It's basically Resident Evil 4 but with the world/enemies of Alien and The Thing mashed together. It pulls it off pretty damn well, and what it takes from is fucking fantastic. I would personally say it's deserving of that praise. It has some issues here and there (tasks feel like you're just doing maintenance around the ship, some guns are trash, some sections are a slog) but overall it's a fantastic game.
If you haven't played it OP, I'd highly recommend it. Same with the sequel, though that has its own good and bad bits too.

Both games are amazing. The sound effects are outstanding. 1 gets repetitive after a while but still worth finishing, 2 is more polished and also inclines towards action but has some very high points. I wish Visceral finally makes Dead Space 3.
