this game is not fun at all
This game is not fun at all
Ok
Boring as fuck just becau.. *ABSOLUTE EVASION*
I can't fucking beat velocidrome
the gunlance is a fucking piece of shit and I don't want to try any of the other weapons
why did I buy this fucking game instead of world
Should have bought World user, you could have beaten the entire base game without even putting in any effort.
Its just Monster Hunter. Its an autistic jap franchise and also a capcom game so thats like double AIDS.
This one in particular is the best game in the entire series, if that tells ya anything.
Try another weapon
wow
thanks for making this post. i was thinking about buying this game because i have never played a MH game before and it's on a huge sale on amazon, but this has steered me in the other way.
>this game is not fun at all
it's pretty good but brave style + almost any weapon breaks the game in half.
I already said I don't want to
none of the other weapons look cool
Oh really?
Yeah but Brave is also pretty fun to use.
I could say the same to any MH games
I rather play God Eater or Toukiden
Are you trying to drive him away? Post the Tigrex LBG.
Oh for sure, I could just see that being a complaint of someone looking for a reason to hate the game.
Shut up the Grobo Shot is cool.
Most gunlances look retarded. Most gunlances are actually just bad cause of how shelling level and type work. You may find a couple cool looking ones but they'll be functionally undone with shitty stats. The Hyper Silver Rathalos one is prob the best looking of the shitty stat gunlances, and also prob the best stats of the shitty stat gunlances cause it arbitrarily has dragon element for no fucking reason.
Theres a bajillion weapon designs in the game though.
what the heck is this weapon? GL?
I haven't even gotten past iron yet because the game is so unfun already
I don't want to use a faggoty basic bass sword when there's a fucking gun that's a lance but the whole game is so clunky and shit feeling that I just don't want to play anymore
>I haven't even gotten past iron yet
So you're like 30 minutes in?
hey user i think youre a fucking retard.
>They nerfed the CB in Gen
>And then gave its entire counter-attack shtique to Brave LS and then buffed the shit out of it
>Brave CB is bleh at best
Eh...
>World is the chad game now
Who would have thought tightening up the gameplay, making an effort to make all weapons fun and not restricting it to bullshit like the 3ds would have resulted in a good MoHun game again. The jump to mobile was a huge fucking mistake. Tri's water segments were more enjoyable than some of those train wreaks on the 3ds.
5 and a half hours of playtime
Go to a World thread, this thread is about GU.
This is a thread about how OP should have bought World.
>>>/mhg/
Oh, he's mad.
What Style are you using?
valor but I hate having to do the slow ass stance shot to make it usable and the slow ass reload to block anything and then usually the slam afterward is out of range
I tried adept but then I'm just waiting to parry stuff the whole time and I'm even more useless otherwise and it fucks up half the time and I'm stuck in that long ass animation
everything just feels so slow and clunky and I hate playing it
No, world is pretty shitty. Its basically tri-2: muh realisms. The improvements to the general gameplay kinda don't matter much when all the variety of styles and arts from XX weren't carried forward, and then you still got the archaic and retarded questionable game design of 3 carts quest failed like this is some atari game with 3 lives. Kinda shows how fucked up MH will always be when even World with all its changes deemed that stupid cart limit shit to be good enough to keep.
realism is the worst fucking buzzword description ive ever heard for world.
Gunlance is shit against small-medium monsters. I was a gunlance main but I didn't use it till I faced Tetsucabra in a quest. I used sns instead.
>and then you still got the archaic and retarded questionable game design of 3 carts quest failed like this is some atari game with 3 lives
What's wrong with having a defined failure state to encourage the player getting better and discourage just brute forceing through a quest?
I was having decent fun playing around with the usual LS or SA, but then I tried Hunting Horn with different styles and I nutted
It would be the best monhun if it didn't change so drastically, but too much is altered, lost or unfortunately added and all while still keeping a lot of the flaws they could've easily fixed. Not to mention the terrible online setup and dreadful time limits.
I think it is a good game, but it took too much of a hit to be the best. Such a shame that they didn't just keep the same style and apply the gameplay changes.
what would you do instead of three cart? It works incredibly well.
How are you against change and then insist on it in the worst place.
There are innumerable better ways than outright punishing the player by wasting their time and making them annoyed enough to stop playing. Its typical capcuçk game design though, so really only have ones self to blame for knowingly attempting to put up with it.
sorry user what the actual fuck are you talking about? If you fail multiple times you get punished. Thats how every game has worked.
The current system is perfectly fine to be honest with you, pal.
Its like destroying a tank with only a gun. Use other weapons, you dungus
No. Most games work by rewarding. You do shitty, you don't get rewarded much. You do well, you get rewarded more often.
Only literal cucks desire to be punished.
Does anyone else think the overall design of the armours and weapons of World is kinda boring compared to earlier Monster Hunter?
do you have another suggestion for a replacement mechanic? Or are you just saying it should be infinite lives, and you just get 1 reward if you die more than 3 times?
Most games punish you. Some games punish by sending you back to a checkpoint, making you redo the mission (MoHun does this) or straight up hitting you with a game over and making you go back to your last save. I guess Darksouls is unique by lowing your stats each time and SMO attacks your wallet, but you don't get a gameover if you die with no money. Every game punishes you, user.
why should I be forced to use other weapons I don't like and have to learn the moveset for
this mechanic already exists, your pay is cut by a third for each death. There's a limit because there'd be no incentive to minimise damage and risk if there wasnt a limit.
The more monster parts you break, the more rewards you get. This also has a limit based on number of monster parts, and its total health.
With the exception of most new monsters and some armour designs, it is a lot worse in that area.
I know it's considered nothing but bait at this point, but it legitimately is toned down in terms of visuals and overall style to a very noticeable degree, and it is much worse for it in my opinion.
I would argue that it is toned down even in gameplay and progression too, but at least the actual combat is fine.
you don't have to, it just might be easier. its a solution to a complaint about difficulty.
I'm not complaining about the difficulty, I'm complaining about the clunkiness
I only bought the game because I spent 20 hours in the demo just fighting valstrax over and over
its a slightly vague term, but really it just comes down to how each weapon is designed, the lance is much more maneuverable but relies more on spacing.
Most weapons are going to have some clunk to them due to the committed nature of combat in the game.
Then you should have a reasonable idea on how to use the weapon, so what's the problem?
Checkpoints and saves in most games are rarely more than 2-3 minutes away from getting back to where you were. Failing a quest in MH is usually always late into the quest, 10-15+ minutes in. Even SMB3 on the fuckin NES had implemented World retention if you game over'd, and its truly only archaic arcade or atari games (or capcom games) that treated game overs with serious stress.
Probably the most punishing a game felt like, if you were absolutely terrible at it, were Zelda games. You game over after 20 hearts and 4 fairies, then you restart with 3 hearts and empty bottles, so it was some prep effort to go back healing up and collecting more fairies, if also you were too dumb to just hard reset back to your save.
The bigger issue is how carts are pooled. Often, you're punished with a quest failure because of someone else's mistakes. Few people rack up 3 carts on their own, but even if one of those people were in your party, you and two others fail only because one player was bad. They feel bad cause they suck at the game and are spending more time running back to the battle than actually playing, then they feel double-bad after the guaranteed insta-kick for dragging everyone else down. The competitive animosity among the MH community is retarded when its literally just a PvE co-op game. It's inexecusably bad game design.
Both brave and adept ruin the game because it actually makes you worse.
