Is Call of Chernobyl as expansive as OGSE? I was really impressed with the content made in that mod.

it's a freeplay mod with most of the maps from all games and some deleted maps
it's pretty big and great platform for mods

CoC by itself is pretty barebones. It needs mods on top of it.

Misery 2.2 is no fun allowed mod, it has good ideas but executed very badly, that is why there are mods for CoC that take the good stuff out of it and removes the tedious bullshit of Misery 2.x

Misery 1.X is fine because it doesn't try to redefine STALKER, it's NG+

Seriously, like said: if you wanna experience the OG game and story, stay away from the big mods. Otherwise, MISERY is the fix ya need. And 1.x is too fucking vanilla, just with brown coat.

there is not a more realistic game. but xr-engine is just too unstable for windows7/10 in my opinion. especially with complex mods. you will be restarting every 30 minutes or so

Misery 2.2 is a bloat that adds way too much bullshit over it, which is a damn shame because some ideas are very nice, with weapon repair and food cooking, but execution is terrible, while I agree extending hobo phase was a good idea but creating tedioum is not.
Also, you could get your hand on old builds before official game release.

Arsenal overhaul 3.1. It includes with it atmosfear3 and absolute nature as optional addons. Use those too. You will need the mutantpartsfix patch which is downloadable on the same moddb page. For more hardcore there's misery and other shit

It's an overhaul mod. It's meant for later playthru's, for veterans looking for more content and challenge dozes.
And it's glorious.

Because Absolute Nature let you chose what kind of flora you want and has few mods within.
Then you could just play SGM with hitscan enemies and titanium boards instead.
Most people moved on to CoC and use some parts of Misery, Dead Air, Road to the North, Anomaly, all use good parts of Misery and remove the bad parts.

I just finished SoC and now I’m playing CoP without mods, did I fuck up? It’s pretty good even as vanilla but I guess graphics could be better

if you truly want faction wars you have to mod the shit out of the game because the vanilla faction wars are broken and pretty half baked

This is what I use when I want a vanilla experience. These are purely cosmetic and audio, but keep the original experience fully intact. Definitely use this setup for your first run.
