first being EVE.
And before you take it the wrong way, I'm not praising ESO, the entire fucking market is just such a fucking pile of shit that there's literally only one good game and the second best is a mediocre product.

>SE doing pretty fucking bad, they don't have any successful and profitable IPs.
Actually, they are making bank from all the gachashit they keep shitting out.

RMT and botting is kinda destroying the economy in FF14, yes. You've got RMT bots in big cities flooding the shout chat and the devs have done nothing about it for years.
>It's unironically second best MMO currently on the market
Can you expand on that? I've gone through the main story, Summerset and Morrowind, even got decent beginner gear, but my interest just goes away after a while. I haven't tried endgame pve though.

Any idea what the current state of Albion is?

You must be in the wrong low-sec systems, because there's plenty of PvP to be had around Faction Warfare hotspots. Use your intel tools, in game map and dotlan, to find active/recently active systems.

>Nothing, until I run into a gate camp that blows my little frigate up before I even know whats going on.
Burn back to gate and jump back through, use intel tools like maps to try to scout out camps, learn often camped gates and find routes around. People don't just camp random gates, it's usually the same high traffic gate over and over that noobs like you who don't learn fall victim to.

Don't blame your inability to learn and adapt on the game. However if you wish to stop playing realizing that you're just not up for that task, that's fine, but don't for a second blame the game.

This dude knows what's up.

Is there any other genre of video games that have botting? I don't mean like aimbots like FPS games, I mean full on botting automating everything you do from level 1 to level cap.

Imagine writing this much and not knowing what you're talking about. Sad.

Is it? I haven't played since launch did they ever fix...

>Only 5 buttons to press, 10 later on when you get a second weapon.
>No cool down on any of said buttons.
>If you don't use a cookie cutter build, you do no damage
>Bow users one shotting you from stealth in Cyrodil
>Korean grind levels of play before you can compete with anyone.
>Costing money to use fast travel.
>healers being nearly unkillable gods unless you manage to burst them down before they know whats happening.
>All the classes being mary sue chosen ones
>No real auction houses.
>Crafting mats going into your main inventory unless you pay
>Devs thinking solo questing should be the main form of content

There are a lot of wowfugees right now.
Yeah, but SE gonna cut the costs for more live profit and a lot of wowfugees gonna leave the game for classic.

So game will underperform with only glumslut auditory

Just check out this selling point with Viera race.
God, this is so bad. Much worse than WoWs new races.
Because WoW is doing pretty fucking well and show us TWO cool new races, that forced SE to do this ugly male power fantasy shit.
WoW's new races looks cool, have some lingering story background and deep lore, we already saw their society and know how do they live.
While XIV's new race just... an out of season april fools joke.

It outdid even Nomura's expectations.

Mmo's are all the same and that's why the genre is dying

>There are a lot of wowfugees right now.
Active players when BFA launched - 627,000
Active players in January - 608,000

Everyone keeps mentioning these alleged Wowfugees but the player number did not increase. I mean, look at the savage clear rates. On my server (Omega EU), not even 1% of players cleared the savage tier.

From a question and answer panel:

>"Hey YoshiP, I love FFXIV, but it's hard to keep playing your game (because of the lack of content) and now I'm taking a break here. Sorry for asking this but is there a way or a reason to keep playing? or anything that can you teach me how to keep my motivation for playing your game?" - A player asking Yoshida during Gamescom

>Yoshida (Director of FFXIV): "It's alright not to play it everyday. Since it's just a game, you can stop forcing yourself if it's hard on you to keep that up. Rather, it'll just pile up unnecessary stress if you limit yourself into playing just that one game since there are so many other games out there. So, do come back and play it to your heart's content when the major patch kicks in, then stop it to play other games before you got burnt out, and then come back for another major patch. This will actually make me happier, and in the end, I think this is the best solution I can answer for keeping your motivation up for the game."

It's a meme. Lead Developer said this phrase in interview in meaning that he didn't want to force people play his game.

It's a meme. The director, Yoshi P, simply respects others' time. It does not force you to play every day by dangling daily required items to progress. There are incentives to play every day, but nothing is ever required, making you be at loss if you choose to take breaks. The content is there to play and enjoy, not to have fun by endlessly progressing

I don't know about numbers, but I am someone who quite wow and now is playing ff14. Do I not exist?

> Active players when BFA launched - 627,000
Actually it's much lower.

>WHAT IS YOUR GOAL IN SAID MMO

Not much, I'm pretty casual but I like mmos

Interesting. His explanation aside, does that translate into the game? When I used to play WoW (quit after Hellfire Citadel, but before Legion), it felt like I -had- to log in daily so I wouldn't lose momentum / progression. Is it the same for FFXIV?

One way you can tell a MMOs popularity is by checking the unique poster count on /vg/

FFXIV is outpacing WoW daily on this.

If I do this what am I actually in for? I see a lot of "it only gets fun at end game" "Youll only play maybe 5 hours a week"

with the way the game is designed, there's tons of catch up mechanics involved for people that take extended breaks and you never need best in slot gear to clear the hardest content since crafted gear you can craft or buy from the auction house is more than enough.

>play on a small server
>seeing new and old players everywhere
>friendslist has more people than ever all logged on at once
>a big patch didnt even drop recently
Its fucking weird. SHB is still so many months away

Attached: 1551546082235.jpg (385x688, 57K)

I think the biggest reason why people dissatisfied with BfA haven't gone to FFXIV en masse is the races, they either look generic or a parody. While graphically WoW is terrible atleast it's stylised to the point where it's unique and attractive, I've never seen a picture of FFXIV and thought to myself I WANT to be playing that.

