There's no Front Mission in the title. Wanzer segments that are in do look like clunkier Front Mission Evolved bits, though. Game is otherwise a TPS with a low budget from what I've seen.

Difficult is that the rules are firmly decided, like Dark Soul and Rockman, the situation when the player understands it and is losing many times in a fair state. On the other hand, the left-alive rule is unknown, the setting of hit judgment is sneaky, the control is shit and the enemy is perceived through the wall. Autoseave specifications are garbage without checkpoints. It is unreasonable and meaning unknown, for example, if you are playing chess your opponent suddenly hits this face and is like saying "This is my win!"

It's Square-Enix attempting to cash in on Konami fucking up Metal Gear using the closes IP they had their hands on. It's a stealth action game with a few mecha sections, the mecha sections are nothing like armored core they play out like a regular ass third person shooter. They're really no different than the Rex vs Ray fight found in MGS4. They're there just to break up all the stealth sections.

Konami fired Yoji along with the rest of KojiPro.

Western devs have zero confidence in the strength of their core gameplay, so instead of boss fights being a test of player skill in that gameplay, they're mechanically separate cinematic setpieces.

Has more to do with the fact some still obsess that turning video games into movies will somehow legitimize them as an art form.

The fact they also hired shinkawa to do the art for the game helps further push that idea as well

What are you talking about? What you describe is much more common in Japanese games, where boss fights tend to use one-off gimmicks that never occur during gameplay. Take for example the stealth genre.

MGS for example has boss fights that are shootouts or hand-to-hand fights. This is mindboggingly stupid in a game that is all about AVOIDING detecttion. Not just from a narrative perspective, but also from a gameplay perspective, as the controls in MGS games are incredibly clunky and poorly suited for action.

Looking Glass understood this when they made Thief, so they made the final boss not a literal fight, but a stealth puzzle, where you had to sneakily set a trap for the boss while avoiding being seen.

Japanese boss fights are better than western boss fights, yes, but this image doesn't even make sense. Human Revolution is worse than the original Deus Ex precisely because it tried to have traditional boss fights, which have no place in a game like Deus Ex. Ditto for Fallout.

And do people seriously like the boss fights in the MGS games? MGS1-3 have some of the worst action/shooter controls I've experienced, they're completely unsuited for boss fights.

I don't think this was ever going to be an avenue to bring Front Mission back. This was only an attempt to crash in on Metal Gear. They know Metal Gear had a huge audience and they're wont be any new Metal Gear games so they thought they might have a shot of capturing that audience.

They didn't realize is that people don't really like Metal Gear for the games, they like it for Kojima's wild ride. Without Kojima Metal Gear is nothing.