You shouldn't be rewarded for getting hit, might as well stand there all day.
because velocidrome and his army of tiny nigger faggots are impossible to hit and have no tells for their attacks and completely change position in an instant and also have none of the holy shit it's a fucking dragon with rocket wings cool factor to distract me from the shitty feeling of the game
>committed nature of combat
I really just don't like this or having to deal with so many bullshit items that are also extremely clunky
huhuhu unga small monster hard monster hunter general in spoilers bunga
listen dude the monsters improve further in, but im doubting if you are actually going to like the game if you dislike the combat, the range of weapons, and the item management.
I already don't like the game which is why I've played 5 hours of it and then stopped
excellent.
time to delete the thread then friendo
what makes you think GL is any more fun in World?
because I played the demo for both and it felt and sounded less like shit in that game even though everything else looked and sounded worse
jesus. time to git gud at ranged
I can't stand owning a game and not playing it
I feel like I have to convince myself to like and play everything I have to completion because why the fuck did I buy it in the first place
>dreadful time limits
there's time limits?
Stop being a baby and just use other weapons, literally one of the main selling points of the series is weapon diversity. But if you're still gonna cry about wanting to use your shitty stick gun, then all I have to say is GIT GUD
you don't. you just need to git gud at the one you do like. but obviously thats too big of an ask
because you made a mistake you fucking moron.
stop being such a neurotic cunt.
why should I try to get better at a game that isn't fun to play
i cant understand what is wrong with you, just stop playing it. this is the most fucking moronic thread i've experienced on Yea Forums in ages. I sincerely hope i'm just falling for a troll.
Unironically way more fun than World. XX is basically like a theme park of all things MH and I love it.
right. you said you don't like how you can't beat the literal first enemy in the game with your weapon of choice. I know for a fact that he can easily be defeated with said weapon. you autistically refuse to try any other weapon or strategy, and for some reason you can't simply stop playing without having a massive sperg out online.
so what exactly is your actual purpose?
You're wrong
I like when people shit on these games and Monster Hunter.
I feel like they pander to a very strange niche of "Hardcore" gamer nerds that I can't relate to, but also sort of pity.
if I don't finish a game I've bought I'm immensely distraught by it
how can I not play a game I spent 20 hours of a demo on
sorry i meant Dark Souls and Monster Hunter*
to find a way to force myself to like the game and keep playing it
You're not even trying anymore, fag
it's voluntary stockholm syndrome.
guys, I'm maining charge blade, when do I stop uprgading the Elite Blade set and into another path?
well, in that case your only option is to suffer. which I'm totally okay with, personally.
get a therapist.
why do people always think I'm trying to shitpost or bait
I always post my honest thoughts yet it seems like everyone treats me like a fucking joke or that I'm intentionally trying to be stupid or whatever the hell and it makes me really angry
what the fuck do you think I would have to gain from bullshitting on an anonymous image board you dumb fuck
...
I meant limited time to do the event quests, and the raid-like events such as Kulve Taroth are bad too. Limited time event outfits and weapons are a byproduct aswell.
I think it's irredeemable, shitty design. Everyone else in the world seems to love stuff like that though, maybe it's the feeling that they're special for having it? I don't know.
You can branch out and go a few different paths.
At level 2 you can upgrade it to the Maccao CB, which you can branch into a generic ice CB or the Malfestio CB
At level 3 you can upgrade it to a generic CB, which can become a Tigrex CB or a generic thunder CB, which can be upgraded to a better generic thunder CB.
At the same level you can upgrade it to the Rathian CB, which can become the Gold Rathian CB later.
And at level 6 you can upgrade it to the Zamtrio CB, which can be upgraded to the second form Zamtrios CB.
I disagree
ah that, yeah, it's a bit shit. I'd be fine if you had limited time to get the initial quest, but i should be able to farm the shit for it any time I want.
the problem with kulve is you're essentially stuck doing duo's with a retarded chinese kid at this point
cheers. wasn't sure where to go because every branch is a massive step back on raw and sharpness with no idea whats ahead
Okay zoom-zoom, it's time for your medicine. Please don't bite me or your mother again, or you might get a small present instead of a big one for being a good boy.
aerial hammer is fun
Well yeah, of course it isn't fun. All Monster Hunter games suck.
shit user why are you playing monhun without the monhun bible?
mhgu.kiranico.com
you think a drooling wordldbab like me can make heads or tales of that
Kiranico is piss-easy to use. Just search what you're looking for in the search bar, or choose your weapon and scroll down/Ctrl+F to find what you want.
Actually thinking on this, it's really weird that World got a separate wiki when Kiranico and the regular Monster Hunter wiki already exist.
who wants hear about the time I met the worst hunter ever?
>be me, Hunter since Tri
>open a Turns Room For Hyper monsters
>about to post a mission when a HR4 guy joins
>it's ok, I've seen a fair amount of hunters with low HR rekt some Event Hypers before
>I post a mission for a Hyper Royal Ludroth
>banana lizerd is EZ AF. even if you have shitty armor shouldn't give you much trouble
>mission start, everything's going well, I'm kicking banana boi's Ass
>dude double carts and decides to keep his sorry ass away from the monster
>I think to myself: ok he's probably the aggressive kind of noob, he probably got his ass handed to himself and decides not to risk carting again
>the hunt goes pretty alright, return to lobby and it's his turn to select a mission
>Low rank Glavenus
>lolwut.jpeg
>dude this is a hyper room
>guess it can't be helped, noobs will be noobs
>during the hunt I notice he doesn't even heal
>"cheap bastard" I think completely ignoring the fact that he took literally all the supplies
>I have to use all my lifepowders on him because he wouldn't heal at all
>good lord how can someone be this awful at playing?
>my turn to pick: hunt Mr Krabs, Rathian and Nibbel (a simple High rank quest, monsters that doesn't even hit that hard)
>quest start, Mr Krabs goes down not without taking the noob down with him
>rathian time
>why the fuq is he not healing for fucks sake?
>cheap bastard wants me to do all the work and heal him on top of that
>he carts, again.
>last monster Nibbel
>at this point he's scared shitless and went back to staying away from battle
>but wait here's where the fun starts
>nibbel doesn't give a fuck about how far away you are from him, as long as you are in the same area he can come out under your feet and bite you
>I see his life vanish, still alive somehow.

why does everything have three sharpness meters? different levels of sharpness+?
fextralife going for the normiebux. things a still a mess after a whole year, gamefaqs boards are more informative.
The sharpness meters are because of the Handicraft skill, which increases the length of the sharpness gauge and can add additional colors depending on the weapon level. So the top meter is without the skill, middle is Handicraft+1, and bottom is Handicraft+2.
weapons have tiers of sharpness (colour), and the length of each of these tiers can vary.
>cheap bastard
in MHFU I horded Honey and purposely only used normal potions to savour muh sweet honey

Got Hayabusa Feather this weekend, and Conquered Hellblade EX (that's 4 down, 12 more to go) slowly working my way through all content, starting to experiment with Athena as well. Game is great.
6 months ago I got laughed out of there for asking a question about world.
ask a question about 4U/GU and your faced with a wall of bingposts
I admire your dedication. I got burned out after conquering Rustrazor EX and starting on Crystalbeard and Boltreaver. I'll go back at some point.
>get told to use the the weapons
>"Um first off...fuck you"
Haha, epic.
