The vita is based when you understand what you can do with it.
There's not a single other console on the market, official or chink that can do PS1 at a hardware level with full dualshock input.
It's also the only way to play MGS2 and 3 for me other than PC.

Have a hacked 3DS and Vita, non-hacked Switch since I got it from a friend who accidentally got another for Christmas as a gift. It's already been updated to the latest firmware, so I can't hack it. It's a newer model too, so I don't think I can do that hardware exploit either. Not that big of a deal though, I do have several games I'd to play online on and I don't think hacked switches can play online yet.
Dynamic recompilation is still a form of emulation. It still has significant overhead, so much so that framerates are almost always worse than a real PS1 which were already questionable. Crash Team Racing is another example of a game that isn't nearly as smooth as it was on real hardware.

My rule of thumb is that I'm willing to buy a console if it has 4-5 game I'm interested in. If not, just wait for a cheap price on the console or more games to come out. A lot of weeb games on Switch are available on other consoles or PC, so i wouldn't buy a Switch if Xenoblade 2 is the only thing you're interested in.

None, the demopods here usually just had a retail game in em, and they're both ps2.
According to a collector friend of mine PS2 demopods are supposed to have a modded PS2 in em that turns on automatically when power gets turned on, I got two PS2's from demopods with my right PS2 demopod there, but I'm not sure where I put those, as I put my hardmodded PS2 in there. Need to dig through my piles of consoles to find them and see if I actually do have the proper model PS2 that was supposed to be in there or if the store that I bought these from had replaced them over time.
Any reason to get a PSP instead of jumping straight to the Vita?

MGS2 is either 30 or 60fps , usually 60 indoors and 30 outdoors.
MGS3 is a locked at 30, so it's pretty much just a straight subsistence port, so much better than MGS3D.

Emulation wise snes games run fine on o3ds hardware. Not sure why vc injecting them requires a n3ds. Gens games run fine for the most part, played through sword of vermillion flawlessly, but I have run across some serious slowdown with a few games like samurai shodown.

Gameboy line was a constant uphill to the GBAsp, the micro was okay, DS fat to DS lite was a great improvement, but everything since has been downhill

since I've had the switch I've almost exclusively used it docked and have only used it handheld if I was travelling, but when I started playing Torna I was sick so I played it in bed but I've found that that's pretty comfy so I've played the entire game in handheld mode, it's nice
Thinking on it I'd probably not play other games in handheld but I thought that before so who knows.

user, please tell me you replaced the analog 5 times and that you didn't buy 5 ps vitas. It only cost around $5 to replace the analog stick. You don't even have to solder, it's just a ribbon cable.
My main vita is a used launch 3G model with a ton of use and the sticks are fine. Maybe they cheaped out on the 2K?
Anyway you can buy replacement sticks and it's only a couple of screws to fix, if you need to you can swap the mobo (make sure to check the firmware). Get it fixed now while parts are cheap.
I bought S;G, S;G 0 and muv luv physical since I was late to the vita game. I would have also payed a full 60 bucks for a persona 5 port and catherine full body, but whatever.
Buying out of print games is just a waste of money though.
As for nintendo shit theres not a single reason to buy DS games unless you're collecting, and I hate nusquare with a passion so fuck them.
