Why do they do this?

Money
And trying to tie it in to the movie
This game was great. Stop beimg a hipster cunt
nearly every part of the ps2 game was downgraded
the only improvements I can even think of are the clank sections, the trespasser puzzles and Gaspar. everything else is worse
Because they can get away with it, and retards like will defend it. Just emulate it or play the ps3 collection
Hopefuly after this and the Gravity Rush failures Sony completely moves away from those smaller "quirkier" productions and gives the funds and support to develop more AAA cinematic games.
You know the ones that sell.
Less Ratchet & Clank, more Uncharted.
Kill yourself
>if you don't like shit flavor #1 you like shit flavor #2
that's how the world works retard
sony's smaller games are trash
there is no reason to try developing more
are you okay user?
cringe
me on the right >:D
Honest question: what other R&C games have you played?
Despite its revisions, it was still a joy to experience another Ratchet and Clank game. R&C's era of design philosophy is sorely missed nowadays, and it's really telling how much demand there is to bring back so many old IPs.
What part of the R&C design philosophy do you think R&C2016 followed?
It's the only Ratchet and Clank game I've played and it's made me interested in playing the PS2 and PS3 games
As far as the main series of Ratchet games it's my least favourite. The spinoffs are mostly worse.
Which games should I avoid then?
2 > 1 (2002) > Deadlocked/Gladiator > 3 > aCiT > ToD > Nexus > 1 (2016) > QfB > SM > trash > the rest
Play the first three PS2 games, Deadlocked/Gladiator and a Crack in Time. The first one may be a little dated but try to stick with it any way.
If you're still not satisfied after that, try Tools of Destruction, Quest for Booty, Nexus and Size Matters.
Ignore everything else.
>3 > aCiT > ToD
commit suicide
>liking any future game over any member of the original 4
What's wrong about what I said there?
>Make it worse
if it's worse then why it has a good rating?
youtube.com
Ive played all r&t games
Sure it wasnt as good as 1 but it was deffinitly better than anything that came after gladiator consider that they had their budget halfed because sony wanted the fucking movie being made
Its deffinitly no bad game and fun for a few hours
Thanks, I'll definitely look into them at some point
>IGN
Try a real critic.
youtube.com
Nah it's definitely worse than aCiT. aCiT had way better level design.
Quest for booty and size matters are fucking shite i wouldnt even play those if i was paid for it
1>2>3>Gladiator>2016>Size Matters>Nexus>Full Frontal Assault>A Crack in Time>Quest for Booty>Tools of Destruction>All 4 One
Reminder aCiT is the most overrated R&C
Reminder Clank sections are literally cancer and if you like them you have no taste
well you got shit taste my man have fun with it
Clank sections in 1 were fun i always liked the feeling of having my own robot army
I like all ToD and aCiT more than gladiator
Clank sections in 1 are fire
Nah, the worst parts about acit are the space ship sections. Fuck they were boring. Why do people praise it so much? ToD had more fluid gameplay
Holy fuck kill yourself
Clank sections were shit in 1, they were too slow and dumb.
aCiT's clank sections were much better because you actually had to think slightly. At the end game anyway, the first few levels were shit and the other busywork (fighting enemies and healing planets) was fucking dull.
I think R&C2016 has the best clank segments. They're not bogged down by extraneous combat, they doing drag on and they have actual puzzles.
*They don't drag on.
>game needs to be updated for modern gamers
>modern gamers are more retarded and tasteless than ever
Not hard to understand
Do you perhaps have adhd? Even as a kid i didnt find the clank sections boring
Maybe you just love dick
Worth it for the platforming moons. ToD's platforming was weak as fuck. Also aCiT has fun open levels like Krell Canyon to shake up combat encounters.
you aren't wrong that 2016 had good Clank gameplay. I hated the shit fucking banter that would happen over the top of those sections sometimes, however. 1 had good gameplay for the Clank sections, but also had great atmosphere. I never felt that they were TOO slow, they were a welcome change of pace, and sometimes had a great deal of tension that still made them feel exciting, eg. the Orxon section
Going Commando > Ratchet and Clank (2002) > A Crack in Time > Deadlocked > Up Your Arsenal > Tools of Destruction > Ratchet and Clank (2016) > Into the Nexus > Quest for Booty > Size Matters > Secret Agent Clank > Full Frontal Assualt > All 4 One > 2D Nokia Brick phone games.
2016 has best button layout
2002 has best music and story
Going Commdo (also 1) has best atmosphere and “feel” to the universe. GC also has best guns and Ship combat.
Deadlocked is the funniest and best weapon modding system
Crack in Time has best Clank sections optional content
Size Matters has best Armour system
The banter was fucking dreadful in 2016. There'd be so much banter that the characters just cut each other off before their lines are finished.
I dunno, there really wasn't much strategy in the 2002 clank sections. If you were forced to solve a puzzle maybe it'd be worth the slower pace, but the solutions are obvious as soon as you enter a room so it's just busywork.
