Grinding for Legendary Cores and popping them all continuously is much much faster than just resetting over and over and over again

The nice thing is that you really don't need to break any of your blades, at least not for the basic story. Maybe it becomes more necessary when you're doing BoC challenge battles but you never need minmaxing to do much of anything in the game.

Yeah much more solid than 2. 2 is good in it's own way but there are many frustrating aspects about it (KOS-MOS/gacha being a major one) and the party just feels worse to me.
1 is a much more well-rounded experience. It won't blow you away but it's a nice journey with some cool characters.

None of the blades in my first playthrough were particularly hard to get. Dahlia was my last, but I only had to grind legendary cores for about an hour to get her.
Took me fucking ages to get Akhos in NG+ though.

XB1 got away with showing a little bit of blood, and it was rated CERO B. 2 was C, so I don't get why it couldn't either.
Kind of a mix. All the story cutscenes are voiced, but some of them are simpler and you can turn on a option to manually advance the dialogue in those scenes. (Not sure why you would, but it's an option.)

Kosmos is definitely strong on Nia, but Nia just isn't that good once you get to BoC and challenge mode. Pretty much always better off using another driver, and you definitely want Kosmos on a driver you'll actually use.

So I'm finally at the end game and I started my rare blade collecting. How do you do it, bros? It's so mind numbing with the RNG. My first rare blade attempt is to get QT pi but I need the goddamn forestry skill at level 5. I don't mind grinding but RNG is bullshit. I just can't, bros. Game is fun though.

Not that xenoblade is hard, but it's more engaging than trails is, at least after a few hours when you get some options.

Xenosaga is dated, which is fine if you don't mind that, but I don't think it holds up all that well if you don't have some prior attachment to it.

Do I need to be lv99 for that? My party is at around 88-89 and I'm set up for Smash memes but even with a legendary Beta scope and some other general stat boosts, Break gets resisted half the time, and particularly on the Ardun, Topple, Launch and Smash also get resisted a bunch. I unironically have more success juggling the lv130 big boy than against the Ardun. Even though Tyrannotitan ends up killing me after a bit due to some bullshit or another after a missed Break, Topple, Launch and Smash never fail while Break is the only real problem sometimes.

Admittedly, Poppi isnt nearly as insane as she could be so that might be where a lot of my issues are coming from, but even as she is now she still does a good job

Each person's playthrough of the game will be different too, based on the randomness of which blades they get and if they choose to do their side quest as they progress.

Most of my enjoyment with the game was doing those and even getting all the blades.

Wait for NG+, but look up the items you need to level it up and get them ahead of time.

It doesn't matter, other superbosses work just fine.

I just beat the third golden "post-game" monster and only the last one is missing but it's killing me almost instantly at level 82 and I so don't feel like grinding that plant.

When you actually commit to it its not THAT bad, especially if you just core grind something in between missions, but even then its still fucking awful.

I went from like 15 stamps in each category to finishing the thing in a pretty short amount of time. Getting some quick muscle memory on optimal squads for some missions saved a whole bunch of time

How can we fix Shield Hammers? Why are they just so irredeemably shite?

Have an HP Tank who can use them

Because there are only two tank drivers; one who shouldn't be using Shield Hammers and one who outright can't use Shield Hammers.

By giving them extra love and care and maybe giving them modifiers that multiply their damage potential gradually as they draw aggro. Have them cap higher than other weapon types so that their damage potential exceeds Fiora to make up for their slow animations. More aux core slots and a Driver Combo effect on those lacking one would be neat too.

They're only useful when solo'ing.
You can switch to them to block big damage hits, although in practice it's more efficient to just stack evasion or avoid big hits with a lv4 special.

Once you've bonded 50+ common cores you should have a handful of commons with Forestry you can equip for QTpi classes

My biggest gripe with the game is that even after all those updates it STILL has no fucking auto-switch for blades when you use have to use their environmental skills.
Completely ruined NG+ for me since I've to constantly swap blades all the time.

I think the drivers get a second affinity chart as well, but I haven't started Torna's NG+.

You need to be at least level 91, IIRC. Otherwise, Relentless Arduran at level 100 (and enemies in general) get higher break resistance and damage against you because you're underleveled. Superbosses don't have these bonuses because they're all way higher than your max level anyway.

Topple, Launch, and Smash shouldn't be getting resisted at all. You need to level up until that stops happening.

Dagas is better on Morag if Zeke is your main attacker. Dagas is a support for attackers, you don't want to use him on your attacker driver.

IMO shield hammers (and tanks in general) were never intended to keep aggro from DPS blades. They're very deliberately designed not to have high damage output (low auto-attack and crit, limited no.of aux core slots, no damage boosts), and the aggro system isn't designed for it either.