You're one dude, and as most people that came from Wow, you're gonna quit soon enough. The thing is, people keep moaning about this huge number of Wowfugees getting into the game while in reality there's not a lot of them in the game. In fact, according to the numbers I posted, there's no evidence that Wowfugees had any impact on the number of active players at all.
You can catch up in ff14 very quickly because there's really no gear progression or anything. You do normal raids, which are easy af, and you get gear, that's it. Really, there's literally 3 steps for gear - buy it for tomes from dungeons, do 4 normal raids, do savage raids. Sure you don't have to login but that's because there's nothing to log in for.

> Is it the same for FFXIV?
No. There are a lot fo shit to do, but it's not mandatory.
It's not like daily quests and artifact power grind.
You can do shit and it would be rewarded, but if you skip it then later you still can play normally.

there's a free trial nigga. you be the judge. just keep in mind that it's like every themepark MMO in existence that has a slow beginning.

Yes, Wow at its worst has at least 5 times more active players than ff14 at its decent.

>Yeah, but SE gonna cut the costs
We've been hearing that shit for years, alongside the "less content" meme, and it's still never been true.

sad

Attached: 1.jpg (630x572, 120K)

Friendly reminders that Ultimate fights were the best thing to be added to the game and were the one thing that FFXIV was missing.
>content that is always relevant because the rewards will always be sought after and it can never be desynced
>since it’s always relevant midcore raid groups won’t break up between expansion cycles due to lack of raid content like they did in HW and ARR pre expansions
>meaningful glamour and titles that actually allow you to flex on people in main cities like you’re back in 2005 Orgrimmar which will then force more people into wanting to try it out
>fights are so complex and demanding that a clear on the fight is enough to earn your way into just about any raid group without messing around with FFlogs shenanigans

I disagree. I came to game only because of DRK armor set.

Attached: 1441519142885.jpg (1920x1080, 594K)

It's content for like 1% of the Western playerbase. It's questionable if the devs will deem it important enough to invest time in in the future.

I'm the opposite, I don't play WoW because every race looks bad and the gear is just painted assets.

Sadly not.

The only huge grind is leveling to end-game, but that's a big chore for me in every single MMO.

Pretty much every MMO with fast travel charges you in-game money for it, same here and it costs almost fucking nothing, literally nothing if you go to the fast travel point since you can use them to travel for free.

Again, I don't know shit about PvP, sorry.
>All the classes being mary sue chosen ones
You mean all player characters being the chosen one? Sadly not, and it's a big plague of most modern MMO shit.
>No real auction houses
It's different from other games, it's not bad, it's not good but it makes the player market more interesting imo.
>Crafting mats going into your main inventory unless you pay
Sadly not, Zenimax are absolute fucking jews.
>Devs thinking solo questing should be the main form of content
It's not, literally all content that matters nowadays in any way are dungeons and raids.

I mostly just enjoy the end-game, it's usually well done content, also.

As I said before, it's absolutely mediocre but it's nowhere near being garbage.
The reason why I'm claiming that it's the second best is very simple: WoW and GW2 are a joke at this point and FF14 isn't worth the monthly money (although I still find it pretty nice).
EVE is still the only good MMO.

Gonna say 7.9 on Classic because it will suffer from push back The NO CHANGES crowd and it will be too hard for the average game journalists to appreciate .
FFXIV Shadowbringers will probably get a higher score than Stormblood because most game journalists are just reading the back of the box for features and Shadowbringers looks like it’ll have way more feature with 2-3 jobs and 2 races over 2 new jobs and zero races from Stormblood.

>new races are marketed as a main feature of BFA
>they are not included in the game at BFA's launch
>blizzcon mount is released early, bundled with SIX MONTHS of game time for $77.94 in September
>faction capes are included with the $50 blizzcon tickets instead of the mount (blizzcon is an event where people pay money to see advertisements)
>"Whomper" cash shop battle pet is announced at blizzcon in November for $10
>it is advertised at blizzcon that 100% of the profits made from Whomper sales will go to charity
>in reality, only Whomper purchases made before the end of December go to charity, blizzard keeps the rest
>the "See You Later" mount/b-pet/mog bundle is added to the cash shop in December for $49.95
>after the sale of this bundle ended, the digital items included in the bundle were removed from the cash shop
>this was an attempt to create artificial scarcity to boost the sales of this bundle
>"vulpine familiar" cash shop mount is released in the same month for $25
>this mount seems to be designed specifically to appeal to furries
>"Hogrus", another cash shop mount, is released only 1 month later in January for $25
>the new races are added about six months after release when the bundled game time everyone bought with the blizzcon mount is about to run out in order to keep them subbed

>It's not like daily quests and artifact power grind.
I quit before Legion, but daily grinding got to me specially because I was beyond unironically hurt by how bad WoD raped the lore. I shared earlier this week that I didn't play any FF after IX, and someone told me that FFXIV has very good lore, and that it's worth playing each expansion as if it were an episodic Final Fantasy console game. Would any of you (as in, both who replied, and whoever else reads) recommend it under such perspective?

PvP sandbox MMOs are doomed to fail.

>not wanting to play autism simulator
What, you don't have autism or something? You can't be here

Play maplestory 1

Leveling and going through the story is the best part of ff14, yes. If you're gonna play it for the story and an occasional heroic level fight, sure, it's worth it. However, as with every story, there are some bad spots and cliches. I don't think the story is anything groundbreaking, but it's good. As I've stated before, on Western servers only about 5% of players do endgame pve content, most players just try to dress cute and decorate their houses.

>most players just try to dress cute and decorate their houses.
only on balmung/mateus servers actually. majority of other NA servers are just playing the game for the sake of content or story. they're even splitting off balmung/mateus to its own roleplaying focused datacenter in april.