>he runs back to camp to take a nap

in all my years playing Monster Hunter I've never seen anyone reach this level of incompetence before
and I've played with people who used Wiimote and nunchuck as their preferred controller settings
anyway how's the hunt Yea Forums?
Fighting EX hellblade with anything that has adept guard is one of the most fun things in MHGU.
I only have lagombi and garuga remaining for my deviants
>start playing a MH
>dedicate myself to a single weapon at first
>start becoming more and more disillusioned with the barebones moveset for whatever weapon I'm using
>try out a few weapons to diversify my play, picking about 3 other weapons
>try to craft every elemental variant of every weapon type I'm using
>get bored of crafting before G-rank
>stop playing
>every time
Fix me, Yea Forums.
>Being disloyal to your wife.
You're not broken, you just never worked right.
try gunning.
gunning gave new life to 3U's endgame
Man it felt good beating the living shit out of Abissal Lagi with HBG
went from taking forever to kill him. down to less than 5 minutes
>still have to do Rustlord, Deadeye, Thunderlord, Grimclaw, and Dreadking
On the bright side I cleared all of Gens deviant monsters to level 10 so its only 5 quest remaining for them in Ultimate.
I've tried everything, and this happens in every MH game I've played, FU and onwards. I even stopped playing World two hunts from beating the "story".
Are you not parrying the fuck out of everything with valor LS?
"i bought this game because i played 20 hours of the demo but i dislike it because it playes the same as the demo" sounds nothing but bait.
not understanding online etiquette is semi-forgivable, mostly because I have no idea how all that works (and why I'm still doing fucking village quests) but completely fucking up the most basic of gameplay staples is astounding, since presumably he clawed his way up to glavenus prior
How does someone this bad even get to HR4?
Gets carried.
>World is first MH
>Love it
>Pick up GU because people say it's way better and has tons more content
>Everything kills me
Huh, I guess World is really for casuals. Here I am, thinking I was a decent Glaive user.
try a normal gunlance with aerial style, it's super easy to use and works until high rank
>I was a decent Glaive User
you should've bought 4U instead...
>Here I am, thinking I was a decent Glaive user
Honhon if you're still being trash at the game with the victory stick you my friend are ultra shit. Using an IG alone is a sign of a shitter.
How far into GU are you?
World gave the players tons of new options, but most monsters are as slow as ever. Same happened in Tri when they introduced monster stamina so monsters could get tired, but they got nothing to compensate for it. In P3rd the ""compensation"" was just giving monsters more health
>glaive users
mother of god
Hey, Valor Glaive is pretty fun. You can make the Kinsect go bananas attacking on its own in addition to your own attacks.
>tightening up the gameplay, making an effort to make all weapons fun
World feels loose and sloppy compared to the methodical and precise gameplay of the old titles and most of the weapons were straight up ruined.
>Glaive user
>Not glorious SWORD AND SHIELD MASTER RACE
I have the exact opposite opinion
MHGU is pretty much nonstop fun BUT it is also unironically the most soulless MH game
Based, started using SnS on GU and it's the most fun I've had with the game so far, only complaint is it's just a little hard to reach some tails
I transferred my saves from Gen, haven't started Ultimate content yet.
I noticed I have a couple of village quests remaining that I haven't done in regular Gen yet, but these absolutely kick my ass.
Any advice on how good gear I should have or anything else aside from git gud to tackle Out of the Fry Pan?
This was my clownsuit for the DE
That's because it's just a collection of "hey remember this monster/area/character/whatever?" moments. And the special effects are so fucking ugly, on top of murdering the framerate.
>not "flying across the map at light speed and granting death of a thousand cut" aerial glaive
heck a bunch of world moveset came from here
Talking about SnS am i retarded or is its range slightly reduced in World? Because to me it feels like it.
Smoke bombs
which weapon was he using?
online etiquette is simple
you treat other people nicely and respect whatever mission the lobby manager posts.
stuff like healing your teammates and being supportive goes on your own account and it's considered an "extra"
See, I did that, but then that's all I did. Jump forwards, and then vault for spinning attacks. It got boring after a while, since the entire ground moveset was wasted.
holy shit those skills are garbage, what are you doing?
huh. In my case i feel like GU's sns is way shorter. i whiff a lot more in GU, while in World i just hack away
Alright, Yea Forums: FU, 3U, 4U, or GU? What weapon?
he was using Aerial GS
the Low rank Astalos one
I really hate how many weapon movesets GU butchered for the sake of justifying styles.
Yeah! Lance and.....and...........
wait, iirc aerial is bascally guild, but with jumping
it just lose the foward slam atk, but no1 use it since it just move you out of position
the infinite is still there, with the finisher too
Change Blade too.
>tfw you main DBs
>tfw we will no longer get silly weapons like this because of world
fuck
Dual Blades and GS.
Also bowguns by removing limiter removal.
Not him, but Deadeye Yian Garuga inflicts Deadly Poison, so Negate Poison stops that.
Water Atk+1 boosts the Vilcurviscera Telos's inherent elemental damage, and Deadeye is very weak to water.
Mind's Eye prevents deflection.
Repeat Offender boosts Affinity from aggression.
And Elemental Crit boosts his Water-element damage.
What's the issue? Seems perfectly fine to me.
>b-b-but muh DPS
building for element in GU is a meme.
LS already shouldn't get deflected by anything.
repeat offender is only useful for fights where you can get consistent hits in, and Garuga is not one of those.
it's also not nearly enough crit by itself to make elemental crit worthwhile.
and elemental crit itself is shit on LS because it doesn't have the increased critical modifier on element a weapon like DB does.
Just go with a standard crit boost setup instead.
I've been seeing a fuck ton of people with worthless clown suits with no skills even way into G-rank. Are these people just meme lords or legit retarded? I fail to see how even half of these can be people having a laugh, usually they end up being bad during quest and double carts or something. It blows my mind how common it is.
I'm at 6* Village now and truth to be told, it is indeed not very fun. Almost a 100 monsters sounds fun in theory, but as for now, I could just bruteforce my way through the early encounters since I do have some experience playing MonHun. But since it's not worth grinding out any of them, I'll never get to learn all of their patterns, as there's not incentive to, either.
Given the fact that this game has almost 1500 quests to do doesn't help, either.
Well he said he got Deadeye done so it seemed to work for him.
If he soloed an EX deviant with that set, it must have taken him like 30+ minutes.
Probably not even Valor LS too.
>enter turns room
>some fag clownsuitting with 0 armor skills joins too
>he leaves mid quest
every fucking time. What's the deal with these people, how on earth did they get to G-Rank without knowing this stuff?
That LS actually has 0 affinity, so it's not benefiting him at all.
Does that really matter so long as he got the quest done? EX Deviants have a fuckton of health on top of that, I expect a long fight.
Its a mix of World players who dont even study into the older games' skill point mechanic, them being carried, and GU's low and high rank is rather easy to brute force through
most of them get quite the rude awakening in G tho, esp those guys rushing Ahtal Ka and get 1 shot during the 2nd bug stage
Repeat offender gives affinity
Stop raging, spastic. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about.
It doesn't have to be a long fight if you don't use a fucking retarded set.
lmao
ok buddy
Who TF soloes EX's. Get off YouTube you sap.
well to be fair, unless you evade everything perfectly, high chance you'll get poisoned
negating poison is always good, same for the dreadqueen situation
still, building for water weapon and not using regular mizu/ludroth ds is a waste
LMAO
fuck off then, your "achievement" means fucking nothing
Note that I didn't say anything about negate poison
>Fighting Ahtal-Ka as a Prowler
>Climb on top of the Neset
>Use the jump attack and fly over all the junk piles
>Start attacking the silk sacs directly
Feels pretty good
>meanwhile I'm just running Silverwind X with Weakness Exploit
Well it gets the job done especially with Valor DBs.