I was fighting Kurodil one time, and it used Twinbarrel Autocannon. Rex got caught in the crossfire, and his health got low. Then, Nia's instant regen passive kicked in and activated a bunch of times in a row. It looked like the attack was HEALING Rex.

Fioras DPS eclipses anything Mythra can muster, while also making Rex immortal. Fioras passive is a flat 50% increase to crit chance for the whole party, so there's no way they're the same tier.

Got kos-mos from a rare blades while I was climbing the world tree. It was a nice treat as I was wrapping up my first playthrough. Excluding new game plus blades my last 3 blades rolled we're adenine, perceval, and gorg. Adenine was the only one I blew core crystals on, which was fine enough. Post game though, I STILL haven't rolled mikhael. I just gave up on the game and played other things. I 100% that game twice without getting him to drop.

But if you went solo on a boss, she would have it just as easy as Fiora. She also makes evasion tanks untouchable.

You don't. You get him at the bottom of the world tree in NG+ after you beat the game a second time. I don't know if you can get him in your first playthrough.

You don't need to beat the game to get him, he shows up after his "death" in chapter 9.

I have a few questions/problems, if any kind user could be a bro:
1. I'm on new game plus Chapter 7 and I can't (and haven't been able to) do Icecraft with Dahlia. The place at the warehouse doesn't give any option to do it and I don't know why. I can't complete Dahlia's tree because of this. (I got Dahlia and did some Icecraft in the first playthrough).
2. I understand that quests are supposed to have reset for NG+, yet certain Blade Quests aren't activating where they did last game. I haven't been able to activate Wulfric's, Dahlia's or Perceval's quests even though I'm pretty sure I was able to at this point last time. (I could get Sheba's, Theory's, and a few others)
3. Zenobia's "We need to talk" Merc mission isn't working. I send her on the Merc but she's nowhere in Argentum.

None. I got all my Blades as it was statistically expected, so KOS-MOS in the last chapter, as I expect out of a late-game weapon, after 120 legendary cores or so. Adenine was the one before her (which was in those 120 legendary cores), and then Zenobia. The only one I wish i got earlier is Zenobia, due to her affinity chart, but that's it.

Do you have the party's main blades equipped? Pyra and Mythra are especially important for this, since sometimes quests won't trigger without them there.

See above. This is one that I had trouble with, since I tried to start the quest in chapter 7 while Pyra was out of the party, and couldn't.

Evading is only useful for speedrunning couple fights. Fiora is much better as a general use blade.

I just recently discovered how Seal Combos and Elemental Bursts work. Before that I never had common blades equipped. Only the ones I got through Main Story Progression, or perhaps a Rare Core Crystal blade. I also recently discovered it's good to have common blades equipped to drivers for blade switching, and Field Skills. Now that I recall there were many chests I couldn't open while exploring because I didn't have "_____ mastery" field skill and whatnot. Gotta backtrack and do some searching in areas.

The Conduit is gone. As far as I understood, that was the powersource used by the Aegises to power the Core Crystals and send evolutionary code, and the source of Ether Energy which was used by both Drivers and Blades (as well as harnessed to power machines and such).

With Ether gone from the world, I guess people will have to go back to old-fashioned energy sources like coal, solar energy, nuclear energy and whatnot, if they can figure out how it works, and the entire Blade system will slowly come to an end as Drivers die and Blades lack the energy to reawaken. Even Tora's artificial Blades run on Ether Furnaces so unless he can develop compatible nuclear batteries I guess even Poppi will stop functioning eventually. With no evolved Blades to take their place, Titans too will go extinct.

Going from "there's infinite magical energy literally all around us at all time waiting to be used" to "shit I guess we better build a dam" is definitely going to be hard for the people of Alrest, and I'm sure new wars will be started for the territory and resources needed for these new energy sources, maybe not within Rex and co.'s lifetime, maybe there's enough residual Ether to last thousands, if not millions of years, but eventually, the cycle of violence will resume anew.

The terminal also has a fairly large collection of breadcrumb quests that lead to party members or more substantial normal quests, the final level field skills and additional puppers. The generic quests also award a ton of casual clothes you won't get from combat. But don't take the ones that want you to gather items that aren't monster drops unless you already have them or you know where they're found. Dropping by the terminal when you return from exploring to quickly complete a bunch of board quests can help with your non-lin/elma party members' affinity.

I started NG+ a few days ago. Before that I only played vanilla XC2 up to completion one year ago and Torna on release.
So I can at least enjoy some new stuff in NG+ which isn't NG+ exclusive like all those updates and DLCs that I didn't play yet.