> and someone told me that FFXIV has very good lore
it's weeb lore. If you are OK with weeb lore - than it's good.
> and that it's worth playing each expansion as if it were an episodic Final Fantasy console game
Actually you are forced to play all expansions because all content gated behind main scenario quests and story is pretty OK, even if you are not weeb.
> recommend it under such perspective?
Hm, probably.
I recommend you try free trial.
But be aware that 1-50 level story and 1-50 level gameplay is the worst part and later well be better

But expect shitton of dialogs and cutscenes. Some of them are good, but some of them fucking pointless. Like in any weeb shit game.

Attached: 1527704767151.png (1920x1080, 1.78M)

>majority of other NA servers are just playing the game for the sake of content
And you're basing that assumption on what? Pic related shows savage clear rates per server (the rightmost column). Not even half of players are doing Eureka.

Attached: 51603db1.png (830x1451, 65K)

> on Western servers only about 5% of players do endgame pve content
Actually this shit similar to WoW and ESO.
There are too only 5-10% of playerbase plays hardcore PVE

Attached: 1517463511917.jpg (419x281, 39K)

based on what I see in-game. party finder on primal is full of ex primals, savage, trial, etc. even eureka in anemos, pagos, pyros, and hydratos are full zones. the only servers that are more focused on roleplaying/dressup rather than content are balmung/mateus. hence why they have the lowest clear rates for everything and it's almost impossible to PF stuff there that's not casual content like dungeons.

Attached: balmung and mateus.jpg (1302x924, 271K)

Define full. On EU when the expansion hit the highest amount of parties I saw in PF was about 120. Now, if Chaos has about 80k active players, you can't really say the PF is 'full' because there's not even 10% of active players in it. It's the same with eureka. Sure, you will see a dozen of full instances, but that's like 1500 people, compared to 80 or 100k of active players on the data center.

>themepark baby thinks what he is experiencing is fun and not a carefully crafted formula to trick your brain into thinking its having fun

I can't speak for EU, I play on NA. They're two different regions/datacenters.

ffxiv is fucking garbage and its bizarre that people are so lacking in taste that its considered one of the best mmos out

Well, go to your PF now and tell me how many parties are in it.

I'm not home right now, I'm on my phone. But I bet it's not a lot right now since its only 11am, peak times aren't until 7-10pm

EU is dead in FFXIV according to census if you compare it to NA/JP numbers. It's also going to become more dead after the Chaos/Light split.

But according to the data I posted, NA servers don't really have much higher savage clear rates, they're almost the same.

cleared is different from prog, NA has a lot more progging going on than EU does due to the sheer amount of players NA has compared to EU.

> census

At least 80k active players on the data center.

XIV

As you age probably this is the best type of solution. The time when you come home from work is very narrow if you count in relaxing too. The raid schedules what I had in WoW are manageable but still there is a lot of things you have to do which is not enjoyable and it falls into the "it gets better after XY hours"

Also if you log in to do daily chores instead of enjoying the game your game already failed as a video game since its not there for entertainment, its a second job. And a shitty one to top that.

i do, ill probably quit after 1-2 months, dailies are burning me out

You're partly right, but it's a double edged sword because if there's no to little investment, there's no sense of accomplishment. When the new ff14 expansion hits, you can be done with the content quickly, save for the savage raids which might take a week or two to clear.

You missed out if you didn't play ESO at launch. 99% of console comrades dont grasp the basics of MMOs and it really showed.

"Play the patch/expansion" mentality from devs stops this from being even close to an achievable reality.

Are you sure, user? I've never played final fantasy. You play it on console?

Imagine playing dungeon tool MMOS in 2019, sad.
No wonder the genre died.

I wish more games did crafting like 14 does, where you need to toil and take care to get high quality items lest you break your materials

FFXIV fags

Quick question.

Am I yet able to level in XIV with my SO, without constantly being split up to do MSQ shit and all the other instanced stuff?

Are starting locations still based off your starting job?

Because this shit has stopped me from playing XIV for years.

Buy a story skip

All decent mmo's are sub based, none of the bad mmo's are sub based.
Being a sub based mmo doesn't make it good, but it's very clear if you understand what makes mmo's (it's all about the end-game content little man) that this is a service that simply needs being sub based to by the definition of the genre.
Be free to throw me a one-liner about how you are not getting that at all.

Attached: _85730600_monkey2.jpg (660x660, 62K)

Yeah but in the end you have your macros and rng plays a role if you craft fails. Gearing crafters with scrip gear is very tedious and you basically need to be an omnicrafter to avoid spending a fortune on materials. And RMT and bots are ruining the economy so all in all crafting is not worth it imo.

A what?

the absolute state

Pretty much. It also has the best job, BLM. What other games have BLM?
That's what I thought.

What is a destro Warlock?

well in vanilla time investment was a positive thing.
I never felt ever that Oh shit I must do this crap to achieve this even once, while in tbc and wotlk dailies were simply unpleasant. Yes the mindset can make difference too, but at the end if you do the same crap over and over again so many times, its a flawed game design.
This thing is just a wall to keep you playing, its locking you out of content with an artific way. Blizzard knew this very well that its the perfect formula if you want to keep the players busy without releasing more mayor content. Its also why mobile games have this kind of content. Its a lot easier to do and encourages buying boosts so you can have your XY thing finished quickly.

Lets not forget this is the point when Tigole's fuckery and the "bored 1% or population" comes in with TBC. Just because a few pissbottle autists run out of content because they don't do anything besides playing the game literally, it doesn't mean that the whole game should be built around them and make unenjoyable daily chores so they can keep their dopamine administered. When I come home and start a game I don't want to be teleported to a chinese mobile factory where I'm not even paid but I must pay to be there.

