How do I git gud at SS13? I want to play it but I'm anxious that I will bring the entire game down by being a retarded newb.
SECURITY THE CLOWN IS BULLYING ME AGAIN
some things just arent meant to be user...
the only thing I was able to do in Ss13 was to eat a dohnut, smash a window and send myself into vacum
I was raped twice on some server on this game.
Just play a simple job like janitor and work your way from there. Most servers have a wiki you can read to learn what to do.
Hold it right there, clown.
Just don't start off as an important job like any of the department roles and you'll be fine.
Dealing with retarded newbies is the fun part though. Just play the game.
start off as a janitor
literally nobody gives a shit if you keep the ship clean or if its completed caked in blood on every single tile so you are free to figure out the mechanics of the game while you mong about cleaning up blood stains
That's probably all you're good for though.
Lies. Doing your job as janitor is what pisses people off the most, because they're too stupid to stop running when you clearly put up wet floor signs. It's one of the simpler and more satisfying roles to do your job with as a result.
>drink alcohol
>smoke weed
>log into a server
>pick janitor or cargo tech
>have wacky adventures
most important step
>dont break the server rules
>have fun
>repeat
this
honk
Nice try, but im playing pAI. No one ever picks me up.
SS13 brings out the absolute worse in people and drags you down a rabbit hole, avoid at all cost
>be security
>you get to bully the clown as much as you like
I want her to beat me, cuff me to a bed, and leave me to be swallowed by the singularity.
it's kind of incredible just how much dumb drama can erupt from small communities
>DreamSeeker may be experiencing a problem reaching byond.com
second time this week
fuck /vg/ its an admin metaclub bans anyone that speaks out
It's probably changed by now, but the trick was learning how to table slam people, how to make lube, and how to acquire high damage melee weapons along with how to disassemble walls, windows, and hack doors. Aside from that just learn the vital function of one job, perform it at the start of the round, and then fuck off and do whatever. For example, starting the singularity as an engineer, or cultivating a healing virus as viro.
*makes radio traffic unusable*
It's because small communities are forged with societal expectation but anonymity throws that out of the window so the only thing left to keep it together is good faith which the people who place SS13 utterly lack, or rather, a small amount of people lack it but it takes just a few people as is to completely shit things up as max pop isn't large in these serbs
does turning a bunch of walkie talkies on and then throwing them into a box still crash servers?
SS13 is all about how people tick, like people rat-racing to get the Spare Captain ID due it being a "Path of least resistance" all access method, and not lounging near restricted areas too long as a Borg since people will argue your laws with you regarding how opening/not opening a door counts as putting a human at risk due chain of command and will likely scream ROGUE AI.
It can be fun causally, but it is frankly better to server surf then getting entrenched in community drama, most servers actually end up acting similarly in practice anyway in spite of their "THIS IS THE SUPERIOR SERVER" drama shit.
As a Newb you are honestly the life blood BECAUSE you will make genuine mistakes that end up being far more damaging as more experienced players just robust eachother in the same manners, with the occasional gimmick guy.
Nothing is more boring then a round where everyone is competent and the Traitor/Ayy is located and apprehended/killed fast (because everyone is competent).
But rounds where everyone is competent are funny when you break into the arrival security checkpoint, steal a flash, and start flashing people in view of the RD/CMO who immediately scream REVOLUTION and security breaks out the harmbatons.
Only to find out it's nuke ops when nukies roll into the station after security has killed half the crew while the other half has barricaded themselves in various rooms.
henk
how do I distinguish who is talking in a room
everytime I go somwhere where there are more than 2 people talking I dont know who is talking to who
Have to pay attention to their names and speech bubbles.