Maybe World is a better game for you.
You fuck off scrub.
Again, why does the time matter at all? Unless you're trying to prove some record on Youtube who cares at all?
>the gunlance is a fucking piece of shit and I don't want to try any of the other weapons
Gunlance is absolute bottom tier if you solo.
Go. Learn. Other. Weapons.
Nicely done. That's what I like about this game there's no real meta at the higher echelons.
They get carried by their friends, by bored G Rank Hunters who don't think of the repercussions or simply never leave a 4 person group, so they never learn the basics of the basic and somehow become super confident despite the reality. Ofcourse they never do Village either, or god forbid a weapon tutorial or even read the control schemes.
I too wonder why they are even playing these games at all.
>Evasion+2
>Evade Dist
>on DB
>when you're using a style with a "press Y to not die button"
>and an on demand guard point
To be fair, the fact that you can just stumble into using a garbage weapon and not realize it is kind of a problem in itself. MH would be a whole lot better if all the weapons were actually good, and not just whatever the developers' favorites at the time were.
dude, you are fighting low monsters. you will encounter later on stronger version of the monster, so yes, you'll learn their pattern. hell, some monsters that you encounter in low rank have g rank versions AND a deviant (pic related)
Don't do all quests.
Get to high rank, and you can pick almost any armor set you want and stick with it forever.
>there's no real meta at the higher echelons
There's always a "meta". Some choices are always better than others. In MH, some choices are a lot, lot better than others, because the games are very poorly balanced.
It's a shame too, because besides Valor LS, Valor GL is the only other one that almost scratches that 4U CB itch,
What can I say, I like the set.
I think what would fix your problem is if as soon as it goes multiplayer, if a player carts once they have some form of penalty, and twice boots them from the mission, not everyone.
This would totally fix it.
Alternatively user, there is a very simple solution
Play with some friends ya loser
>not using valor GL and blast enemies into oblivion
and that chart need to be updated. Lately people's been running alchemy SnS and hunting horn with pretty good time and efficiency
>dude let just give one of the fastest fucker screen-wide range attacks, lol. add bleed too while we are at it
>lets update the lackluster range atk into something they definitely wont see it coming too
like they didnt learn anything from lucent narga's spikes spam
I honestly like GU CB more from a design standpoint, if it had something like World's sliding slash to make up for its shit mobility and a little bit of extra damage on its axe combos with ED2, it'd be great. 4U CB was just a giant problem from a design perspective, its only drawback was a somewhat long animation on the AED, but it's really hard to actually design challenging fights around a weapon like 4U CB. GU CB actually has to play Monster Hunter.
>You game over after 20 hearts and 4 fairies
fucking how?!
Valor GL turns into total garbage by the end of high rank.
Just be glad it isn't White Narga. At least you can learn how to properly avoid SW Nargs bullshit. White Narga is the very definition of an unfun fight.
Good joke!
I don't even know what half this shit is meant to imply
>tfw magnet spike
Every musou is piss easy with this weapon except elz, and elz is only hard because of his health pool.
Not that user, but if they cart three times then they fail the quest, as in it won't be marked as completed on their quest log, but it'll still let them finish hunting the monster so they can at least get some carves. That way you at least get something for your perseverance, even if it isn't much, and it stops you from being able to brute force your way through the key quests.
its honestly the dumbest fucking meme chart, some brazillian ass tier reference images.
>linking to gaijinhunter
I'm out
Sorry, Nick
you need to be mentally retarded and sink hundreds of hours into it to enjoy it
sorry, would you prefer arrekz?
hm good shout on the Mizu may look into it. The Vilcurviscera is still sexy though, got acres of white
I'd prefer someone who isn't a fucking "influencer" hypeman
I took a hiatus from the game because I got stuck on silverwind nargacuga and literally no one wanted to do rustrazor.
I just love the transmog system!
I just find it dumb how they take its cornerstone and slap it onto other weapons as if to spite it. 4U CB is probably the most fun I've had playing Monster Hunter, and I've been playing since Freedom.
GU's CB just doesn't feel as good or satisfying. I'm not going to argue against that 4U's CB wasn't over-tuned, but good god was it fun. If they had nerfed its motion values instead of fundamentally changing its playstyle, I would have been satisfied.
Nerfing 4U CB's motion values doesn't change the fact that it simply gets to bypass all of the usual MH gameplay with its bullshit. Even if you nerfed it into the ground, that would just turn it into 4U Lance which takes forever to kill anything but is completely invulnerable while doing it.
>Worldsperm getting exposed by a real MH game
BASED
Striker CB is the best you'll get, but the red shield nerf is the most annoying part. Flying back 50 meters from a guard point is bullshit.
>fact that it simply gets to bypass all of the usual MH gameplay with its bullshit.
Which would have been completely in-line with what Gen is already doing, and doubled down on in Ultimate.
I admit that the CB is OP in 4U and broken in World, but I still liked the actual gameplay a lot.
I just want my guardpoints to reset to default position and for fluid changes between the two forms, that's all I'm asking for. Chuck a small recovery animation on the end of them or nerf the damage/motion values to Gunlance tier if you have to, but no more follow throughs please.
Also,
>SAED.
>Having a drawback.
lol
>4u evasion+3 lance meme build
>literally 100% invi when chaining jumps
shit was cash, and it combo so well with the full kushala X set's look too
I guess that's fair, but honestly MH has been going off the rails ever since MH4.
At that point it just feels like you're playing a clunkier Greatsword with KO. I tried to enjoy it when Gens was originally released, but having to fundamentally relearn a weapon I enjoyed so much after one game just made for a sour experience.
For better or worse I was 'encouraged' to play other weapons.
META varies by monster in MH
Dunno if you still play, but brave DBs were my secondary because their GPs are actually rewarding. CB is definitely clunkier and shittier without a doubt. I just played it because I loved 4U.
God I fucking love valor ig with insect majeure. Feels so good constantly launching the bugger out and recalling him with my combos.
I wasn't actually aware Brave DB had a guard point, is there a good video showing it off? I'm still playing, but I've been exclusively gunning in Gens Ultimate.
Sure, but it's basically always the same weapons in the top 3 for a given game on any monster, just with their spots shuffled around a bit. Or in some cases like GU, it's just the same weapon every time.
Some weapons are just OP, and other weapons are just bad. And some skill combinations will just almost always be optimal.
I agree
It's a PvE game, as long as you can beat the majority of quests with a weapon then it can't be "bad".
Nope.
This one is pretty good MHXX 3ds, but same stuff.
GS, IG or HBG had the top spot for every single hunt in 4U. Valor HBG has the top spot for almost single hunt in GU (minus the one or two where LS is better). GS and Hammer have the top spot for almsot every hunt in FU (I don't remember how many fights HBG wins). HBG, LBG and Bow dominate every other weapon in 3U.
There's always a small handful of weapons that nothing else can even remotely compete with.
>No, world is pretty shitty. Its basically tri-2: muh realisms
I guess that's why I'm having alot of fun emulating 3U. I wish I could do online though, doing some of these quests is taking me too long .