A non-BLM class stuck in a bad game.

No, but i play wit gamepad on pc.
Many people play with gamepad plus PS4 and PC players are on the same servers, so if it supports crossplay with PC than it should be fine.

Skips the story content and unlocks everything for you. So you level up doing actual content instead of slogging through the god awful story

Basically if you want a good MMO but don't give a fuck about JRPG stories. Buy a story skip potion

This. I'm not even going to be there for WoW, I don't give a shit about it mechanically. I'm going there because everyone else who is still on the MMO bus after the last stop is going to be there too. A million jaded NEETs.

Well the thing is, to me, it's way more fun when you have a lot of steps of progression, get this gear, do this, grind a bit of this, etc. Today, if we take ff14 as an example, you do daily dungeons, get gear for currency, do normal raids, get gear, do savage (mythic), that's it. Everything literally falls in your lap, there's no overworld action, quests are forgettable, guilds are non existent for doing content, people just use them to socialize. You enter raids with a click of a butten, you don't have to earn anything to get in, etc.
Story and leveling is the only decent thing this game offers. If you're gonna play it for pve content, I hope you like doing the same 4 fights for months at a time. I mean, if you don't want to explore and immerse yourself in the world, why even play the freaking game. Also FF14 introduced the story skip relatively recently while Wow has had it for years and has given it for free with every expansion.

One of the main reasons I can't bring myself to try WoW again is because I just don't like the way any of the races look, nor any of the gear, or any of the classes. That, piled on top of the gameplay still looking like ass and the lore being many, many years of constantly escalating complete nonsense that I can't even begin to care about. It's one of those games I can honestly say without hesitation that I have absolutely no interest in playing.

Hows my new glamour fags

You pay cash money yeah and its a compromise more than terrible game design. Final Fantasy is a JRPG and people who love JRPGs LOVE the story to the game. But if you don't give a fuck about the story and want a good MMO then its chore. Unfortunately, Final Fantasy is also the best MMO on the market right now.

Last I looked it was 15 bucks or so for the potion. And it doesn't come with any kind of auto leveling so you still have to go into the world and do stuff. I'd honestly reccomend playing to level or 20 before using it because the game teaches you a lot of stuff that isn't super intuitive otherwise.

This game's actually pretty good.

Explain this to me. These are the kind of clowns who cry about there being no content.
1-50 is comfy as shit. Just take it easy.

Every other MMO is filled with jew shit. Final Fantasy is completely average, but manages to be the best MMO on the market but not having greedy jewish garbage like all the other major MMOs.

for a mobile game, yeah. Even with the automated stuff, I don't have time to play. Even on bluestacks, it still requires a lot of attention.
what would be the end goal though? getting better gear? for what purpose. PVP? it's clunky with the mobile controls, even on bluestacks.
Being social sucks too because typing in this game is abysmal. Having a good guild helps I guess. required discord(or any other comms) to be able to communicate properly.

What should I do next on XIV? I have the Ozma mount already. At the moment I'm just capping tomes in Pyros and playing mahjong. I don't even know why I cap tomes I don't need them. I thought about just making some money but with probably no new recipes coming out before the next expansion and already having enough to do whatever I want I can't find the motivation.

That is essentially what Guild Wars 2 is right now.
>giant launch and profit in the first release date
>NCsoft just take the money and funnel it to Wild Star
>Neo Anet has tiny amount of money and spend on shit that ruins the game
>expansion happen and the profit it got went into another side project that Neo Anet disclose from NCsoft
>Guild Wars 2 continues to give out shit content because all the money is basically going towards the side project
>2019
>Wildstar ded
>NCsoft got control of Neo Anet, fired a 1/3 of them, and kill the side project
Imagine if they would have actually use all those profit money on Guild Wars 2 instead of all these project that end up being a waste and gone forever. The game is still utterly shit.

That's the sad part. In the meantime, pls look forward to more Eureka.
>SJW narritive
FF14s new terms of conduct do the same. Also, the vast majority of players support SJW special snowflake crap. Never played GW2 or BDO though but from what I know they are quite bad.
I'm not a Wow player so I don't understand why Wow players are so mad, it's hard for me to imagine that someone would play FF14 coming from a game that has normal, heroic, mythic, mythic +, world bosses, reputations, kinda functional pvp, etc. And people who complain there's nothing to do in Wow unironically think FF14 is better in that regard.

Did you read the original post I made about my issues with XIV

I always play MMOs as a pair, and FXIV goes out of its way in the MSQ to segregate and force us into instanced scenarios.

I don't *WANT* to skip the MSQ, but my want to play an MMO with another person outweighs this, which is why skipping the story sounds like a good compromise for me.

Too tall

Attached: 1385541254393.jpg (560x560, 306K)

Probably thinking of BDO

some p99 but mostly eq2 right now

"Wow refugees" as they calm them are a thing in XIV right now as folks are leaving WoW en masse due to the BFA blunder. In Legion, WoW was easily a better game than XIV but in its current state? It cant even hold a candle and the hemorrhaging player base if proof of that

Attached: 1386006856033.gif (301x214, 884K)

>Suddenly reminded that EQ2 actually released.

>- literally 1 button that you constantly mash, as opposed to 3 buttons in the retail version right now
i can only laugh at you

>Never played GW2 or BDO though but from what I know they are quite bad.
Imagine giving your entire IP to a fat woman that spend her time writing shit novels that no one reads. Now imagine her making her pet race a mary sue race and her minions (who became transgender during this period) shoving tumblr tier stuff in the story left and right. Now imagine all the content update are created around this. Now imagine all the other content completely ignore because it doesn't show off her story. GW 2 had years of this shit. Now imagine replacing that fat woman with another SJW writer, who turn Path of Fire's main villain into ANGRY RAGING MAN. Everything about it was utterly shit.