Orxon was a pretty soulful level though. I loved how you saw the world from btoh characters' perspective. I especially liked how you could return to Clank's section on the Blarg Station after getting the O2 mask.
This game was fun as fuck. Sure, Ratchet's personality got scrubbed, but the game itself played better and it's graphics were wonderful. I went into Spidey PS4 thinking it would be just as fun; but nah. Insomniac still mostly sucks. But Ratchet PS4 was a temporary glimpse of their old glory.
I can definitely understand the criticism of the Clank levels in 1, especially for the earlier ones. I found the slower pace to be enjoyable in later levels like Orxon, because even though puzzles were simple, you had rooms such as the one with sparks gliding along the floor, and you had to slowly but steadily advance your group of robots. rooms like that are what make me look back so fondly on 1's Clank levels, because things like the sound design and art direction also contributed to a genuine sense of danger that I was carefully navigating, like walking a tightrope. they realistically weren't very difficult, but they made me feel as a child like I was overcoming a challenge, and still so when I replay nowadays. it's worth noting however that I'm including things like aforementioned sound design and art direction in my assessment, as opposed to the pure gameplay of those sections
Ahem
Fuck any R&C made after the PS2 era
Fuck Insomniac & Todd Price for being sellout cucks to SJW and Sony.
All 4 One > 2016
Let that sink in
I've let it sink; clearly, you're retarded.
The gameplay was actually worse IMO. Level design and weapon choice was important for fighting enemies but now everything is killed the same way. Not to mention that nearly all platforming is gone.
I actually bothered to finish 2016. Couldn't even. Get more than a few levels into A4O
Fuck off Gladiator was repetitive and boring as shit
Gladiator had more variety than 3 desu
based & redpilled unironically
It's the only R&C game I've played, but I had great fun. You're all just a bunch of contrarian hipsters.
That's true. But it was still better than All 4 One. To each his own, user. If anything, I'm happy a game like R&C can still thrive in today's market. I enjoyed the hell out of Sly 4 played on the Vita, but it was clear this was going to be Sly's last adventure. And Naughty Dog at least had the good grace to realize they would fuck up Jak 4, abandoned it, and made Last of Us instead.
I'm in the same boat, I would definitely replay this at some point
You can lay out better bait than that
I replayed the future saga lately after all these years and holy fuck aCiT is so overrated, ToD's default difficulty is the extreme one on aCiT, there's shit enemy variety, the ship sections sucks, weapons variety sucks and there isn't a single memorable music, the mini moons (mainly the ones were you have to kill "x" enemies) are a complete pushover, idk how so many people rate it so high.
> I enjoyed the hell out of Sly 4 played on the Vita, but it was clear this was going to be Sly's last adventure.
But Sly 4 ends with a cliff hanger teasing a sequel that never came yet ;_;
The PS4 Ratchet WAS an introduction to the series for a lot of people. It's a solidly built game. It reviewed well, sold well, and is shit on only by fans who consider the original 3 games sacred. I loved the first 3 PS2 titles, but the PS3 ones were middling. PS4 Ratchet isn't close to 2 or 3, but it's a great reboot and a graphical wonder.
My two pennies.
>>Remake a game
They didn't. They made The Movie: The Game.
By clear I mean it was obvious Sly 4 wasn't making enough in sales for Sony to greenlight 5. R&C PS4 was a success, so there's a chance a sequel could eventually arrive.
I had fun with the game but I was disappointed by it. They removed a lot of what was good about the original game but didn't add a lot more to compensate.
Yeah it's kind of a zombie franchise at this point. I'd be happy if it finished here because I think they've exhausted all the good ideas.
how to spot a contrarian/nostalgiafag: the post
Actually it was more like Game: The Movie: The Game
Technically correct, but the mentality going into development was to create a tie-in to the movie, not a proper remake of the first game.
Is that why most of the planets are retreads of the original games levels? Not just in terms of theme but platform-by-platform.
They wanted to keep it similar enough so old fans would recognize it, but that's really the only thing they have in common.
I'd rather they use completely new level design. This just draws attention to how disappointing the new levels are because a lot of the structural detail in the original levels were cut.
Off the top of my head only Gaspar is expanded while Quartu is completely redesigned. But Novalis and Kerwan have a ton of cut secrets. And the hidden areas in Aridia and Kalebo III aren't even really secret any more.
A lot of the new Ratchet games try to pander to classic fans by referencing the old games but most of the time it's either confusing or highlights the downgrade.
I don't know what they are thinking, in the last games the kept the worst part of 3:the constant mini-arenas everywhere and the "just shoot everything that moves" feel, instead of the balance there was in 1 and 2 plus the creative ways to pass a level instead of just mindlessly shoot, they kept the worst parts of the future saga: the constant talking and banter over your radio, the handholding and removed every hidden area. The story, humor and music is just ass compared to the older ones.