Kill times don't fucking matter.
despite the corny intros his tutorials are still nice and basic
>kill times don't matter
>he likes staying in the same instance for 49 fucking minutes
He just rattles off movelists, he doesn't actually go into how to play a weapon efficiently or their objective strengths and weaknesses, because that might end up triggering his viewers who just want to hear that everything is viable and great and you can play however you like.
>instance
begone MMOshitter
I agree. Gaijinhunter > Arekkz.
>this anal blasted he has to delude himself into thinking MH isn't instance central
rattling off movelists going through one button at a time is exactly what helped me in 4U and many others apparently. discussing things such head sniping whatnot are better suited for other videos when players feel more used to the controls. I only see gaijin tutorials being linked to new players anyway.
>everything is viable and great
even gaijin points out which combos are better and what styles shine more than others
>you can play however you like
yes that's the general MH philosophy
>yes that's the general MH philosophy
Pretty sure the MH philosophy has always been to use everything at your disposal and finding the best ways to hunt monsters. That's what the devs encourage at least. The shitty fanbase just twisted it into something more welcoming and positive in their eyes, because anything else is elitism.
Seconding this
I really like world and while some weapons definitely feel better to play in world a lot feel actually worse compared to old mh
What are you babbling on about?
I don't understand why from the 5* village quests, i have the blue check instead of the yellow one.
and they say the participation award generation thing was just a meme
>REEEEE you must play the meta!
is the basic translation
What? I thought I was being pretty straightforward.
>Developers' vision: Players are supposed to experiment and find what works best for any given challenge and make use of anything available to them
>Players' vision: You're supposed to just use whatever you think looks cool and stick to that, just have fun, nothing else matters, do whatever you want
I was thinking more about what weapons to use and even what armor skills you like having.
I love utility such as stamina skills and don't care much for all the crit wank that goes in the meta.
Reminder, Do not use it and Everything is viable are non-arugments and are used to shut down conversations and criticism of these games. You add nothing to the conversation or criticism by saying these statements, and overall deny the obvious balancing issues that has persisted in this series for 10 years now.
everyone hates those limited events
it's just crapcom trying to do the whole "live-services" thing with World that other AAA games are all doing
for a moment I thought you were complaining about the usually 50 minutes you have to kill a monster
Who cares about balancing in a PvE game?
something something shitpost
Is it me or is the monster on the box art is almost impossible to beat in the demo? O had no problem beating him on my first time in the game itself but in the demo I got 3 carted constantly and could only manage to get it limping.
A good monster specific build is far more effective and optimized than a general DPS build, but I understand if you have too much difficulty or not enough imagination to find those diamonds in the rough.
You should, because it feels like shit to play something bad.
Like Gunlance.
>he doesn't understand the point of handicaps in a PvE game
If the game becomes too easy, use a worse weapon. If you're struggling, use an OP weapon.
>this is what the MonHun community is made of now
This is fucking pathetic. Fuck World and fuck Capcom.
should I buy monster hunter world
Nah, beating hard content with a shit weapon is rewarding as hell.
You just hate fun and actively want to take away variety from the players because of your autistic obsession with "balance".
If everything is equal, nothing is special.
If the devs wanted everyone to use the same set for everything, why did they put in things like Steelshell talisman?
Its fucking bullshit how weak sns feels in world man and fuck that back hop shield slam. Give me back oils goddamit
got a readable version of the comic that's used for most of alchemy?
Monhun 3u still the best
I pity the fools who can't into water hunts
World and XX are both trash, bring back real MH.
>friends
>on Yea Forums
get out of here normalfag
FU was the last real MH, faggot.
you can go back any time you want
>Tightening up gameplay
World has a ton of problems, this is typical for a monster hunter generation as it starts out with a lot of flaws and fixes them over their mobile and G versions of the game
But World doesn't have any new versions in sight, and instead seems to be adopting the MMO style "Just throw on harder end game shit" rather then launching a new version of the game with new monsters, new armors, new skills, and new weapon paths.
MHWs 'end game' isn't even fun either due to how they turned the RNG up to 11 with the upgrade paths in postgame.
I don't want to go back, I want something new that's as good as the old shit.
wow...the true monster hunter
Checkmate.
4U didn't fix shit about 4, GU didn't fix shit about Gen, so I'm not expecting Iceborne to fix anything about World.
>LBG
>top tier in world
lmao
I just wish they'd stop bloating monster health, make your weapon upgrades meaningful, and make you learn the boss moves and AI like how you were suposed to in the past, everything is bullshit fast now with heavy hitting attacks, the "Hit and don't get hit" mentality was replaced with "Kill it faster then you run out of potions" which is shit.
You should do your own research outside of Yea Forums. This place is just shitposting heaven.
SnS just feels so terrible in world and I can't really pinpoint why
loved that thing in gen and gen u but hate it in world
Yeah he's pretty hard in the demo. The sets the demo gives you are pretty shit.
I think its the delay between attacks. R+X, X, A, A string in genU felt snappy and fast but in world you can feel a delay and is much slower. The shitty sfx on hitting monsters dont help either
Where did I say anything about World, you retard?
It's called hitstop. World has massive hitstop on all weapon attacks, so everything feels really sluggish. GU meanwhile has barely any hitstop at all, so you attack lightning fast.
Go play world then
Sure the cinematic barrier experience when playing with friends and that hand holding suits you more
Hitstop was a mistake then. They should've added it only on moves with high mv like the sns shield slam. The basic sns moveset feels so gutted because of it
any suggestions where to start? I don't trust gaming journalism or youtube shills.
t. jim "fatbrit" sterling
Anywhere but here.
Depends on if you think you might like to go back and try previous games in the series at some point or not. If you do then it's not a good starting point because it'll instill bad habits in you that will fuck you over in older games, if not then go for it.
>has bought a wii u
fag
Agreed on the bad habit thing all I ever hear from world people when I see them play older titles is "world did this this way", "this should be in world", "in world I didn't need to do this", "I'm glad they changed this in World" etc etc UGH
it was the special MH3 edition. pretty good deal
Bait, if you can't beat Velocidrome then there's no way in hell you beat Great Maccao.
No, not being able to beat Velocidrome itself isn't what gives this away as bait, I truly believe there are people who are that shit.
Unironically Projared
just download the 'demo' version
What was the first monster you carted to?
In GU? Glavenus fucked me up in that 3* quest, could not get away from the spin attack in time.
Great jaggi
You sound like a homo that was bitching on reddit about "what monster hunter game's should I play if I started with world?!?"
Gun lance in GenU is fucking awesome by the way
As worldsperm myself, playing GU was refreshing in a lot of ways, like the roster and better lobbies due to no SoS. Ended up playing it over twice as long as World.
Smokebombs and valor GS. It's the perfect weapon and style combo to destroy jho and tigrex, but you have to be more careful with narga. Also enter the far side of the arena first.
can you play this offline or are those monster hunter games online only?
oh sorry my bad m8
They're offline games with option multiplayer.
tfw still playing through mhgu village quests
I like to do all of the village quests before I can start online, anyone else like this?
and how fun are they singleplayer? i only ever seen people fawn over coop aspect of these games
So actuall MH fans, should i get this or world?
Have you played 4u? If you haven’t it’ll have a ton of new monsters for you to fight. Otherwise it’ll be do you want graphics or styles/arts.