What does your character choice and waifufags have got to do with anything? Sounds to me like you're just an insecure faggot.

>Love MMO dungeons
>Love MMO trinity
>Hate MMO tab targeting + hot key based gameplay

Are there any action games but with MMO structure? Every action MMO I've tried turns out to be same old MMO horse shit but instead of auto attacking you have to spam an attack button (So much action!!) and Destiny is the only thing I've found that is MMO dungeons but fun

Attached: 1283456101116.jpg (420x438, 17K)

>"Wow refugees" as they calm them are a thing in XIV right now as folks are leaving WoW en masse due to the BFA blunder.

This has always been a bad thing for XIV. XIV got a massive influx of shitters during Warlords.

>"Wow refugees" as they calm them are a thing in XIV right now
They're not, as I posted before in the thread, when BFA launched ff14 had 680k active players while in January it had 610k. There are no Wowfugees.
Okay that's next level SJW shit I'll give you that, but FF14 has its own problems regarding that, mainly the playerbase being the problem, not the devs.

>destiney
>MMO dungeon

What?

Unit Pyxicephalus deployed.
Stand by for amphibian insertion.

Attached: gw2 frog.png (2543x2338, 595K)

Let me guess you're a /xivg/ poster who earnestly believes 99% of the XIV population are secretly trannies conspiring on a discord right a this very moment?

>XIV got a massive influx of shitters during Warlords.
You mean new content leads to new players coming in to try their luck with it.

The Strikes in Destiny are basically MMO dungeons but in shooter form.

Are we going to have the same argument I had with another guy? A pitiful percentage of the players of FF14 does endgame pve content. That's a measurable fact. In fact, while you're mentioning 99%, 99% of players on my server didn't clear the current savage tier.

that lalafell in the background is cute and more interesting than your character

>A pitiful percentage of the players of FF14 does endgame pve content
That's the case for every mmo out there. Hardcore raiders were always a minority.

Yes this is true of almost every mmo. Folks dont raid

The playerbase in GW2 consist of 3 cagtories. The elitist Raider that will never let anyone in their circle and consist of like few dozen players, people that logs in only for the Living World story and log off, and the causal base, which are all tumblr-tier hug box that will ignore or downvote you if you say anything negative about the game. I'll put this in perpective: Yea Forums is the only place where you can criticize how shit Guild Wars 2 is without getting banned. That is how bad it is.

Oh and image related, she was meant to be the hot girl for the new players to masturbate to, until they BLACKED her in a one night stand and force her son to be our friend.

Attached: Eir-Stegalkin-Guild-Wars-2.jpg (500x1072, 99K)

oh ok but destiny doesnt have the trinity going on right? or do you even care in destiny's case

XIV is the game that burned me the worst because it has so much potential that is just completely wasted. If there were any real character progression or gear choice and any real content outside of 4 bosses then it'd be enough for me to resub, but the XIV dev team has been actively cutting down on player choices and interesting gearing since shortly after 2.0. They've done everything in their power to dumb the game down and it wasn't complicated to begin with.
>oh shit, people are too dumb to use the antidote we gave them for the main story quest that poisons you. Better neuter that poison and make sure nothing in the game needs to be cured with items
>huh, people can't seem to interrupt the healers in sastasha. better get rid of those
>oh no people are bitching about pharos sirius. Let's never make a dungeon this """hard""" again.
>good tanks are using str accessories or crafted with melds? better put a stop to that
>players can mess up by getting too much accuracy? better get rid of that too

This is a true story. I quit though

Attached: RS.png (240x30, 1K)

It doesn't have the trinity but depending on which spec you play, you can be more damage, defense or support oriented. Destiny's all I really have now until I find something better.

accuracy was a bad mechanic though, it ruined Monks, Ninjas, and Machinists when it was still in. Missing weaponskills = missing procs/buffs = significantly lower dps

But you don't even have to be hardcore in any sense of the word to be doing savage raids in FF14.
Sounds a lot like FF14.
The devs know that their playerbase mainly consists of glamsluts so why would they spend time developing other types of content? They're just doing what the playerbase wants. Raiders are a miniscule minority and if they removed savage raiding completely they'd barely feel the financial hit from the lost subs. They'd probably easily compensate for it with another cute store mount.

Except oldschool mmos were exactly that. A second life in a fantasy setting. It's why things got so crazy there, with clan wars, drama, alliances and betrayals. People got invested and took their lives seriously. Then WoW happened, casualization, reaching a wider audience and MMO died as a genre, replaced with themepark convenience shit that just takes you on a ride and then lets you off, sprinkling lootboxes and skinnerboxes occasionally to keep in you in the loop longer. Calling something that had occurred in the past and is clearly document "jaded and unrealistic" is both stupid and also outs you as a fucking zoomer child that has no idea what it's talking about.

Attached: have you ever been.png (272x285, 78K)

im glad it did. theres not a whole lot of people running around the lower level ares but these zones have been pretty fun so i dont mind

more like themepark MMOs stops this from happening, but sandbox MMOs encourage it because if you don't live your life in the game you get left behind or destroyed.

Them releasing Blackrock Foundry the same day as Heavensward totally killed FF14, right?

Attached: f098e85050-1486729885525.jpg (640x559, 67K)

the later 2 floors of every savage raid is for hardcore people, hence why you need a static and learn how to optimize.

convince one of your co-workers to let you fuck her in the main office

sandbox mmos were like that but now they're dying/dead/extinct

I play ffxiv
I'm ashamed
But I have fun
Wow days are over

I's just funny seeing all those retards in the thread giving "LE BIG TRUTH XD" replies to that absolutely stupid and uninformed post because they were too young to have lived in a time when all mmo games weren't themepark shit.