I started it when the update came out, a little more than a month and a half after I finished the game. I kept doing postgame stuff during that month, though, so I don't know if that counts as a break or not.

What did those of you who played 2 without playing 1 make of this scene?

I never played one but had a vague sense of the plot. My reaction was more or less "that's pretty fucking cool".

Don't know if you're still here but Dark blades are immune to insta-kills so maybe try that

Is that explained anywhere in the game? And do other elements have immunities like that too?

afaik it's literally not explained anywhere in game. The only enemies that have those insta kills are superbosses so i guess that's why it's not explained. There are equipables that have doom resist it's the same thing. I do not know if other elements have anything like that

What happened to Klaus was one of the coolest parts of the game.

A major theme of the game is a question of what makes a person who they are. Blades lose their memories every time they are awoken. Who they are, who they become, is determined in a big way by the people they bond with every time, the perspective they gain on the world through the particular circumstances they are born into.

And then you find out, this happened with God as well. Some people like to think Klaus' "bad side" got sucked into the other universe. I think it's more subtle than that.

The exact same Klaus went into the universe of XC1 as was in XC2. The exact same flawed, ambitious, brilliant man. The difference is one of perspective.

That ambitious, brilliant, driven man essentially became one of the founding gods of the new universe in XC1, and this perspective led to him becoming the wicked, controlling, detached Zanza.

That exact same man was the one we saw in XC2. Only, in this universe, he saw the awful consequences of his actions. He saw the destruction he caused, the death of his world, the death of perhaps the greatest civilization that ever existed. And this perspective, while he was still ambitious, and brilliant, led him to be much more sorrowful, humble, and repentant, to try to repair the damage he did.

It's a symbolism that gels nicely with the questions you ask about what it means for a blade to lose their memories.

My problem isn't the Doom Status. It's that Wild Wave does enough damage to OHKO me AND instantly drains the party gauge to zero so you can't be revived

Unfortunatel because of smash autists always saying things like "ACTUALLY shulk is the most powerful character in smash because he killed a god teehee OOPS spoiler alert!" i knew as soon as i saw that scene that he was supposed to be the other half of the god in XC1

I don't see how that's unfortunate. It helped you understand what was going on and doesn't remotely explain what was truly happening in XC1 outside of the final boss

I love the artbook but the reason I got it was because of how much I love the environmental art design in XC2, this is really disappointing

There is a big disparity between how Zanza acts and Klaus acts. Zanza is a megalomaniacal shithead who sees all life besides himself as a plaything, while Klaus is flawed, but genuinely repentant, sorrowful and humbled. It's hard to reconcile the two, and it's not a stretch to wonder if Klaus' 'bad side' got sucked into another world.

But I think them being hard to reconcile is exactly part of the point. Take the same person, put them in different circumstances, and you will end up with vastly different ways their personality and traits express themselves. They aren't entirely different people, just different realizations of the same person. For example, Klaus and Zanza are both still ambitious and have somewhat of a god complex. It's just Zanza uses that ambition and god complex to create a world where everything centers around him (because from his perspective the world was literally created for himi) while Klaus uses that god-complex to attempt to undo, what he ultimately realizes, can never be undone: the death of his civilization.

First, finish any long-running quests you currently have going on, and finish feeding then killing the Ardun in Torigoth if you haven't already, then play Torna, then start NG+.

Yes, do Torna. After Torna, might be a good idea to take a break to not get burnt out. This is how I did it:

Fresh game
Torna
take a break playing some other vidya
Fresh game to completion (as much as you can without going into NG+)
Take a break playing some other vidya
NG+ to completion to see that sweet Nia endgame screen

Yeah I think NG+ is worth it. If you like the combat system it's fun to use the NG+ blades for challenge mode and the superbosses
As for what to do before NG+. make sure you feed the baby armu in torigoth so it becomes a lvl 99 boss and beat that. Also finish up any quests you have left because progress doesn't carry over. This isn't a big deal if you want to skip most of them cause they really don't matter that much but i recommend at least doing all the quests for the rare blades ESPECIALLY ursula's quest. I also recommend you do torna before NG+

it's not worth it to grind for all the rare blades before NG+ imo

I'd say get the Dilaton Chip but since they made it easy to get more of them with the DLC it doesn't really matter.

Well, that's what the Collector's Edition Artbook was for, actually. You get all those background arts, but over much larger pages due to the CE's artbook format

They complement each other quite nicely

No, games are meant to be played. This zoomer shit of "watching" games on jewtube or Twitch has to stop. Even for games as heavy in cutscenes as Xenosaga.