Havent played any
GenU has four or five times more content, World has better visuals and QoL improvements out the ass, and an upcoming expansion that you'll have time to catch up for. Which do you value more?
youtube.com
How are they aiming so quickly after an adept evasion? I get using the soft-lock to quickly turn your camera around, but I'm unable to get my reticle to appear that quickly for vertical adjustments.
Did you know that you weren't supposed to fight him there?
I've never played online (because fuck playing with randoms) and I can say it's pretty fun.
>join turns room
>hr60+ retards post piss easy quests
>my turn
>post the fire emblem quest
>these carried niggers boot me rather than try
Fucking asswipes. I just wanted to be the first Afro Marth.
Older games have Village and Guild quests. Village is singleplayer only and Guild is either singleplayer or multiplayer. Monsters in Guild quests have health adjusted for multiplayer, but it can be done solo just fine. The endgame content(G-rank, only in some games) is only in Guild.
World no longer has quest separation, and instead will scale monster health up when someone joins your quest. There is some endgame content specifically designed for multiplayer though.
Depends do you want the content now and don't want to wait for the new expansion, don't care for some quality of life changes and better graphics get generations.
If you can wait for more content, have no problem with the changes and like the graphical update get world.
You can not go wrong with either product.
Do you veer more casual or more hardcore?
If the former then the armor skill system in GU will confuse your little mind so better stick with World.
this. I have no fucking idea what im doing. but at least im not wearing blademaster gear
MHGU: Actual monster hunter game, an improvement in both quantity and quality.
MHW: Poor man's darksouls, devoid
i bet you are one of these fags who look up steam reviews which looks like "1200 hours played - it isnt fun" and think "oh gosh looks like it isnt worth at all" but ignores reviews which get into every detail
Welcome to MH, when it's run by sonyfags.
You see what it was like when Tri was first released.
If you are new to the series, I'd say world because it's the easiest one to get into thanks to a lot of quality of life tweaks. If you end up enjoying world a lot, and want fight a bunch more monsters and are willing to take a hit on qol, then pick up GU after because it'll give you a lot more content at the expense of some clunkiness.
what do i need to do to ensure monhun switch has universal climbing and gliding
What have you gotten out of your Neset set?
You can't say that or the casuals will get mad at you and start talking about sales.
shoo shoo nazi frog
Quite a lot, and it is a versatile set. The problem is trying to cram in opposing skills. I wanted Sharpness +2 and Mind's Eye and Razor Sharp; that's hard to fit on Neset. I have a mixed set with those 3 skills AND Status +2 on top.
What's the difference between gen and GU other than the platform it's on? I'm interested in checking out the differences between 'old' MH and world but don't have a switch, should I bother with it on 3ds or is there a better alternative?
imo both GU and World are shit. Iceborne mite b good.
play XX, its GU, but in jap, and fan translated
there're quite a lot more content in GU comparing to gen, so its worth a try
Or just play 4u
Gu has two new styles, more monsters, and a third difficulty level(g rank).
...
Getting opposite sets on a Neset is extremely difficult because it's based on what you gem in.
If the game is too easy, use Guild with no hunter arts
If the game is too hard, use Brave
New maps, new bosses, more styles, more monsters, harder difficulty level, more weapons, more armor, and probably some of the hardest fights in the series.
Unless you have some unnatural mad on against the switch, get GU.
Oh, and EX deviants are balls hard if you choose a non cheese style. Each of them have at least one, one hit kill attack unless you stack up an ungodly amount of defense, which you aren't going to do since you that requires weapons and skills to get it high enough. And even then, some attacks will still kill you.
Yeah so that's the limit of the set. I find other sets more interesting now that I've almost hit the limit of everything I can do with Neset - and also I don't feel like maxing out my box limit with charms.
>Trying to solo EX dreadqueen
>Half of my health gone because her legs grazed me a bit
Also fuck that grounded charged fireblast.
MH sells very well but it's niche gameplay wise. It's not for everyone and most MH fans respectively agree.
That's never going to happen, thanks to World being so popular with casuals
Jabami sensei!
The dual Khezu quest fucked me up for some reason
it's better than world in most ways
anyone has the old pic of GU vs World monster count?
Neset depends entirely on your talismen, if you don't have a good one, it's going to be shitty.
>Do EX dreadqueen with a hunter horn that gives us poison immunity
>Becomes fun
Even a good talisman wont get you Sharpness +2, Razor Sharp, Mind's eye and Status +2 on Neset.
That's just what you're aiming for with the charm you got. There's plenty of skills Neset can get that you can't with that clown suit.
It's outdated now, not sure if anyone made a new version.
bait
>heat gauge
no it's trash just like the normal lance on any style but striker
EX deviants are meant to be a special kind of hell. It took me forever to get a competent team to defeat EX Azurebolt. That mother fucker makes everyone its bitch. And don't get me started on Bloodbath. Anytime I've done her EX quest with randoms we have to cheese it with flash bombs and guns.
Exactly the same as you but change the wiiu with 3u for the vita with frontier g
me too
>mfw you enter the cave in the marshlands, the khezu begins to hang on the ceiling and the second khezu arrive
>Ultimate edition compilation game vs non ultimate game with mostly new monsters
This comparison's a bit stupid, yeah? Devs have said Iceborne is going to bring the game up to 4U in terms of content.
What are those grey traps?
Yeah but not that one, nor any similar to that having opposing skills.
still less monster than GU, tho
not that this is necessarily a good thing, most of the GU fights feels less polished than they should be
>mostly new monsters
Where are the new monsters? and no, bat rathian, ice rathian, exploding spike rathian, and Pink Deviljho aren't new monsters.
I want to respect your opinion ,since you are just an user and i have no way of telling how you are in real life. But damm, what you said sounds so much like whinny journos
Yeah neset and elderfrost are a godsend in that fight.
Bloodbath is such a fun fight especially when its all steaming and shit.
>most of the GU fights feels less polished than they should be
that's just the way pre-gen 3 monsters are
Dude like 95% of MH monsters are derived from a handful of like 5 skeletons. You have made a scientific breakthrough by discovering this!
It's just the monster count as it stood in mid-late 2018, not shitting on World here. Some GU monsters like the dromes aren't really worth counting.
>that's just the way pre-gen 3 monsters are
what are you trying to say user?
right, and that's why world is shit, because they cut down on the total number of monster skeletons in game. No Leviathans, bug monsters, or Snake monsters, yet they brought back garbage like Piscine wyverns.
I just want my Nerscylla armor in World and I'd be happy
Have you ever noticed how much less sophisticated the fights and AI are when it comes to gen 1 and 2 monsters versus anything that came out after Tri? You can easily tell how much more polish went into them. There are a few monsters that came out late in Gen 2's life such as Nargacuga but for the most part it's glaringly obvious.
We probably will get Leviathans back in Iceborne considering that Lagiacrus is pretty much fully finished. He was only cut because he just simply wouldn't work in the tighter maps of World. Also Lavasioth in World is actually fairly fun to fight now since he does more than just
>dive into lava
>pop head out
>look left and right
>dive back in
for the entire fight.
>Monster Hunter game
>fun
bing bing
I actually beat him in that quest, since I realized the only disadvantage I had was statwise, so as long as I played smart I would win eventually.
Was very disappointed that the game decides you ran away from it regardless of loss or victory
It feels good to not get tricked
Bringing back the Piscine Wyverns first was a really dumb idea. It's one of the least versatile skeletons in the series, they really should have gone for something else.
I like the unknown invasions, especially when the Glavenus one just dumps you right at his feet.