Accuracy doesn't disproportionately affect monk/ninja/machinist. Everyone gets fucked over by a miss. That's the point though. Accuracy is a stat that comes into play during gearing, not during combat. It's the only reason to ever have more than one piece of gear for a given slot in XIV, because when you get an upgrade that has no accuracy you might need to shuffle gear around.
It's not even the biggest problem with XIV though, just emblematic of it. The biggest problem with XIV is that even though it's an MMO*RPG* there are no real gearing choices and your gear basically doesn't matter. That means there's no actual reason to go out and do shit. The second biggest problem is the hard gear wipe that happens every raid patch. By replacing raid gear with higher ilvl, easily-obtained crafted stuff, they effectively remove the incentive to continue raiding after you've killed the final boss the first time. What's the point of getting "best in slot" if you're throwing it all in the trash literally an hour after the patch hits? It'd be better if that crafted stuff was removed and you upgraded from your old raid gear by getting new raid drops.

Doesn't ESO have a sub option?

Yes starting locations are based off your job but by level 15 that becomes irrelevant and you can reach 15 in an hour. MSQ is full of instanced fights but dungeons and shit can be done with a friend.

There really aren't that many players who do savage in NA/EU. Even without balmung there aren't many clears of the tier at all. Aether has around 2.2k, Primal has around 2k clears. Crystal has like 1k. That's not a lot. It sorta surprises me.

>been enjoying the quests and even liking the job questlines seeing different npc's some of which were quite charming and memorable despite the obvious game mechanic tutorial padding
>suddenly game switches into the "JOIN THIS INSTANCE TO CONTINUE THE STORYLINE"
>Instantly lose any desire to proceed
Fuck. It's like the game couldn't decide whether it wanted to be themepark or not.

High tier raids have always been 1% clear rate in mmos
It's why abandoning social features and fun creative content in favor of difficult raids is always dumb
It's why the ever quest model ruined mmos
It's why theme parks are always shit

That image does not mean what people assume, there's things to work towards for people that DO like to log in a lot as well. Challenges to overcome, or just social content like treasure hunt maps with the FC/farming mounts

I like that best in slot isn't needed and gearing is easy because you get to see the content faster and more people can get to do it. One major flaw with older MMOs was the gearing was a huge gate so you have to go do old shit nobody does or you got the entire fight down mechnically but wipe because of a numbers game.

>with a friend

Attached: WhyLive.jpg (567x437, 35K)

what are the bad mmos?

For anyone reading. Frogposter was being generous with its GW2 bullying. it's actually worse than described.

if anything ff14 wants me to subscribe because I just found a connect selling gametime cards for cheap.

That's because the post is fairly old and was made before the additional bullshit was added. The game never got better, it just kept getting worse.

Attached: GW 2 shill tries to escape.gif (323x226, 2M)

All a themepark has to do is make sure that there is stuff to do outside of raiding. Can still be pve content just something easier and less strict.

Dragon Quest X

That's what I was implying.

Alliance raid treasure maps would be sick in FFXIV if they combine it with the upcoming cross world visit feature.

It takes like fifteen minutes retard

It's not about that, it's about being forced to do shit with retards instead of enjoying the game at my own pace.

They're totally puggable if you're playing with non retards. I've been able to do it and I'm a dude with a full time job and not hardcore at all, you just watch a fucking 10 minute video guide, that's all.

>it's actually worse than described.
How so?

unironic pedophile

Dude, quit talking about Eureka like its good.

>abandoning dungeons completely
>multiple global droprate nerfs
>locking story content after it "expires" behind a paywall even if you have paid for all the games and expansions
>making the original game f2p and giving those that had bought it for full retail price on release absolutely nothing

that f2p part pissed me off so much especially when others were like "whatever is their game"

>The biggest problem with XIV is that even though it's an MMO*RPG* there are no real gearing choices and your gear basically doesn't matter.
RPG doesn't stand for Raid Playing Game. I enjoyed FFXI mostly because I avoided grinding for incremental tiers of gear.

Was the dealbreaker for me and I was one of those idiots that had prepurchased the game for three days prior access, so I paid even more than retail price. I've not been deceived by "hype" ever since.

Attached: Rog.jpg (199x277, 12K)

Yea even when path of fire was on the way i rememberred that shit and stayed away

Wait, this image isn't from Seinfeld, right?

If the story shit only cost say 50 gems which is like 10 gold I wouldn't be so pissed off about it but they are way too expensive

no

There is absolutely no excuse for what they have done with this, it's simply putting a tollbridge across a river that ought to be freely traversable. They could have made every piece of that limited story content available for activation from outposts and cities where it took place if you missed it, like the way you replay missions in GW 1.
>traversable is marked by autocorrect
What the fuck is wrong with this place?

it's from a FRIENDS episode where Phoebe works as a phone sales person and tries to sell staplers or something to a guy who's about to kill himself

They're pertinent to personalization and attachment, something almost integral to MMOs, no? I won't want to progress without some sense of attachment.

Maybe stop treating the character as an extension of yourself then and treat it as a doll you play with, you fucking egocentric cunt.

Only Themepark MMO worth playing right now is FFXIV.

Only Sandbox MMO worth playing right now is EVE.

Only Mobile MMO worth playing right now is Granblue.

>Themepark MMO worth playing right now is FFXIV

Wrong

Attached: 39dby2M.png (571x297, 500K)

Why would you play BFA over Shadowbringers?

The Gunblade class is finally going to fucking kill the game, mark my words.
The advent of Samurai and Dark Knight already made finding a party really fucking hard because 60% of the playerbase would play either of those as they were released, but a fucking gunblade?
Yup, that's going to be the entire playerbase.

