They seem to play about the same, except the emulator has higher density in shadow particles. Which is nice.
While emulation is possible, they usually require higher specs than the consoles, primarily because of their CPU clock.
I always find it funny how every video of these I see have an i7 (probably overclocked), high end RAM and 1080+ card. It's probably because these people like me like to be updated in hardware, but it gives a false notion anyone can afford to emulate current gen at times.

This is correct, but the Yuzu shot has better shadows (probably because it's doing fp32 calculation where a switch is fp16)
Look at how the shadows more accurately follow the contour of the face.

However this could also be a bad thing, whilst it looks good in this shot, Switch is designed for FP16, so even in other shots of odyssey, the extra precision could cause errors.

Game barely goes above 25 fps in some places but it's doable...

Mario Odyssey is the only one I've tested in a few computers. It has improved a lot lately but it's still pretty rough. I think the only games that run at full speed are like binding of isaac and other 2D stuff.

Switch supports local wifi multiplayer, something that can be used to emulate actual servers like with Citra emu.
In fact, there is a PR and build with working online multiplayer already, it only makes sense that this would happen since quite a large part of the emu code is based on Citra and its coming from the same devs.

However, the emulator is still not very playable so multiplayer has 0 focus until games run decently.

yeah but here's the problem.
they said Odyssey would be playable a while ago but over the last month the framerate has gotten worse & when yuzu is running it takes up all your ram and crashes after a short while. the cause of this used to be shaders being stored in ram. but now that there's a shader cache this shouldn't be happening at all. that and the fact the frame rate keeps going down and then back up but never improving past what it was last year. means there's a fundamental problem with the way the emulators running as well as a bad memory leak (a serious issue that shouldn't be happening to this extent at all).

the team is stuck in a bad spot. so no the emulator is not looking better with every update it's lees playable now than it was over a month ago. and something tells me It will be a long time before they fix the serious problems their latest updates introduced.

rendering is tied to cpu performance because of the nature of emulation. cpu handles the virtual console that does the rendering even if gpu is handling the assets.

Well, I guess the fact that I have so many because PC never really becomes obsolete and you never need to change to a new console that can't run games from the previous one. Since new OS's rarely come out, and even then you can find ways to make old games run on a new OS.
I feel like games not becoming obsolete via old consoles is more important to me. And even then, like this thread says you can just emulate all exclusives so... Ya know, you aren't really missing out on anything. Just gotta wait a bit for the emulators to be made and you have all the games on 1 platform.

I said I had 350 games.
That is literally only 1/7th of my library. Not my fault Neptunia released so many games. I never even played them yet. Next on my list is Okami. Then Shadow Warrior 2. Enter the gungeon. So on.

There hasn't been a relevant PC exclusive release in the last 10 years.