>Iceborne is going to bring the game up to 4U in terms of content
They didn't, they just said the expansion would be equivalent to previous G expansions in terms of content.
Which doesn't actually promise much at all, because FU and 3U barely added anything in terms of raw content.
They had to give it my boy Agnaktors gimmick and made it worse on Lavasioth
But this time the monster will be BLUE! And have more HP!
And yet all that "sophistication" just results in shittier fights most of the time.
I'd gladly take any gen 2 monster over garbage brute wyverns that do nothing but back away from you and charge/roll/whatever with the occasional hipcheck.
C O P E
Seeth
>And yet all that "sophistication" just results in shittier fights most of the time.
The deviant monsters actually fix the terrible Gen 1/2 AI for the monsters that have one and that's pretty much one of the selling points to buying GU.
You don't like fun fights? You just like Rathian reskin charging at you and doing a tail spin? You are entitled to your legendary shit taste I suppose.
I said gen 2, not gen 1. Gen 2 monsters are top fun. What have later generations given us? Barroth? Uragaan? Fucking Nibelsnarf? Najarala?
Who the fuck likes fighting any of these fucks?
>hates Barroth
>enjoys Gravios
Ohnonononahahaha
4U Gravios is a significantly better fight than fucking Barroth.
>FU
>HBG is hard to use due to mobility but really satisfying
>jump directly to World
>It's really fun, but it blows everything else out of the water so much it's not even funny
just came back with my crew to kill AT kushala. with 3 sticky HBG with 30%+ KO we got like 20 KOs, we didn't even use status. poor fucker didn't have a chance
>Not liking brute wyverns
jesus christ user
Like I said, you are entitled to your shit taste.
*shuffles away from you*
>4U gravios
he's exactly the fucking same as the previous gen's? What are you talking about.
I had to farm this fucker for the HBG and he is hands down one of the worst monsters in the entire series. I have no idea why they brought him back in GU
Gravios is and always has been fucking awful.
>Worldfag
Why the fuck i can't dodge ANYTHING in FU? There are less IF in evade or something?
Reminder that World is the best game in the series and anyone who disagrees are just nostalgia fags
I don't agree with this but I do think that anyone who unrelentingly shits on it is a Nintendo fanboy
As someone who started with World and went back to play other games, World is by far the worst MH I've played
Definitely
Everything is all bone and metal.
I’d rather have my colorful hammer drill back
>he's exactly the fucking same as the previous gen's?
His moveset is decently fun now that the tiny stubby tail doesn't knock you back anymore, and you can fight him with rank-appropriate sharpness levels without bouncing.
He's also significantly faster than before in G rank, and gets that new fireball barrage attack.
Just use a different weapon dipshit.
Start with SnS
post your games including world with screencap :)
if you have a digital edition of world then go to the character creation screen and enter today's date as the name
i'm willing to wager that you are a nintendo fanboy who doesn't own world or any game older than maybe 3U
Are you thinking of Basarios? Gravios is Basarios' asshole older brother. No one complains about Basarios.
Nobody complains about Basarios because he's easy. Barroth is also incredibly easy.
Honestly, it seems like people just want easy monsters.
3u is the best
fuck mounting and elevation on maps
Barroth is harder than Gravios though. Gravios is just a big lumbering retard who behaves exactly the same as Rathian, but at half speed. He's just a boring faggot with too much health.
Well yeah, I just wanna farm shit in peace and not have to deal with obnoxious bullshit.
First of all, Gravios is based off Diablos more so than Rathian.
Second, the two are completely different fights in every way other than "the two monsters both have a charge and a tail whip".
Yeah come on that's bullshit, if you know even the first thing about MH Barroth has literally no way to hurt you. All he can do is waste your time by flinging mud around the place.
Tri's Barroth is the hardest earlygame monster in the series. They nerfed the hell out of him in future releases though.
>Tri's Barroth is the hardest earlygame monster in the series
He
Has
No

You
Only retards ever carted to Barroth because they thought they can just run at him head on, as soon as you understand basic positioning, he can't do shit to you
>Tri's Barroth is the hardest earlygame monster in the series.
Tribab detected.
>t.didn't play tri.
You didn't play Tri, stupid. You had no green sharpness and would randomly bounce off his body, which he could follow up with a OHKO.
Alatreon also got nerfed to hell. Barioth got nerfed a bit but nowhere near as bad as these two. You're fucking casuals if you never hunted them in their original apperance.
Why is it so hard for people to accept that World did a lot of things right?
Gravios behaves exactly the same as Rathian? What? I didn't realize Rathian shat out flames after a beam shot, or swept its beam, or spammed its beam while walking, or required you to break it's damn body twice to make it stop shitting flames, or had a hitbox on its tailspin that might as well be Plesioth's hipcheck hitbox.
I don't see how the two are comparable at all.
Probably all the things it did wrong.
>and would randomly bounce off his body
There's nothing "random" about it, shitter.
What nerfs did Alatreon get other than him lowering his head more often? Which is fair because too many weapons just had no way of damaging him.
>too many weapons just had no way of damaging him
Which was a good thing, shitter. Different monsters are supposed to favor different weapons.
>did a couple things right
>did everything else wrong
It's painful to read, did the person writing this have a stroke?
You have never played a monster hunter in your life.
Everything. Notably his tailswipe which made approaching impossible was entirely removed. Plus the original Ala never lowered his head, so the only way for blademasters to break his horns was to intentionally take damage from his charge. No such luck on the Weebing.
>Plus the original Ala never lowered his head, so the only way for blademasters to break his horns was to intentionally take damage from his charge.
>this is apparently a good thing
see It encourages you to try different weapons. You're not supposed to main one weapon exclusively.
>turn Ala into a fair approachable fight for BMs
>this is somehow bad
Adjusting his head lowering doesn't sound like nerfing, it sounds like balancing to make more weapons viable instead of funneling players into just a few for one monster, which is bad.
shitters
Not an argument retard
Lightning rods. They're great against kush.
What's wrong with Tri now?
Dear god, turn those filters off and get the official PSP font installed.
nothing, it's just a catch-all non-argument. the funny part is most Yea Forums posters didn't start playing MH until the 3DS games so they have absolutely no leverage
Adept Horn is GOAT.
It's obvious, really.
Tri had some shitty elements, mainly the water segments and lack of ranged options but it's butter compared to playing the games on the 3ds.
Absolute readiness absolute evasion adept, valo. It's so fucking bloated with shit that helps you being shit at the game.
>mainly the water segments
t. got assraped by gobul. it's laughable how much of a pushover lagi is without water sections, especially in games like GU where it's overall easier in general
I disagree.
The brave evade only really works up until g rank and deviants, they deal too much damage to use the evade on em. It's really just knowing which moves to evade from. Adept does kinda make ya worse tho
Angler was my favorite monster. There wasn't any monster I didn't really like, but I will admit the water was the weakpoint of the game.
*temporal mantles your post*
Congalala, I thought it would be as fast as the other monsters so I didn't bring any potions lol.
With endgame gear you can valor tank every single monster except EX deviants. Monsters already do barely any damage through maxed out defense, and valor cuts that down to 30% of that value on top of that.
Water is fine. It was perfect in 3U in conjunction with the camera targeting the monster on the press of a button.
>I played the demo for 20 hours
>I bought the game
>I don't like the game
They're talking about the Wii version of Tri friend.