>MMO"""RPG"""

>Only Mobile MMO worth playing right now is Granblue.

No, I'm not. Everquest 2 has a very high system requirement that would cost a person thousands of dollars just to play it on LOW. Compare to WoW, which was release at a similar date, it can run on potato. Guess which one will get pick up more.

What class you play user?

>The game is still utterly shit
It's a completely different game than it was at release and a much better one too.But holy shit if only they had a bigger team working on instead of having a skeleton crew and the rest working on now canceled unannounced projects.

idk where EQ2 touched you but get over it the game is fun and still has a pop playing it

>making the original game f2p and giving those that had bought it for full retail price on release absolutely nothing
F2P can't even sell or buy most of the shit in trading post. It's literally impossible to make any money and it's ridiculously restrictive when it comes to social features.

I know EQ2 is fun, it just fuck up the launch date and handed the mmo crowd to WoW because of this mistake.

Champions Online. Its F2P but most of the good costume pieces that let you create whatever you want, and freeform building, is behind a pay wall. Its your typical late 00s tab targeting action mmo.

Yeah, they hired a ponyfag in that year and she pretty much revamp the endgame. There is a lot more event and costume to do and get now. Tanks, healers, and DPS are legitimate for these content, now. I don't know how completely fucked is the Club is now, I stay the fuck away from there.

That picture is probably even older than that. That's just the upload date. I honestly can't remember the last time I played. Probably 2013 or so. It had little content in the end game aside from that one Angelic boss and I just found myself making new characters.

The Club was ERP Heaven even when I played, so I can't imagine what it's like now.

It is. If the queue is sub-100, just cancel it and instantly try to log in again, you'll almost certainly succeed.

SE literally killed it. XIV was originally the FFXI HD project, got yoinked because sooooomeone decided "your weapon is your class" was a good idea without even playtesting it.
The worst part is it's still profitable and they've been using the money to keep other things funded.

agents are great, probably the most options of any class for shit you can do but also the most complex in figuring out what you're doing since you can get access to almost every nano in the game
NTs are very useful for kiting, but can be pretty painful to play early on especially if you don't have shadowlands
MAs are probably the easiest and cheapest to do well with since you don't have to worry about finding or equiping weapons
really every class is pretty great, it just depends what you want to do

yea too bad it will never be finished

I'm convinced sandbox MMO is just a buzzword at this point, even if one comes out people will immediately identify the most efficient route of progression and claim it's a themepark regardless.

honestly i'm more looking forward to Squadron 42 at this point after seeing the vertical slice with all the acting, and that has a much larger chance at coming out nicely

ff14 is good enough for me
I only want one thing from MMOs.

How is that mmo? I remember the spoony guy shilling the fuck out of that mmo. Does he even play that?

fuck off Ralph

That comment legit makes me want to nuke this gay earth

Will kids mmos EVER make a come back?

Im surprised we havnt seen a fortnite mmo idea popup yet

no

Kids these day want instant gratification, so no they won't come back. Things like Fortnite and Unturned is a thing for kids, as well.

There really hasn't been a long lasting shooter mmo. Defiance just had a "reboot" but it is still trash and barren. Firefall or Global Agenda may have been the closest but goddamn do I still miss Tabula Rasa

bros I think I'll just play FFXIV until Lost Ark. there's nothing else to play, it sucks

>global agenda

Attached: d.jpg (1032x927, 71K)

Remember me, Yea Forums?

I legit had tons of fun with it until the grind got too repetitive.

Attached: trove.jpg (616x353, 119K)

I'm subbed to FFXIV and FFXI at the same time.

I play XI when I run out of things to do in XIV.

It works for me.

Attached: 1539655005018.png (624x734, 610K)

I'm considering resubbing to FFXIV, but I'm currently in Heavensward MSQ and it doesn't really feel like I was doing anything meaningful, just going from one interaction node to another, maybe a little one sided combat. When do I get to start doing MMO unique things? Things that would justify my sub? I was told things got better after the 100 fucking filler quests. Had a more compelling time figuring out how to level Cul. to 50 knowing nothing about advanced mechanics

I guess 99% of your playtime is XI then.

MSQ gets noticeably better from HW onward. Much less filler. How far in were you?

It's around a 50/50 split

Right after the pope flies away in his airship and you start helping bird people murder a tulpa of their god

Pantheon and Anarchy online soon brothers

Attached: 1536116013059.jpg (631x591, 36K)

Eh, play till the end of the HW MSQ and dump it if you're still not interested.

Blatant fetch quests more or less go away after ARR, so you've already passed the worst part.

>BFA rated a 3
blizzdrones on suicide watch
imagine wasting years grinding mounts and useless stuff like reps only for the game to die

Attached: 1528381706774.jpg (225x225, 18K)

It's not earth shattering but it's not awful either. But it's also gone all the way F2P while avoiding P2W, and it keeps getting significant monthly updates, so you could just try it out.

>Pantheon
Yes really hoping this turns out good
>Anarchy online
Just started what in the fuck is this control scheme lmao also can you run this in fullscreen windowed?

When is the fresh 2019 anarchy online server starting?

It's pretty standard once you get your UI set up, although some things like using items and managing fight/nano targets can take a bit to get used to
Fullscreen windowed can be enabled in the launcher settings, you can also install one of the UIs from rubi-ka.net/ndgui/ for a slightly less fucked experience

"sooner than you think"
there's supposed to be more info on it soon, probably either tomorrow or the day after

One day left, if you are into PvP then hop on this.

Will there be an EU server or is it fresh start for NA only?

I know it's not a MMORPG, but I still miss its glory days, lads.