I'm aware, it was fine in Tri. I'm just saying it was perfected in 3U with the addition of being able to use the shoulder button to center the camera on the monster.
It was fun to play with someone, but now I'm alone.
I'll probably take it to GaneStop.
sauce?
>Charisma has an aerial vault too
Is there anything this Bias can't do?
No, CB was just nerfed generally.
No.
GS got gutted by nerfing the damage of the strong charge roundhouse finisher.
DB was ruined by destroying the dynamic between demon and archdemon modes 4U had. Giving demon mode access to spin2win at any time makes the weapon completely brainless and shallow.
I'd like to see what they'd do with a new Temnoceran
So again nothing to do with styles.
In DB's case it actually was to make Striker style usable, which doesn't have archdemon mode at all. And in HBG's case, it's to justify striker HBG with its Gunpowder art which is supposed to make up for the difference I guess.
OC.
SA it's fun
I miss Stiggy Ziggy.
New game when bros?
when the internal civil war at capcom monhun team is settled
Honestly that quest isnt too hard. Then again I did Guild's greatest hits quest just before, and that one absolutely kicked my arse. Until I realised the only advanced you have to do for the feather is Out of the Frying pan.
Depends. If they end up making another game for the Switch then I imagine it'll be announced this or next year, depending on whether they think it would distract from Iceborne's hype or not.
There's also the question whether they would release it simultaneously, GU took around 1 year and a half to localize most likely due to World's release.
Perfect
okay I have a important question about GU
what voice do I pick for my girl character
Irrelevant desu, real MonHan players have been playing the japanese version for a long time now.
neither is your mom but I still played her anyway
based reditor
i play longsword to trip people
>not SA exclusive in axe mode
step it up
Fair enough people are allowed to like different things it's not for everyone.
Trying to bring back classic MonHun design philosophies is a losing battle. 9 out of 10 people just want to get loot and kill dragons with friends, the intricacies of skill-based combat aren't even a blip on their radar.
Did you not pick Valor?
wahoo!
how do I use adept gunlance without waiting for the monster to attack constantly and getting stuck in that stupid parry animation and missing the attack even if I do parry
And that's a good thing.
>sunday
>nintentoddlers aren't being bullied in the playground
what happened to america? the bullies from my time would make sure the victim kill themselves, now they have become lazy faggots and now nintentoddlers vent their frustrations on the internet
sad
I swear small monsters are even more of a nuisance in GU than they normally are
I'm trying to gun Silver Rathalos and it feels like the fun police are at my neck all the fucking time. I missed when they were exclusive to confined arenas.
I did but it still feels like ass
especially because I have to even get into the mode where I can do anything while there's a million tiny fuckers gangbanging me and I have no way to keep up
>There are people ITT who missed out on 3U online
Damn...
hero shield
wyvern stake exists
Just use aerial style for the first 20 hours if you insist to play. You can get a lot of mounts and do a lot of damage. Brave is fun but Brave also wasn't in the original game, so its technically more tailored to later-game / established experience with weapon types and the monsters you're facing. The way early MH works is you generally want to figure the easiest method of play to cheese progress to grind and unlock shit that will craft the stuff you /really/ want to play with. I did aerial GS in MHG for the first long while.
Its too bad they nerfed Adept GS in MHGU cause that was pretty fun.
Aerial Greatsword and Aerial Switchaxe will get you far even against little shits like velocidrome.
God I hate them
bing bing world is the best
I really don't like the styles in the first place
trying to figure out a weapons moveset and how to use it is already daunting when there's so many but then all these retarded styles change shit arbitrarily for the sake of some gimmick and you have no way to tell what's actually different or why it's that way
hell the arts are just one button gimmicks too
then there's other shit like getting pinned to the ground or mounting and some meter comes up and there's no prompt to tell you what you're supposed to do
I expect this kind of vague bullshit in a fighting game where learning and applying new things against other people doing the same is the whole point not from a single player pve game
it's pointlessly convoluted and just makes me not want to bother
shoo shoo worldlet tranny
Pay 20 bucks for the inline for this game only or not?
Tri online was the best, fuck Tanzania
At least play smash and mario kart or some other shit if you're gonna shell out. Also, do a little singleplayer before you do online
>paying a full year when you only plan on playing one game
Also see if you can talk some other people you know into starting a family plan.
I like all that complexity. It's fun.
Its a capcom game. If you're pinned, mash rotations and buttons, or ifnyouhavr a dung bomb, you can use that item alone while pinned to instantly knock the monster off.
If you've mounted, just hold R. Mash the evade button to slash when the little monster mouth is blue, the stop mashing when its orange/red.
MH is convoluted garbage and extremely poorly explained. It requires online research to be decent at it, because all important things arent explained in-game. Its truly retarded capcom game design.
I play this game on 3DS cause the 3DS was a hunk of shit and even these garbage MH games were still better than most games on the console. If i had the option to play anything else though, i generally wouldn't. There is no harm or foul for giving capcom the shit they deserve.
MH has always sucked at tutorials. As for the mounting bar, mash X to attack and hold R to hold on while the monster is trying to throw you off by flailing around/roaring. If you're getting pinned or if you're fishing something big, mash all buttons.
I wish Gunlances weren't shit.
Has Capcom released any more DLC Palicos yet besides the couple last December?
Nice horn, what is it?
With the advent of styles, fights in MH became less centered on the monster and more centered on the hunter. Just look at how people use CB in World, it's literally training mode stuff. It hardly matters what the monster does, you just press the big UNGAAAAA button and you explode everything around you regardless of what hurtbox you hit
Avenir's Music Box, one of the two Rustshard Hunting Horns, along with the Daora horn.
Nope, although it's possible to get your hands on Weakness Exploit and maybe Beast Extender by getting a cat from Gen or another player IIRC. I think those 2 skills are the important ones we are missing.
Thanks much
I want Beast Extender and Sonic Mini Bombay, since Ultrasonic Horn sucks and I want to see if I can make Mini Barrel Bombay into a half-decent sonic bomb.
>Not playing HH and superpounding at all times
so if the gunlance in gu is so shit what should I be using instead
Valor and Adept HBG. Do you want to be Neo from the Matrix or a mobile chaingun?
Use it if you enjoy it. It just was never a very good weapon and they added a meme heat gauge mechanic that makes it worse for absolutely no reason. Plus they got rid of it in world so if you play pretty much any other game your knowledge about managing it won't carry over and you might have to reinvent your playstyle.
I'm not playing anything that requires aiming with these god awful controls
>These controls
>Awful
Haha guys look, this fucking BABY hasn't suffered the pain of aiming on the PSP.
Personally I had a lot of fun in GU using Hammer, SnS, and GS. The 2 former weapons are great for beginners.
Can confirm that Striker and Alchemy SnS are fucking amazing to play. I wish they'd bring oils to future games.
Chaos oil is so rediculous and I love it
desu i thought the heat gauge mechanic was engaging and its only statistically worse if you dont shell period and a very very slight buff if you do, and shelling is half the point of the weapon in the first place.
If this is a serious post, the lance and gunlance are somewhat more difficult to use against small monsters as their hit boxes on attacks are little pokes. You just need to practice with it, and it will click. It WILL click, and then that fucking velociraptor's head will explode.
I miss prowlers...
Wyvernfire locks your heat gauge anyway, so once you're deep into red use it and you can shell all you want with that buff.
what style of longsword should I use
Ironically it's these exact controls what let one target, aim and hit any specific part of the monster one wants, and with great precision.