I loved messing around with different skill and class combinations. And hunting for rare skills to capture in the wild.

Are there any non-trash, non-dead games with a similar system right now? I feel like nothing could replicate what GW1 had.

Attached: ackshyually it's a CORPG.jpg (1200x1698, 1.11M)

at least it has persistent lobbies unlike Diablo, Destiny, etc.

It'll just be one server, but AO was designed from the start to be playable on dialup connections with 800 ping. I'm not even sure where the current server is hosted, but nobody has any issues with it.

>2019
>they never made a harry potter mmo
It makes no sense, the series was just begging for one.

Attached: 1547847074148.jpg (396x474, 31K)

I'll just give it a try then.
Remember playing that when I was like 12 and had fun even though I was just messing around.

I'd rather have a Stargate mmo with instanced planets that you get to using the gate chevrons like .hack's keyword system

Go play it lad, it's still somewhat active on American servers at least. Kamadan is packed with people. Hell, even speedclear wikis still are getting updates as well as gwpvx wikis and there's even a website for price checking for trading that's still being updated. The game carries on, it will outlive GW 2.

Time to come back to Tibia

>The game carries on, it will outlive GW 2.
Unlikely

Tibia and Archage are still the only mmo's to this day who did pvp the right way.

Attached: 1520856825188.jpg (380x380, 34K)

Unless they close the servers when gw2 dies, it will. GW 1 had just recently received a pretty big update on top of their store selling a new version of GW, the "Complete" one.

It fucking hurts

Let me tell you a little reality to all mmo fans here. MMO's whenever good in the first place you would just very young when you played them. Play single player and gain good taste in video games.

Attached: 1551074221612.jpg (1080x1350, 192K)

You're wrong, are a fucking idiot and that woman is ugly as sin.

>wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars:_The_Complete_Collection
>it actually a thing
What the fuck?

I'm playing old school RuneScape

It's honestly a mind numbing grind but I'm just waiting for classic

>I'm just waiting for classic

Attached: 1539731106111.jpg (645x729, 22K)

This game might look dated but THIS is the only PvP experience that will be legit until WoW Classics is here.

>There are a lot of wowfugees right now.
There are a lot of twitchshitters right now since it's was free with twitch prime
Not wowrefugees

Hub based mmos are fucking trash

Times change, anet has already started laying off their diversity hires. There's only so far a company can come making one businesslike decision after the other.

>Didnt do world pvp
I mean, it doesn't force you but it exists. On DK you are forced PVP when ever you travel on the overworld.

unbusinesslike.*

It has no risk and faction restrictions.

Terrible pvp.

Attached: 1523544516857.png (668x590, 408K)

Dungeon Fighter Online comes to mind.

that's how it should be though, why would you go into PvP with restrictions and risks?

Can we just get a remaster of pso or a new game in vain of pso/psu, I don’t like pso2

Fuck man I wish time machine existed so I could take you back and show you some real pvp

Because the game forces you to or it's more profitable?

WoW never had good pvp because factions hand hold you way too much and you don't lose anything for being bad.

Attached: 1542860533523.png (570x885, 302K)

we're all not gonna make it bros

>How
They dont control server populations
They open too many servers
They open too few servers and over populate them
They start to fuck with balance
Server stablity is the same as it is on the current live environment
They make no moves to do anything after naxx is out (no progression or FRESH)

I remember some mid or late 90s mmo where it had open pvp where you could even camp the newly created character spawn and upon death your gear could be looted. Now that was great pvp

Well at the very least your character has an inclination based on your actions and depending on your standing you can gain political power over your regional factions.

>genre is dying
>it is further getting killed by all the pseudo-mmo shit games like the looter shooters that have literally no day 1 content because the devs try to justify it with "but we have a road map look!"

Attached: knight.jpg (1280x960, 159K)

Why don't you have 80% of your entire net worth equipped right now?

>PLAYING MMO IN 2019

Attached: 2389472894.gif (500x500, 313K)

This is such a retarded mindset

Why would they invest resources into something they WANT to fail? Just to prove a point? They just wouldn't do it.

I'd argue it'll have minimal resources (based on the classic panel the development right now is just a very slow copy/paste from the old 1.12 client to the new client), but for them to invest time and resources and purposely fuck it up just to "be smug" is retarded

You should put more effort to your shitposts, ESO was garbage when it launched but now has stolen most WoW streamers, whit the only notable exception being assmuchgold and his lets react videos.

If you are like me and hate the weaponscaling thing and the combat that's fine, I don't play the game for those reasons but realize that ESO is currently in much better spot than WoW has been in years.

Also something about GW and GW2.

Attached: 1528546545235.jpg (1551x1868, 412K)

Fucking this. Yes nostalgia plays a role in the demand for classic wow, but goddamn the genre is so dogshit due to developer incompetence and publisher jewery that there is a huge gap for gamers that want an MMO experience that isn't a gacha or casino simulator

i just don't like how they have the content carved up the dungeon packs should be free only things like clockwork city and the expansions should be paid content

>anarchy online fresh server
>shadowbringers
>wow dying even harder when twitch kiddies realise classic is ass and just a leveling experience
2019 is going to be great.

Attached: 1535026486338.png (273x628, 127K)

redpill me on ESO combat and pvp
is it fun

This is just a measure of the amount of trannies and attention whores a game has

is it still pay pig if I pay with gold?

Attached: CJEDUD2d_400x400[1].jpg (270x270, 14K)

why would I play that boring shit made for trannies?

seething blizdrone

Yeah, since you are creating a market for people to buy them with real money, and blizz gets more money that way overall.

You are the extra special kind of paypig. You pay by working for free.

Don't you... forget about me..
